[Used] Colorful GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Graphics Card (Ex Mining) $557.07 Delivered @ MetroCom eBay

1094
REFURB7OCT

One of the best priced second-hand deals I’ve seen out there. Almost 50% off retail.

Don’t know anything about the seller (appears to have a WIP website). More than 10 available at time of posting, and it’s covered by eBay Plus returns. Comes with a 3 month warranty too, for what that’s worth.

Yes, ex-mining. We all talk about the eth-merge bringing down the price by flooding the second hand market. Well, that doesn’t happen unless people actually go for the ex-mining cards.

Seller Description:

EX mining card for half year. Tested working with no issues.
Minor oxidation on the fins of the radiator, some dust but no rust.
No original box, card and 12 pin to dual 8 pin adaptor only.

Original Coupon Deal

EDIT: According to @Grunkun below, he called the customer service line and confirmed that the manufacturer warranty lasts until January 2025.

EDIT 2: MetroCon has confirmed it will supply an original invoice from BPC-Tech with purchase, for warranty purposes.

        • Hillarious.

The market determines the price and in this case and doesn't care about your feelings. If a company just arbitrarily priced these items, they'd be scalped.

  • +1

    HODL!

  • +2

hmmm tempting, but if Im going to spend $500+ on a video card I want a warranty longer than 3 months. Will the seller still be around in 3 months to take care of the warranty?

    • @Grunken called the manufacturer and checked the serial. Colorful said it’s covered until Jan 2025.

      • +6

That assumes that either they'll cover it without a receipt or proof of purchase, or that the ebay seller will provide one even though it's not mentioned on their listing.

        • +3

Just checked with them. They’ll provide an original invoice from BPCTech.

    • There you go. As dusty said. Time to play the mining card roulette.

  • +2

haha, mining cards are worthless, how did they "refurbish" them because I've seen cards being washed with a hose to clean the crud off them.
you always see the same lie, we ran them undervolted in aircond cabinets still in great condition. the reality like my douchbag landlord who runs them in a warehouse next to my shop is that they are thrashed 24/7, the warehouse has no cooling and in summer he was doing all that he could to keep the place below the temp of hell as machines kept crashing from heat. the cards all looked like had been dragged thru dirt with fans and fins filled with dust.
he's now trying to palm them off on marketplace

    • Noooo. You making it up. They ran the cards on as low a voltage and when it came time to sell them. They where individually detailed. Hand cleaned and babied just waiting for its next new owner to enjoy.

      /s

      • +1

I can confirm i have seen this treatment afforded to every single mining card ever. It has always been about all the tweaking and finessing of settings to ensure that the card and the new owner fall in love during the adoption process. Hash rates and profits be damned!

  • Oxidation on fins results from keeping cards in an open air environment with moisture in the air (most likely from cool air and wind of a door left open in winter). Sounds like they've been left on naked motherboards on a shelf with no air filtering in a garage..

  • +1

EDIT: According to @Grunkun below, he called the customer service line and confirmed that the manufacturer warranty lasts until January 2025.

Incorrect, ALL manufacturers will void warranty if used for mining!

Individuals can lie about it but large mining companies won't be able to lie…

    • +10

More nonsense. There's no way to prove a card was used for mining. It doesn't store some magical information on what the card was used for. A few cards I used for mining died on me this year and they were replaced without issue. Also, I didn't lie. I made an RMA and there was no question asked "By the way, was it used for mining?". So much BS on the internet.

      • +1

Lol, these users complaining would probably tell them as part of the RMA process

        • "yeah, my gpu failed :( also I made this warranty voiding memory OC but i hope that's okay :)"

      • True, except in this case when the bulk lot of cards were sold direct to a mining operation, it's quite easy to know that this was used for mining.

For individual miners of course no one can know.

  • miner cards are typically run with core undervolts and max memory OCs possible… the gddr6x on the 3070ti heated up a bit from what i heard so make sure you DYOR but this could be a cracking deal

  • +6

This is a start, but if we respect ourselves we really have to make them drop these prices a couple hundred dollars more.

  • -8

Why aren't the mods blocking this? It may as well allow a private advert listing on eBay now.

What's the difference? One has an ABN the other doesn't. Though, a private seller could potentially offer a receipt for warranty where these are void…

It even says on the ad it has oxidation which is environmental damage.

    • If you have an issue with this deal use the report button to notify mods.

