Shell Remote Control Toy Car + Bluetooth Remote Control Battery $18 in-Store @ Coles Express

190

Got this remote control car from coles express.
You can buy the limited edition remote control car for $10 and the Bluetooth battery for $8. Total $18.

New models will be released every week and battery can be used for all models by just swapping.

Just charge the battery with inc micro USB and insert into the car. Download the shell app and control the car by using Bluetooth.

Been searching for a RC car that can be recharged which can be controlled by app. Finally found and was really impressed.

Video review

My kitten loves chasing it 😍

  • Also if you don't wanna fuel up, buying the car and battery together nets you a further $5 off as well. So you'll still pay $18 without needing to refuel.

    • Thx, updated the post

  • How far can you stand from the car before losing connection?

    • +1

Not too far I guess, was stable just within reading room. Just got kids or someone like me who's gaming skills are less than a kid 😂

    • About 5-6 metres

your YT links are because Google are being CU in the NTs

    https://youtu.be/8HqnSwdKiMI

I think Google wants to randomise their tiktok shorts

i assume they release new car bodies every week or so??? people want a ZB shell???

    • comment on that video said the cars have metal shells too (heh).

and these have headlights! something my app-controlled jimny lacks.

  • according to that video there's 7 shells

looks like some rally, indycar, ferrari f1 and btcc? dtm? shells?

  • already had the NASCAR out the other day at our local

  • Isn't it always this price?

    • this is more a Shell company press release

      https://www.exhaustnotes.com.au/shell-launches-bluetooth-con…

“We hope this range of collectables will fuel Australians’ passion for motorsport, particularly as we approach Bathurst 1000 in October,” executive general manager of Viva Australia (the new owners of Coles Express service stations) Megan Foster said.

      nice

  • Is it a different car at different Shell station? or is there a schedule of what comes out each week?

    • +1

Yeah second car is meant to be released Thursday 13th and then every 7 days after. The stores that have two cars out already f&#+ up and was only meant to display 1 until the 13th when the second car is released.

Also you will be able to buy all 7 cars, 2 batteries and collector case for about $125 in week 4.

  • There’s also a storage case for $10. Shell I went to had two different models out already

  • I want that f1!

  • Looks pretty cool, handy with app, but man I wish they would have the option to buy a remote too, when the app is no longer supported, then these are as useful as paper weight at most.

  • +1

HODL! Stuff like this always needs to be cleared out after the promotion is done and will sell for a bargain provided people dont clear it out first.

If theres a specific model you really want or need it ssoner then buy now

  • The shell AU website calls it "Shell Motorsport Collection - 15" TVC". Are they 15"? It looks a lot smaller in all the videos I have seen.

    • they're about 15cm.

  • picked some up to try, quite impressed with all the things the app lets it do.

My store had 3 models already

probably need a way to save the app, would likely have to end up getting some super cheap android phone and find the apk file for it if i want to be able to play it long term

  • Should make a list of where's what :)

I'll start with Mustang GT Supercars @ Bunker Hill, VIC

so the penske nascar was supposed to be released today but my local store didn't get them in yet. i took a pic of the release schedule: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/20978/98776/img_5027.j…

    hyundai wrc 20/10
    ferrari f1 27/10
    bmw m4 dtm 3/11
    full cases (7 cars + 2 batteries) 3/11
    nissan formula e 10/11
    penske indy car 17/11

  • None of my local coles express' in Adelaide have this weeks car, they have next to no idea whats going on, not a great promotion

  • Yeah no petrol stations in western NSW seem to have the new car either. Shipping delays? Or no shipments sent?

  • I haven't been able to find any of the Hyundai WRC in northern Sydney… anyone know anywhere with stock ?

  • stock is so hit & miss. some stores have no cars, only batteries; one is still stocking the mustangs; but today i found stock of the F1 cars at another so bought 2 and got my free coffee at the same time.

  • just picked up 2 F1s at this shell in chadstone vic
    https://maps.app.goo.gl/DW1CTNN52Un44HYG7

  • I just picked up the last f1 from the mount gambier, sa, shell. According to the service lady, she is only being sent 3 of each car

  • BMW M4 sold out :(

Any chance anyone wants to swap BMW for Ferrari?

  • +1

Went to two stations today. Both were sold out of everything which is impossible because they’re meant to have cars plus full sets available. What’s the go?

  • +1

This promotion is a joke, i regret buying any of the cars now, and it certainly isnt making me want to choose coles express over a different petrol station

  • +1

Their ‘schedule’ definitely wasn’t followed. I’d like to know where the bmw was even released as I never saw it anywhere and I’ve been checking my local stations every couple of days. Doesn’t seem like the last two cars will be released. All the stands have been taken away.

  • +1

I just went for a drive around to 6 different stations. Either they had the mustang or nothing at all. The bmw is meant to be released yesterday but no one has them. I mentioned it to a few of the attendants and they said some of the ones that were sold out they hadn’t even seen. They said they are getting a lot of calls about them too. Having limited stock is one thing but having no stock is another.

  • very dissapointing this promotion, doesn't feel like going to shell anymore :(

  • +1

I emailed them and received this response, seems like they could care less about the stock issue

"Thank you for contacting Coles Express Customer Care.

We a so glad you like the Shell Motorsport Collection – it sure has been racing off the shelves. At the moment, we’ve released 3 cars and the collector case. They’re all limited edition and will be sold on a while stocks last basis. If your local store has sold out, there may be more at nearby sites.
Please keep an eye on the website for new releases https://www.shell.com.au/motorists/promotions-and-offers/model-cars.html

Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact us.

    Kind Regards,

    Hance

    • you'd probably have better luck enquiring at you nearest or most helpful store. my local tells me they don't even know why they don't get the cars delivered as scheduled and they're still trying to sort that out. it seems to arrive a week after the scheduled date.

    • Useless automated replies. The shop owners have no idea what’s going on and by the sounds of it marketing and promotions have no idea either. They could at least give a shit

  • It seems that the full sets were also meant to be released this week. They must have been available somewhere because there is an influx of them on Facebook marketplace but people are selling them for $300+. Gosh people are greedy.

    • those scabs deserve to get scammed, tbh.

      • I don’t know if they’ll get scammed but I’m sure they’re getting trolled

  • Anyone found the bmw? If so, where?
