    Note you will need a more expensive adapter with its own usb power if going from hdmi to DisplayPort

      Are you sure about that? All HDMI connectors, including the micro-HDMI connectors used on the raspberry Pi, have a dedicated pin for +5V power.

        From what I’m reading on them, yes. HDMI doesn’t include DisplayPort support. However DisplayPort does include HDMI. So to go from a HDMI output to DP input requires an active adapter to translate the signal, those adapters I’ve found all seem to require external power.

          That sounds odd, so I did a bit of research, and found you are correct. Only the latest versions of HDMI can provide enough power (5V@300mA) for an active converter, earlier versions of HDMI could only supply 50mA, which isn't enough power.