  • +3

Loving all these sick fantasies about gpus undervolted and given free space to breathe with 24/7 air conditioning to run cool with 30min lunch breaks for every 5 hours of work.

    • You mean to tell me their not? **mind blown**

      /s

    • I am not sure why you assume that people that got into mining to earn money would not try to earn the most amount of money they can. You get the most amount of money from mining by undervolting NOT by OCing them. So the undervolting part is kind of a given. The rest is not.

  • +1

Now you can see how greedy these people are. They earn quick money from mining and still want to make money by selling their rubbish.

    • +3

I'd say that's being financially wise.

  • wouldnt be surprised about the pressure cleaning, hec ive seen people deep heating their mobo and graphix cards in an electric oven, to reset bad boards / solder, with some success.

  • +6

Hi OP thanks for the post.
We also got 30 Gigabyte 3070 Ti Gaming OC ex mining GPU in, same condition, same price but with 2.5 years warranty direct from us.
For those who bought Colorful 3070 Ti, we will also provide 2.5 years return to base warranty, or you can choose to contact vendor directly with the original invoice.

Quality wise, Colorful NB is more solid but Gigabyte is a top tier brand.

    Cheers

    • thanks, might want to change the heading to 2.5years on ebay

    • Do you have any good deals on RTX3080?
Your ebay listing of $899 for an ex-mining 3080 is a bit on the $$$ side.

    • How exactly will you provide warranty? You are not gigabyte…

      Gigabyte explicitly states

      “ Warranty Terms

GIGABYTE graphics cards, except those labeled “Mining Series”, are intended only for use with desktop PCs. Other types of use, such as blockchain computing or cryptocurrency mining, will render the product warranty void.”

      https://www.gigabyte.com/au/Support/Graphics-Card

You will not get any warranty from ANY manufacturer for mined cards, don’t listen to these people guys, once they sell all their cards, you will never hear from them again!

      • I actually believe seller will honour warranty as stated. However i dont know what will be covered under the warranty after reading your quote from gigabyte

For example, if it comes with oxidation on fin and that is not replaceable under warranty, then how bad the card must be before i can return it?

    • Why do you say Colorful is more solid? I've never heard of them. How are they better?

  • I just want to point out one thing. You may have the original receipt from BPC but when you go and try to claim warranty you will not be able to produce the correct ID. The only time you can claim the warranty for someone else is when the item explicitly states it is transferable. You would need to get BPC or Colourful to transfer the warranty itself. ACL even states this. So effectively there is no warranty.

    • +3

Does the original vendor ask for ID when purchasing?

      • I have got replacement before without receipt, they just asked for the serial number and that was it, they can trace it on their system. No such thing called transfer of ownership for computer components

          • +1

@jdanielw: There's an enormous difference between a voluntary or statutory warranty in Australia and a manufacturers warranty.

            • +1

@Rutger: I am not lodging a fight against this, I am not a lawyer, I just know that if a manufacturer did not want to look at this due to change of ownership, our state board her in nsw would not look at it (from experience). Anyways I’m any event, I did end up purchasing one of these just for the sake to see what it is like, so I will report back on how it went.

  • good deal

  • -5

Nope, im going to stick with the RTX 3060TI i bougth form a lvoely gaerman man in his 40's during COVID that managed to snag a 3080 TI and charged me a good discount off what he paid for it 5 months earlier (so $700 to me) pristine and with all of its warranty in place for 3 years and hardly used, and not overclocked.

Yup thats what im going to do…

Someone else can have the pressure washed discards….

    • +1

      Who asked?

      • +4

It was a 'cool story bro' you gotta admit.

    • $700 lmao

  • It's been stress tested if that makes you feel better.

    • +2

It has been stress tested for months which make me feel worse.

  • Which one is better Colorful or Gigabyte?

    • The hashrates on both are around 38 MH/s.

  • +1

Hmm, just bought a 6800XT for $650 (plus shipping), used but un-mined. A better card than this one for less than $100 more.

    • +1

Where did you manage to find that? Ebay?

I had an offer accepted and paid for recently by an ebay seller that sat on it and didn't ship until he sold his stock and then cancelled my order with "Out of Stock".
So I'm keen to try and source another for a similar price.

      • Gumtree this time, should be good hopefully

    • I mean, that's an amazing bargain if true, but that's not regular.

      • As much as I hate to say "Hodl", these used cards are all going to be getting cheaper soon I reckon. Hopefully it becomes more normal to get one at this price.

    • which type of card was it?

