Key Points:

  • $350 annual fee in the first year (save $350).
  • 300,000 Citi Rewards Points when you spend $7,500 on eligible purchases within 60 days from approval.
  • Points redeemable for $1,500 in gift cards, $1,150 profit after annual fee. (According to rwrds)
  • $20,000 minimum credit limit, $100,000 maximum.

Extra Perks:

  • 4th Night Free: Enjoy your 4th night free when you stay four consecutive nights at a huge range of hotels.
  • Luxury Escapes: Enjoy 10% off Limited Time Lux Exclusive hotel offers (up to $500) and international tours (up to $250) until 1 March 2023.
  • Priority Pass: Unlimited complimentary access to over 1,200 Priority Pass lounges around the world for you and one guest.

Edit: Spoke to Citi live chat, they state the hard requirement of income has been removed. I was told I would still be eligible for the points despite currently holding a Citi rewards card. Looks like they've removed the one promo a year cap for this card, YMMV of course.

    • Answer my own question
seems the reward account is separated from each card

So meaning that before cancelling the Prestige card be sure to convert all points to others (eg. flybuys, velocity, asia miles etc.)

  • Thanks OP!

Applied, submitted payslip and approved within 1 hour.

Got a trip coming up, so that 4th night free benefit is easily going to cover the annual fee. As well as the converted Citi points to Velocity covering the cost of the flights.

  • +4

Okay, I just got my card and it comes with a "Variation Notice" confirming no fee on PayAll until after October 31 2023.

  • +3

Just noticed, there's some more unlisted benefits to this card:

    • Theft/damage insurance for mobile phones after you start paying your bill with the card.
    • $100 credit towards a "Luxury Transfer" to or from specific cities e.g. airport transfer.
  • Challenge accepted, wife has already pre spent the cash lol.

  • Still waiting for the card to arrive. It’s taking awful lot of time for delivery.

    • I applied for the 60k Velocity points Citi Rewards deal and it took just over 2 weeks to have the card delivered to metro Brisbane. Was approved 27 Sep only got the card on 13 Oct.

  • +2

    Applied Oct 9, 2022, still nothing :(

    • +1

Approved today, took a while, but got there in the end with no push from my side.

  • +1

Wow, so this priority pass inclusion is even better than what PP themselves sell?

This offer seems to include one member and one guest.

But even their most expensive tier mentions you need to pay $32 USD per guest: https://www.prioritypass.com/en/join-prioritypass

    So that is quite cool.

Also, what is included in unlimited access? Can you go to several lounges right after each other? I would assume not?

    • +3

Yep, can go to unlimited lounges and restaurants/cafes one after another. You might have to wait up to 24 hours to reenter the same one but this depends on each lounge/restaurant for the exact timing.

      • Do they check your boarding pass if you go to the restaurant/cafe and try to use the PP for paying for food? If they don't check then I assume you can just eat everyday in the airport.

        • +2

They've checked the past few times for me and entered the flight number into the terminal.

      • 2 of the places in Sydney Airport appear to be bars. So… go to one and redeem $36 of products, go to second and redeem $36, then go to a lounge.

I once redeemed a PP at a burger place in there. I guess the restaurant is defunct or not accepting PP any more.

        • Ah, as the other person in this thread said, with a guest it would be $72 + $72 + 2 x lounge entry….

          • @watwatwat: Just curious, what do you normally order to redeem the $72 x 2, then going to the lounge?
Given that lounge already provide food and beverage seems my stomach can't feed so much LOL

            • +1

@littlesoldier: If they have cocktails, that will use it up pretty quick.

        • Can you go to multiple in one day? I was thinking the same but thought it would be one per flight? Cause yeah I could drink at bar and then go to the lounge or do I have to pick one?

      • +2

Thats unreal. Could I just chat up a random person and buy them food as well? Then hop to the next place?

        • +3

          I guess you could!

    • +1

This benefit alone is worth hundreds. And when you pay for membership with PP, you still have to pay per visit, unlike the Citi benefit.

  • -1

Can this be used to load money on revolut to hit the $7.5k goal?

