    Owned by Optus concern me…

    • +9

They have completely seperate billing systems, says on their website that the data issue was not something Amaysim got caught up in. But take that however which way you will.

      • +8

They leaked my data, although some idiot didn’t believe me…

"amaysim customers are not affected by the Optus cyberattack." says this on the banner of the website, but It's Optus owned, they could be straight up lying? Optus certainly has lied multiple times over the last week or so.

        • Who is the idiot does not believe you

        • +1

I believe you, because I am also using amaysim burner sim to keep an active number
Amaysim has forced MFA on for all its users and marketing it as security enhancements just before the Optus breach comes to surface,
sounds to me Optus internal had a fair bit of lead time before they went to the government

        • Thanks Obama.

      • +1

Yeah mate, Amaysim has been caught up in it.

      • +1

as someone who is on Amaysim, i've receievd a tonne of spam calls in the last few days. Much much more than usual. Take from it what you will

        • Make sure to turn off any phone book services that they might add you to.

    • Yep, I'll pass, not giving Optus my details again, they've leaked my details online and now going through the tiring job of replacing my Driver's Licence and Passport, so I won't be touching them or any Optus-owned brands, such as Amaysim, ever again.

  • +3

You better pay us to use Optus…

  • Is that 55gb per month or for the whole 6 months?

    • +4

      Apparently, 55GB per 28 days for 6 renewals. Promo: FINDER55 $30 - $21.00
Finder October exclusive, $9 for 55GB of data for 6 renewals. Ongoing $30 for 30GB/28 days.

      • Is there a data bank if the data rolling to future months?

        • +1

Yes there is unlimited data banking if you keep your plan running

      • do they still use the term "renewal" for the first activation?
6 renewals, does that include the first month?

  • burner sims…

  • +8

miss yhe $6.95 for 6 renewals deal

    • Who what where when?

  • +1

Can this be activated on a prepaid $30 SIM I have already purchased?

    • +1

Probably not by default but I had recently purchased an Amaysim sim and tried to apply a deal similar to this (not quite as good) and it didn’t let me do it online as it was a new customer deal but I argued with someone over the phone and they applied it anyway as I was a new customer still.

  • +1

Looks like they have VoLTE now

    • +1
    • Is VoLTE same as Wifi Calling?

      • +1

Had to ask them to turn VoLTE on which also enabled Wi-Fi calling.

    • Looks like they have VoLTE now

yes, i noticed that a day or two ago. i never saw a volte icon on my phone until then

  • Do they support roaming

    • Yes

    • The only thing liable to roam is our data…

  • +17

If they run on the optus network do I need to verify who I am? Or do they just Google it now.

  • +1

Can i cancel after 6 months?

    • +3

Its month to month, there is no lock in

    • You can cancel after 1 day, it's pre-paid.

  • What about excess data?

    • +1

      It's prepaid.

  • +1

    I can’t even add to cart ..

  • +3

You'd imagine Optus will be rolling out deals nearly for free in the coming months to entice customers.

    • They can start by reverting all recent changes involving Optus Sport….

      • +5

No, they can start by focusing on their cybersecurity …

  • +1

Can I buy a new number now and port my existing number in while activating it later or when the sim card arrives?

    • +1

      Aye

    • Hi did you get this deal and port existing no over when sim arrived did you have any hassles.

  • +1

Any recommendations for a sim that I can quickly buy in-store and swap out for?

    • I normally use Telstra for porting as they don't require a charge to setup.

      • Does anyone else waive the charge for setup?
My Colesworth do not have any Telstra sims sadly. I saw Lebara, Boost, and a few other $2 sims. I picked up a Voda to try my luck, but minimum recharge is $10. TIA.

        • You could try one of these.

          • @Jimbuscus: @Jimbuscus cheers mate, I can see Vodafone on that list. So that means that even though it's a free sim, when it reaches me, I'll still need to add credit to activate it. Ideally a Telstra sim, but that takes time to reach me and I would like to get this done asap. I'll try the local stores for a Telstra sim.

            • @Lord Ra: I wouldn't go with Voda for porting, my recommendation is to pay the $2 from Telstra, they normally use very fast delivery.

I lost my 10yr old number using Vodafone to port, after paying them the +$10 they never released my number, I spent years trying to get it ported out with no luck while paying $10 twice per year until I gave up.

              • @Jimbuscus: Oh dear, thanks for the heads up. Yea, I'll chuck it in the bin, waste of $2, but better than the hassle. I"ll get another Telstra sim. Probabaly check my local stores tomorrow. Cheers mate.

  • Is it $9/month or $9 for 6 months?

  • Hi OP and team, thanks for this. So, will that be $9.00 / 55GB for first 28 days and then $30 per 28 days and 55GB /28 days for next 5 renewals, or $9.00 /55GB /28 days for next 5 renewals?

    • +1

      It's $9 x 6, each 6 charges is 28 days. Then it's 30GB for $30 as usual.

  • If I buy it now and setup as a new service with a new number, is it possible to then port my exisiting number over after a few weeks ? (When my current plan ends)

    • No

    • no these arseholes will activate your sim with your new number before sending it to u

      • +1

Even if you want a new number just say you are porting an existing number when purchasing. This solves that issue. You can still activate with a new number when you receive the sim.

        • nice

        • Second this with ESIM, you can say you will port the number, put in the number you want to port, and you could wait 1-2 weeks to then activate the ESIM via the app. Because they can't port the number until you reply with the 6 digit SMS code.

  • no cashback available?

    • +4

You can get cash back on drivers license, passport and other personal identification.

  • Can I port from Optus?

    • +1

you should be able to as Amaysim is an MVNO

      • +1

        Thanks checkingthisout

    • I initiated my port from Gomo (Optus) over 24 hours ago, hoping it will be completed tomorrow.

    • You can port from any MNVO or Mobile Network.

  • +1

This could also be handy for porting out of another provider & back again considering you're not locked in for the 6 x 28 days.

Might want to add this to the description -

activate by 11.59pm (AEDT) on 15 November 2022

    • +1

      Done

    • +1

I just confirmed via the chat that you can pay now, and the service/billing will start on the date of the port in. https://ibb.co/SVmV7Fs

      • Hi hope you see this.
How do you pay now as they want you to choose “port no over Or choose new no”
If I click port no over with say Optus as carrier won’t they do that before sending the sim
        Apologies I’m confused.

        • I am also wanting to know this

  • +1

Thanks OP. I have placed an order, need international roaming as I am travelling soon.

    • +1

      Nice, safe travels!

    • What Intl roaming do they have? While you're overseas I mean?

  • Does amaysim have visual voicemail?

  • Any credit checks? This seems post paid.

    • +2

      No it's prepaid.

  • What do the professional Sim churners think, take this or keep flipping between boost and co. with the cash rewards offers?

    • +1

See here. Basically use whatever works for your current situation in order to build your own sim slut plan.
I always try to port to a different network, less hassles.

      • True. I have Boost and Voda starter packs past me. Will probably wait till the day this deal expires and make a decision then depending what other deals are trending.

    • This one is only good for those who do not port often, i.e. will stay for 6 renewals. The same plan (one renewal only) was $2.7 after cashback last mth. In other words, it cost more if you only plan to stay for one renewal.

  • Does anyone know what's the definition of 'new' for Amaysim? Does one month gap with another provider work?

    • New service. Meaning the number you are porting in currently is not with Amaysim.
