harris farm is way more than a farmers market. its basically engineered for a specific type of upper middle class customer

Spot on. Harris farm sold off all their stores in lower socioeconomic suburbs over the last ten years and went all upmarket with mostly ridiculously high prices except for a few door busters

@Punkboy: Fruit and veg usually good prices, they have a lot of expensive stuff but the staples arnt, 2 buck baguettes are a bargain and I raid the discount meat and cheese for great deals on premium goods. Always worth a visit in my case.

            • @shroomish: I do agree that bulk meat packs can be good but a lot of fruit and vegetables are not. Eg Beans consistently 20kg per vs colesworth 5.90 though with some quality variability. I also go but only for specials and select imperfect picks.

  • Bringing back good "Ol' Fashioned Value Buckets"

I've never seen ginger sold in a bucket.

    • Ive done weight comparisons and it always works out a good deal in my experience

Not for all products. Be careful of mangos when they are peak season

      • How much does it work out per kg ?

Peel, cut & freeze for the true OzBargainers!

    • With a spoon for minimal waste.

  • It used to be $80 per kg during covid. 😆

Looks like a bucket of chicken drumsticks.

    I saw today $7.99 1kg locally.

Still can’t believe Colesworth is selling ginger at $50/kg when local shops are selling it around $10-$12/kg.

  • Is this only for redheads ?

Started growing my own ginger after picking up some from the local market. Grows quickly, yields a lot, and it's dead easy. Chuck a few of the rooty bits into a pot and water a couple times a week. Harvest and set aside more rooty bits to plant again. It's the ginger that keeps on giving 😉

As oppose to the other ginger? 🙃
