Britax Safe-N-Sound B-Grow ClickTight TEX $624 + Delivery ($0 MEL C&C) @ Tiny Tot Baby Store

110
FIRSTBUYLOYAL5LOYAL5W

Britax Safe-N-Sound B-Grow ClickTight TEX down to $629, plus compatible with either FIRSTBUY code for first-time customers or LOYAL5 for returning customers to knock another $5 off. Other stores have it on sale at $649.

I believe the TEX version is better than the + version sold in babybunting (which is also on sale at $669). The + series of Britax baby seats seem to be just a nicer-looking version to the base version (eg nicer stitching) exclusive to babybunting to avoid price matches, while the TEX series features a liquid barrier material to resist stains and moisture which the + series does not have.

Free pickup in Ferntree Gully in Vic or pay shipping (eg $10 to Melb)

  • The Babybunting one has been down to $615 a few times, but this one looks good too

    • yeah but I think the TEX version is worth the extra few dollars

TEX is not better than +, they are just different. Albeit the + is the most expensive of the range.

TEX has standard foam with moisture repellent fabric.

The + has memory foam and is a Baby Bunting exclusive.

Personally, I prefer the feel of the + fabric.

The B-Grow is a FANTASTIC seat. I also have the MG Pro but nothing compares to how secure the ClickTight system fixes the seat to the car. It's rock solid.

Albeit the + is the most expensive of the range.

This isn't correct. Baby Bunting's normal price for the + when there are no sales is $669, the RRP of the Tex is $849 and was selling in most stores around the $720-$750 mark. The cheapest available was $699 up until a few months ago when a number of stores put the Tex on sale for $649.

      The + has memory foam

Just be aware that the memory foam is only in the infant insert, which will be removed from the majority of the seat's life given it's a 6m to 8 year old seat. The actual seat has the same foam as the Tex.

Personally, I prefer the feel of the + fabric.

I had the opposite thoughts on this, much preferred the look and moisture repelling properties (stain resistance) of the Tex fabric and was happy to pay $80ish dollars above Baby Bunting's sale prices for it. It's great it can be had in this sale for the same price as the + seat on sale. This is subjective though so I'd recommend people try them in-store to decide for themselves.

      • Even the Britax website across a variety of seats shows TEX first, then +, then base version if applicable (this one doesn't seem to have a base version currently, not sure if it ever did). Another hint, alongside the higher RRP, that it seems Britax see the TEX version as the higher end one.

From my percpective, the + version we have of another Britax seat gets stained very easily so hoping the TEX proves better in that regard.

      • Cool. Good to know all that!

I have the + one and I'm very happy with it but I don't know why they don't provide isofix?!!

    • +1

if it is a type G seat, ISO fix isn't allowed by the Australian standard

    • They do, you buy either the ClickTight version or the ISOfix version (shortened to IFix in their product name)

      • Damn it, they didn't tell us at baby bunting I would have got the isofix version!

        • The non-isofix version is quite a bit more expensive which might explain why they pushed towards it. Sorry to hear!

          • @bdubba: At the end of the day it's not a big deal but isofix makes life so much easier 😂

            Thanks.

        • How old is your child? Above 4 years there is no isofix.

      • Are you sure you're referring to the same seat? B-first has isofix, B-grow doesn't.

  • Is this suitable for a newborn? lol

I have no idea about babies or the fabric types or anything like that, send help.

    • +1

      6m to 8y

    • no this is not suitable sorry. new born to at least 6 months needs to be rear facing.

    • +1

Get a 0-4yo seat, then figure out what's next at 4. Eg the b-first seems to be on sale at a few places currently, but even more complicated in terms of versions (Tex, +, base version in terms of material as well as ifix and clicktight in terms of fixing it).

Wouldn't you just buy something like from facebook marketplace? It's where I buy most of the kids stuff. I got a seat, stroller and pram for $600. Some really nice stuff too, barely used as their kids didn't like it

    • A car seat is one of the things I bought new as there's a risk of them having been in accidents.

      • I just have a good feel of the seat, make sure there are no warping/weak points or visible damage. I took off the fabric too. Spend a little more time up front and save hundreds hey.

        • One problem is that damage isn't always going to be visible.

I would still consider a second hand seat but would be careful with who I bought it from.

      • Nailed it. Anything related to impact protection should be bought brand new imo

    • Given you'd own this seat for close to 8 years and you don't know the history of a second hand one it's worth buying new.

    • Better off buying a cheaper seat brand new (like mother's choice) than a more expensive seat used.

Price doesn't seem to correlate with safety with (properly installed) car seats. Here is an independent safety testing website that demonstrates that your money could be better spent:
      https://www.childcarseats.com.au

      • If you factor in the ease of use rating as well which tells you how likely it will actually be used correctly to achieve the protection rating, this is one of the safest forward facing seats.

Personally I find the protection ratings a bit suspect as well when britax's super budget version (atlas) has a higher rating then its many more expensive versions. Especially if you looked at the atlas vs the other Britax seats it just doesn't add up.

      • Have found that comfort is a massive factor, which can mean your kid sleeps or not on drives. Not all about safety.

        • Yeah a screaming kid in the back increasing your chance of crashing significantly vs a sleeping child is a big difference as well.

        • +1

Yep agreed, though I would argue this doesn't necessarily correlate with price either.

We purchased a $600 Maxi-Cost, and a $200 Mother's Choice. Guess which one my 2 year old prefers to sleep in (and actually scores higher for safety on that website)?

100% seats are only as safe as how they are installed. No arguments here. A more expensive seat might be easier to install and thus be safer, but assuming installs are done correctly, it's not always the case.

          • @loksmack: It's not just the install but the ease of securing into the seat as well that goes into the ease of use, which can make a big difference if your ending up with loose straps or twisted straps or harnessing incorrectly etc

    • +1

Same as buying a used helmet. You don't know whether the internal structure has been compromised from a drop or an accident.

Unless I can be 100% sure in the history of the baby seat being accident-free, my kids' safety isn't worth that risk.

    Thanks OP.

It was $39 shipping for me to Adelaide so I searched and found it cheaper here (for me):

    https://www.babyvillage.com.au/products/britax-safe-n-sound-…

$629 ($649 less first order coupon of $20) with free shipping.

    • Nice, I did look at BV but didnt realise they had a first order coupon (didnt see it advertised on their site).

    • can you share the code for first time buy? subscribed but haven’t seen anything come through. Thanks

      • Sure, it’s BVB6LCLFJ6.

This is the email I received:

“Welcome to Baby Village. Enjoy $20 off your first purchase.

        BVB6LCLFJ6

*Only available for new customers, on orders over $150. This one-use code cannot be used in conjunction with another offer. Valid for 7 days.”

Give it a go, hope it works for you too.
