Can vouch for this. Massive router though

  • is the interface in chinese?

If this is EU or Australian version then it should be in english.
If Chinese version then Chinese but firmware can be changed for this one. There is a global version available.

I prefer the Chinese tbh, because that has stronger wifi signals.

English one controls for EU standards.

  • Just missing 6Ghz band. 1 or two more 2.5G ports would be nice too

    • I am sure the next version will have 6e

Very good router. The only problem is firmware. It is very stable and easy to configure, but it doesn't have many professional options like ASUS. If you are a home user and do not need too many professional options. It is a very good choice.

what are examples of professional options?

    dead spider

  • Is it dual band or tri- band? Specs say it's triband but the listing says dual band

    • +2

      tri-band, 2.4G 5GHz-1 and 5GHz-2

  • One day i'll see the rax200 for this price.

  • 4K QAM

Sheesh. 64x64. They pack a lot into these. Must be decent error correction.

Active cooling too (fans). Lots of processing going on.

I'd be dubious about the long term firmware support life Xiaomi provide.

It doesn't look supported by OpenWrt (even though they based the firmware on it). I personally only buy routers supported by OpenWrt for the long security life.

The entire Qualcomm 11ax lineup are a horrible proposition for OpenWrt anyway. Qualcomm just don't give the same testing to the stuff they try to submit versus what they have in QSDK.

In addition, there have been a few reports of this particular model being shipped with it's secure boot fuses blown in the global model.

    • What are your top openwrt routers?

        @abadacus

I haven't looked recently, but I would personally look at the soon to be released WiFi 6 version of the Turris Omnia (though that would probably fail the OzBargain test).

  • Wi-Fi 6 AX tri-band? It's over 9000 Mbps!

  • Original Xbox router
