Oddly specific criteria for a massive / commercial quantity of a niche item…not sure how many chicken or Chinese joints use this site.

  • +1

Guess it's time to open up a Chinese takeaway.

Buy our plastic waste before it becomes illegal

    • +2

I actually thought it was already illegal.

      • +4

Slap on the word "reusable" on anything plastic and it's legal again. Have a look at the party section of Kmart next time.

        • Or all the “15c” plastic bags at supermarkets/stores. But it’s ok, they are “reusable”. Unlike all the plastic bags that used to be free, can’t reuse them.

Maybe the ACCC should shine their new greenwashing lens at the government for these dodgy feel good policies that have more holes than abandoned fishing nets littering the seas,

      • Not yet everywhere, 1 Feb, 2023 in VIC. NSW in Nov, 2022.

QLD, WA and SA have already banned them.

VIC is the only place where you might still get a few months of use out of them before the ban goes into effect.

Plastic is technically good for the environment because buring it is a carbon dioxide sink.

      • Asbestos is actually good for construction because crushing it into a fine powder and snorting it is a one way ticket to mesothelioma.

      • +2

If it was made from existing atmospheric carbon, you'd be right.

The problem is these are made from oil, so you're adding as much carbon as you're taking away.

        • the irony is so funny - so reusable plastic bags are not - plastic containers are also not…..those so called bags you get from woolies or coles are made from ……… our gov is a joke

Finally! Bulk sporks at a price I want to pay. And not white or beige sporks, oh no!
Discounted black sporks. Could life be any better?

  • +15

    Shame on anyone buying this!

    Compostable plastic or wooden spoons!

    • +3

      Spoons ≠ sporks

      • +4

        Alright, let’s play this game…

        Shame on anyone buying this!

        Compostable plastic or wooden sporks!

        • +3

No game. I just thought you couldn't read.

    • +1

Apparently the compostable plastic is a sham and the conditions required for decomposition aren’t just throw in the garden and they’ll disappear. What I was told anyway…
And wooden spoons IMHO taste funny.

      • +3

The wooden spoons ruin the great taste of the real potato and gravy from KFC.

        • +1

I was volunteering with a group of catering students once and one of them commented that he had worked at KFC, and wouldn't touch the gravy as it was made with " the stuff that forms in the bottom of the pans off the chickens".

I don't know if he has figured out why he was met with blanks stares yet…

          • +1

@terrys: If you've not accepted the fact that when you're eating KFC literally nothing is going to be good for you in one way or another, you've got issues

          • +1

@terrys: I mean… that’s why the gravy is so tasty? And that’s actually how gravy is made at home too? Probably not from the deep/fat fryer but hey it tastes amazing haha

    • If these get thrown in with general rubbish they cause problems in the junkyard. And you know they will be thrown in the general rubbish.,

      • junkyard?

Do you mean the rubbish tip?

    • I said shame…shame…shame… shame…shame…shame…shame… a shame on you. That you can't use plastic utensils too….

    • compostable plastic — i wonder what its made from too…..hey why dont you use sugarcane as well but your probably not aware that it has to be treated with chemicals that are harmful to consume and is now banned in WA, soon other states will follow probably have until 2024.

I would like to see a deal on good quality, wide diameter disposable plastic straws - preferably individually paper wrapped. Thanks.

  • +3

You guys down in Vic still allowed single use plastic cutlery?

  • +1

    coming up with $30 + $4 tax = $44? doesn't add up

  • Stock up before totally illegal. Then buy them from AliExpress China. Lol

  • Spork, isn't that what Scotty used to call Leonard Nimoy's character?

    • 😂😂😂

  • +2

Interesting.. so one a day, I won’t have to wash cutlery for almost 11 years

    • Saves water = saves the environment!

    • Why not three a day?

  • Banned in NSW from 1 November.
We have been advised to recycle all remaining stock after this date.

    • Recycling for some. General waste for others.