  • Applied 5/10 and uploaded payslips during the application process.
Called 1800 807 138 on 13/10 and was advised I would be contacted in the within 48 hours.
Received a letter 14/10 advising my application was approved but they could not verify my ID. Went to the post office to verify my ID in the afternoon and just got a email/text advising full application has been approved.

  • Must be unlucky, sole trader first cc application, been >1 week and no approval.

    • +2

try call them up. I rang them up and was told payslip missing and they also offered extra 5000 points if I provide the document within 24 hours (not sure how this triggered their offer, I did see 3 reminders throughout the week after the application about missing documents though)

      • Thanks I appreciate it, I'll get to it tomorrow as verifications don't work weekends.

      • +1

Bugger they got back to me needing my tax returns for past 2 years. Still haven't done the latest one.

  • I got rejected last May by Citibank - what's the usual wait time when I can reapply? Is it 3 or 6 months?

    • If you got rejected last time, what makes you think that they will approve it this time? If nothing has changed eg pay rise or expenses decreased, why take the risk?

      • I had 3 active creditcards then - now I only have 1.

        • +1

Try it. You should be fine.

I got rejected in April and they said i can reapply in 3 months.

Citibank is now under NAB but went to apply for NAB CC a month later and got it without issue!

I closed that NAB CC in Aug and went back to Citi bank apply a Rewards and got it.

    • Citi told me the blockout period since rejection is 3 months.
Application process is a total mess though, I was told to ask for reassessment after instant rejection(due to above mentioned blockout) then got a rejection email followed by an approval sms and email.
Now waiting for the card to join the PayAll game..

  • I was on a chat with Citibank to confirm if BPay and PayAll can be used to fulfill $7500 spending…
Apparently he confirmed both are not counted toward spending criteria

    https://imgur.com/a/GAivfoa

    Did anyone else confirm otherwise?

      • Yes I read that post, that's why I want to reconfirm with Citi, however I got conflicting information

        • +1

Well I went ahead on the basis of this information and if they don't honour it I'll be taking it up with the AFCA.

        • i think payall is excluded. i've spent more than 7.5k including payall but less than 7.5k if excluding payall. no bonus 300k points in first statement

          • @thekensai: Did you contact them to ask if you've met the threshold?

          • @thekensai: That's what I thought…
But maybe confirm with Citibank customer service to see if PayAll is eligible.
I really doubt it is eligible, as it's way too easy to score bonus points.

            • +2

@OzBestDeal: I already posted an image of a chat with Citi confirming PayAll DOES count.

              Here it is again:

            • +3

@OzBestDeal: i spoke too soon. 300k points just landed. everyone check your rewards page

              • @thekensai: Nice…. Well done mate!!!

              • @thekensai: @thekensai just to confirm that the 300k bonus points doesn't show in the first statement but we need to login the rewards page to see them? I haven't seen anything yet but haven't received my first statement either.

                • @mamalove: yes. just check the rewards page in your app after first statement

        • clause 1 makes no mention of payall. To be eligible to receive 300,000 bonus Citi reward Points, you must apply for the Citi Prestige Card by 31 January 2023, then spend a minimum of $7,500 on eligible purchases using your new card within 60 days from approval.

          • @asc:

            on eligible purchases

Any clause detailing what "eligible purchases" are?

            • +1

@OzBestDeal: Eligible purchases exclude Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special Promotions, interest, fees, refunds, Chargebacks and spend on a Linked Diners Club Card. The bonus Citi reward Points will be credited to your Rewards Balance within 6 - 8 weeks of meeting the spend criteria. Your Citi Prestige Card must remain open, in good standing and enrolled in the Citi Rewards program for the bonus Citi reward Points to be awarded. All rewards are subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Citi Rewards Program. Please note that if you have a balance transfer you will not be entitled to any interest free days on retail purchases. This means that all spend will be charged interest at the applicable annual percentage rate. This offer is valid until 31 January 2023. Post this advertised date; we reserve the right to continue, withdraw or change the offer at any time without notice.

        • +1

I just tried online chat with Citibank and the agent confirmed that Citi Payall is included in the min spend requirement.

