it will. you can get the beta now….
and the keys last indefinitely. If you don't renew your subscription thought I thought the software would become invalid?
If you don't renew, you cannot claim any additonal keys; however, keys already claimed (i.e. you have the key) can still be activated.
How many keys do you get for each product nowadays?
2
3 for Technet Pro.
Used to be 10, then changed to 5, and now 3.
After the discount, still expensive.
For Technet Standard/Retail, it's 2.
Thanks for that. Maybe I should downgrade to Technet Standard.
Mentioned to Microsoft that it is not right AU customers need to pay more. The CSR told me they know about it and are considering making some changes. That was 1 year ago. I guess nothing has changed. 30% discount is better than no discount.
ACCC are looking into it as well now.
I believe it is 2… but each key can be activated on 5 different computers.
Standard - 2
Pro - 3But is that two per product, as in could I use 2 from Win 7 Ultimate, then another 2 from Professional, essentially allowing me access to 4 copies of Win 7?
Are different languages still considered different products? For example, 2 for English, 2 for French, then x86/x64 variations?
That's a great tip. Can you purchase from Amazon with an Australian credit card?
There is a thread on whirlpool (and somewhere here) that said you just need a US address associated with your MS Live email. Aussie credit cards work fine, and there is no delivery address as it is downloaded (despite it being filed under DVDROM).
Great, thanks for the info!
I was about to ask about DVD-ROM as stated on the Amazon pages. Pity you don't get the DVD's, though I understand why.
Are latest releases instantly available once released or does the list of software stay the same from the day you sign-up?
My understanding (from the other threads… I don't actually have this yet) is that you gain access to the library for a year. If a product gets added to the library in 11 months time, you have access to that new product.
Also, my understanding is that the licenses do not expire when your subscription expires. You are able to keep using the product after that date.
Sooo… Sometime (~11 months) before Windows 8 and the next office are due to be released, I intend to get a subscription. Of course, this is all to review in my own lab at home and is not going to breach any EULA about being used in production systems!
(Someone please correct me if I have misread something here)
I ordered this previously, although TechNet itself is digital delivery, the Amazon purchase sends you an small blue box with a registration code inside. So you need to enter a correct Physical location for it to be sent to.
Has anyone tried this recently? The Amazon site now shows:
Shipping: Currently, item can be shipped only within the U.S. and to APO/FPO addresses. So it looks like you may need to use a mail forwarder.
I bought this last year from Amazon US. They shipped me a blue box with a 25 digit "Product Key" which was needed to activate the Technet subscription.
When clicking on '21 new from $171.99', would selecting one of the other sellers that have International & Domestic shipping rates be a way to go?!
Although that Amazon link mentions "No Operating System"
Is there a version that has all MS products sans Windows?
My old technet subscription has expired, so if I renew, I'll get access to Windows 8 RTM keys when released correct? Or should I just get my bro to buy a subscription so we can get extra keys to all other MS apps / OS's?
Better to purchase the PRO version via the US website. USD$296.65
Code: TNFLA12

Do you need a us address for this?
Can someone clarify that if you get purchase the Technet standard version you can have 2 licences for each of the software they list under software evaluation? If so then you can get 2 licences for Windows 7 Ultimate, 2 licences for Office 2010 Professional plus etc. and then potentially 2 licences for Windows 8?
If so then $236 for new subscription after the 30% discount seems to be a pretty good deal?
Yes, that's correct. 2 keys per product and 5 activations per key. So 2 * 5 = 10 activations per product.
As BluBoy pointed out, you can get it for $207 from PC shops as well: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/73167#comment-919779
EDIT: $207 appears to be a UK reseller, and Australian sellers + postage equals roughly $230 anyway, so may as well buy direct from Microsoft.
Would this allow for the download of W8 when it eventually comes out?
Could be a cheap way to grab it if it does.
