Comments on Whirlpool indicate that you can leverage a VPN or SmartDNS to connect to the service in the USA, where you will get access to more shows that you can't in Australia.

    • Can confirm. I used Nord to watch Interview with the Vampire (when it was released in the US early)

    • The Walking Dead isn't on the AU service (it's on Binge here) but it pops up using a VPN so that might be helpful for some people. :)

    Another one

Agreed. This is getting ridiculous. Add them all up and people start looking to the high seas once again. Heck even Foxtel may end up being cheaper than adding up all these streaming services.

      • +2

I want a single service that I can search to find where things are, even if you have every service finding things is so difficult.

Plex Discover can do this - still in beta but works pretty well

          Justwatch can help:
          https://www.justwatch.com/

Plex can help with their new 'Discover' Feature
          https://support.plex.tv/articles/discover/

Apple can help (if you own an Apple TV)
Apple TV+ app links to all your streaming services, including the Freeview TV apps, and you can manage it all from one spot there too.

I'm guessing Google may have something similar to Apple?

        • +3

Use justwatch app, it searches all services and even can change countries to search for movies or shows.

        • +1

Generally, if you google the movie/show you want to watch, it'll show you what platform(s) it's available on (with applicable link(s)). That's what I do anyway.

Fetch TV is actually a great aggregator for this. You can search on whatever you're looking for and it gives you results across all FTA channels, catch-up services, subscribed streaming channels (if you have any) and subscription services. The only caveat is that Fetch currently doesn't support Binge or AppleTV+ apps. But pretty much everything else.

  • +2

JustWatch and Plex both provide functionality to allow you to search and find what service something is on either in Australia or overseas

  • I have it and don't watch too much on it at the moment. Most of what I do watch is on Shudder - probably worth it if you're a horror fan.

    • +1

Some of the horror documentary series on there are amazing. A lot of the original movies, not so much. :p

Thanks OP. Grabbed it for Interview with the Vampire and whatever else pops up.

  • You can get acorn TV stuff for free via Hoopla and a library card (like getting one via LA library via vpn)

Be aware there are no profiles on AMC+ yet. I'm really surprised that streaming services are still launching without them these days. :/

  • I'll just stick to my Netflix Argentinian account, Amazon Prime Video and the revolving free 3-month trials I get with Apple TV+, and the free Foxtel Go sub I get from my brother's Foxtel account. Any other shows or movies I can't get, I'll sail the high seas for

  • Absolutely refuse to touch Shudder ever again. A couple months after cancelling my subscription I started receiving random payments of irregular amounts with no valid explanation from them. Customer service was pretty poor

  • I've been watching AMC through Prime with their two dollar deal. I can recommend Halt and Catch Fire for those of you who missed it like me. It's a period piece set in the eighties in the heyday of the IBM PC.

  • How long is this offer on for? Thanks.