    • But does BPay be treated as cash advance?
I know PayAll doesnt but not sure about BPay

      • +1

In the past I've been paying bpay bills with citibank card, and it treated as normal transactions (earning points too)

        • Thanks mate
Will try it next time :)

  • Can anyone advise if the Prioritypass remains for one year even if I close the card? I like the PP membership but don’t want to keep 20,000 limit for that long.

    • You may have to show the card to get the lounge access. I've had to do this with Amex, Diner's etc BUT because you get a dedicated PP membership, I'm not sure.

      • +1

Thanks. Yes I think this time since it is a full PP membership it could be different. On my PP account it just show a card calid from 17/10/2022 to 16/10/2023, I can even choose to link a different card in the billing section instead of the Prestige so I guess it would be there even if I cancel the Prestige.

        Very good value I think,

        • Back in old days (pre covid) I once got rejected to enter Plaza Premium lounge using PP
The lounge cannot process my PP card (date printed on card not expired) and ask me to contact the bank
and thats the time when Citi change from "Signature Visa" to "Premier Mastercard"
So it gives me a feeling that the bank will inform PP to terminate the membership whenever the card is cancelled

[Note: Plaza Premium is no longer partnered with PP since 2021]

    • +1

someone on aff reported they lost the PP membership after closing the card

  • NVM - Idiot that missed a big detail :p

So, if we use PayAll for 12 months, transferring $20k per month = 240k Citio points = 125k Velcoity + 157.5k signup = 282k Velocity points for $350 annual fee?

    • Not exactly if your credit limit is 20k
as you need to spend 20k for the first month (to meet the 7.5)
so sign up bonus is 150k (velocity) instead of 157.5k

      • +1

I don’t think I explained it well. Ignoring the signup bonus, if I keep the card for 12 months. Use the max allowed PayAll per month ($20k).

They pay 1 point per dollar on payall. That’s 20k points per month for 12 months = 240k points using payall.

        That converts to 120k velocity.
Plus the 150k you get signing up.

270k velocity points for $350. No other outlay or costs if you abuse it haha

  • Signed up, received card. Went to active online but it wouldn't accept the combination of card details + DOB, nor could I add it as an additional card to my existing Citi account.

Called Citi, they activated it on my behalf. Requested to have it added to my existing account and that's where things took a turn.. As it turns out, my name on the new card doesn't match my existing, nor does my DOB. I've been told I need to send Citi a notification, via mail, that I wish to arrange a 'name change' for the mismatched account - this process requires verified copies of ID and passport, and takes 5-10 working days to action following their receipt and a further call from me to action the account merge.

    • As an existing Citi Premier card holder
I just went to the Citibank app to activate the new card
no need to enter DOB, just the CVC

  • Does Citibank work with Google pay? Seems like they've only got Apple/Samsung pay?

    • +3

      It does since late September.

      • Got it working for some reason address was set to UK so it kept failing

  • Does anyone know if it is worth getting the Diner with it? I signed up for it for the lounge benefit but given PP I am not too sure

    • +2

Companion diners club card does not include lounge access

      https://www.citibank.com.au/cards/dinersclub/FAQs/index.htm

Will the Linked Diners Club Card also come with the benefits of a standalone Diners Club Card (e.g. Diners Club lounge access, etc.)?
No, The Linked Diners Club Card does not have any Diners Club benefits such as lounge access. Card benefits will remain the same as what is available on your Citi Credit Card.

However I still keep the Diners Club card and great to use for online purchase or travel (eg. to USA or Japan)
as it has no international transaction fee and also earn points on spending (together with other benefits like purchase protection etc.)

      • thanks mate, good to know

      • pls double check this information, i was told over the phone by their consultants that it DOES have lounge access,

        • What I have quoted is from the FAQ of Citi website, best is to have a live chat and screenshot the response, then try to access and ask for a refund if they charge your card

Besides, you PP lounge network should already cover most / all lounges that diners can access

  • Payall doesn't seem to allow me to transfer to my bank account. I thought that was possible given the comments here, or am I missing something ?