      • 6800XT

  • -1

Hmm, tempting, for $50 I would bite

  • Seeing there's manufacturer warranty, could you not return them for having faulty fans and get a new one?

  • -1

What do you mean 50% of retail? Since when does a 3070ti cost $1114?

Your whole post is written like a car salesman

    • What's the retail price then? I see its around $1000-1200 without sale.

      • Absolute nonsense retail for 3070ti is around $900-950. Did you pick Harvey Norman for your example?

    • I went by the retail pricing of that model, which is pretty standard for 3070 Ti retail generally.

Could you get it lower on sale? Probably. After all, we saw a retail 3080 going for $999 the other day.

      • That's a computer store not colorfuls website.

        Use this next time. https://au.pcpartpicker.com/products/video-card/#c=506

Current retail for 3070ti is $900. not $1050

        • +1

Colorful's official store has it at $1k USD, on sale from $2.6k USD, so that wouldn't have been particularly helpful as a comparison point.

PC Part Picker doesn't have Colorful brands listed, but it has prices for 3070ti ranging from $849 to $1,907 depending on model.

Even if we take the lowest priced mainstream brands at $968, we are looking at a markdown of 43%, which is still within ballpark of 'almost 50% of retail'.

  • +4

All this debate, but at the end of the day we will find out who is right in a few months time.

  • +3

Meh. Took a punt. Let's see what happens.

    • +2

Should be fine, I bought an ex-mining gtx 1070 many years ago and hasn't been a single issue. Time to upgrade with this.

      • +2

Same thing with my 1070ti. Zero issues.

  • +2

Snagged a Gigabyte 3070 ti, fingers crossed.

    • From same seller?

      • +1

Yeah they had 30 units available at the same price as this Colorful model.

  • Expired now - was going to send the link to a mate who's still running a 970ti. Hope several on here got one as it sounded like a great deal

  • Snoozed, rip

  • LOL, this might be useful for only 3 months, how could it be sold out…

  • +2

Being a buyer of this, share some comments:

Card was received rapidly, little dust on it, this is good I think: this means the seller did not use water or other liquid to wash them. Appearance looks new and good, no damage was found, fin looks clean as a whole, the warranty stick is in good condition. Furmark test about 20mins, passed, 3D Mark stress test was passed as well.

Tentatively conclude: good card and nice seller.

    • A++, would buy again?

      • +1

Same deal for me - promptly posted and looks in good condition. Furmark stress test ran fine and I'm testing out a few games, so far so good.

      • Yes, when the seller stacked shelves with ex-mining 6070Ti at good price ^_^

To be honest, this price is not good enough, compared with Japan, China (TaoBao, PDD, 20-30% cheaper), but considering here is Australia, it should be a decent trade.

        • +1

What is the best way to order from TaoBao?

        • What’s PDD?

    • Got mine today.
Card also looks fine with slight oxidation on fins. Comparing it to my old card it does not have any of this maybe due to material used?
Did some quick benchmarks and also looks good.
Upgraded from a 960gt which is light and day. Strangely enough, the idle power on the 3070ti was lower than the 960gt using a power meter to test.

  • 1 more 3070 ti Gigabyte model is available: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/255774347213?hash=item3b8d56cfcd…

  • The seller has put up a few Sapphire Pulse Radeon 6800 16GB cards for sale at $479 after code, 4 left right now.

    • Got a 6800 for $469 with the code. Might be a better deal than the 3070ti tbh

  • +2

Got my 3070ti today. Looks good and was as described, some minor oxidizing but all good, fast shipping… pretty happy.

  • +2

Card itself is in excellent condition. Not even enough dust to bother wiping it down and some of the protective plastic was still on it. Definitely wasn't washed with a pressure hose or kept outside and probably could have been sold 'As new'.

Performs extremely well but the clock speeds aren't right. It may have a custom/modified bios (Version is 94.04.5A.00.7E) as it hits 1980MHz instead of the 1770MHz boost.

Too high for my liking so set a -150MHz offset on the GPU and -100MHz on the mem using Afterburner. 76c peak but only 55% fan speed so will have to play with that a bit more.

  • +1

Got one of the Gigabyte cards today, this thing is HUGE. Minor oxidation on the fins, a typical amount of dust buildup from a few months of use but nothing excessive. Works well but runs hot (common issue for 3070 TIs), temps are far more manageable with an undervolt and actually now boosts to 1900MHz at a reasonable temperature.