    • According to T&Cs its not suppose to "pay to yourself"
Just pay to your partner, friends or family member…

    • how did they tell you're transferring to yourself's account? did u put your own name when setting up?

  • applied 1 week ago and still waiting. surprised taking so long! usually so much faster

    • +3

Just call the Citibank verification hotline (1800 807 138) (Monday to Friday, office hours)
I called and have to confirm a few incomes, then get approval message within 48 hours

      • Thanks for this, I called them thru this number to follow up and got approved after 10 mins.

  • The 4th night free seems annoying that you need to call up to book it? Looking online, seems other countries you can do it online.

Any comments on availability/pricing when going through citi concierge? Is it just hiked up and not worth it, or do they have reasonable pricing.

    • +2

According to PointHacks its roughly 20% saving comparing to booking via Hotels.com
      https://www.pointhacks.com.au/citi-prestige-fourth-night-fre…

    • +3

I just booked accom using this benefit, and yeah, it was a bit annoying having to call up. Not sure if its just for the first time to setup your account, as they require your CC details. (I'm guessing their systems don't talk to each other).

It was actually a quite a pain booking over the phone. Had to wait on hold for few minutes, then I could barely understand what the operator was saying.
I had all the info ready to go - I gave the operator the hotel name, and dates, and even thought there was only 1 room type for this accom, she kept asking me random questions (what country did you want to go to, what state state is that in, smoking, or non smoking?, did you want breakfast, bed configuration).

Then she wanted the first 6 digits of my credit card, then later on in the conversation, the last 4 digits. Then later on, the full number. It was all very odd.

What should have taken 10 mins max, took 45 mins.

      Was hardly "Prestige" service.

      But I saved $900.
They use Expedia for the availability and price, and the 4th night free excludes taxes. Also, you have to pay upfront in full, then they refund you the 4th night 4 - 6 weeks after your stay.

      • +1

Good to know! Thanks for the update. Seems quite a poor implementation - but worth it considering the savings. Knowing that they use expedia for availability and pricing is good - at least you can narrow it down yourself before having to call up, only to get given totally different prices etc.

      • Do they have a list of approved hotels?

        • +2

I was advised anything on Expedia could be booked.

      • +2

Which hotel was >$900 a night?

        • Beach Club - Hamilton Is.

      • +1

        According to https://www.citibank.com.au/global_docs/pdf/Citi_Prestige_Cr…

"For Citi Prestige Mastercard cardholders: You will be charged 4 nights and receive a credit for the 4th
night. Please note that you will only receive the credit within 6-8 weeks from completion of full
        payment and stay."

Do they mean credit as cash?

        • Question which i'm guessing nobody will be able to answer, but asking anyway.

If I cancel my card AFTER my stay, but before the 6-8 weeks, i'm guessing they will not refund me?

          • @The Hobo: @the Hobo - i'd think that you would still be eligible for the refund as you held the card when you completed your stay. Probably not worth the risk.
Just keep the card open and take advantage of racking up points using All Pay.

            • @T1: Planning on doing a trip next year around Sept/Oct. Would need to pay a $700 annual fee to keep the card, and i'm assuming they won't pro-rata refund if I kept it till I get the refund!

              Conundrums Conundrums!

        • @noongerz A credit back onto the card. Which you could then transfer out to another account.

      • Just rang the citi conciege number, the guy checked with their department managing this and told me they don't provide the conciege service for booking accom anymore due to their recent change of their consum business. What?!. and he mentioned that as long as I book the hotel myself and meet the conditions in the T&C,the 4th night will be credited automatically in 6-8 weeks. Not sure how you can still book the accom thru them.

        • +1

That doesn't sound right. How can they tell if the booking is eligible to be credited for the free night if you book it yourself? I'd call back and speak to someone else…

  • +2

For those who've received this card, how long was the wait between applying and getting the card? I've got an expense coming up and not sure if the card will arrive in time.

    • +1

After getting approved? I think I waited 4 days for the card to arrive.

      • Thanks.

Been a bit of a process. They emailed asking for more documentation but provided no means of giving it to them. Took two phone calls to resolve.

        • +1

Their systems are appalling. I had a similar experience, can't believe how hard it was to apply.
