LG 65" OLED C2 OLED65C2PSC TV + LG SN5Y 400W Soundbar Bundle $3349 (+ Bonus $350 HN Gift Card) C&C / + Delivery @ Harvey Norman

900

Seems like a pretty awesome deal from Gerry. They're offering the same 15% off bundle as JB, but are also chucking in a $350 gift card to boot, making it effectively sub $3k for the TV and soundbar :)

Add the OLED65C2 and LG SN5Y 2.1 and it wil apply a 15% discount at cart, and they will provide a bonus $350 gift card with the purchase.

The soundbar on it's own is $349 on sale.

For those that don't like Gerry, I'm sure you can use the gift card as leverage at JB Hi-Fi to get a further discount off their list price.

  • Which JB deal is this matching? Had a look on their site and couldn't see any mention of the soundbar and tv for $3350?

    • JB have 15% off with matching soundbar which is applied at checkout (both online and in-store). HN have the same now, but are chucking in the bonus $350 gift card on top.

  • Is this model wall mountable?

  • -4

Classic Gerry lmao, it says on their website

Purchase with a matching brand TV and get 15% off!

I tried adding the LG C2 42” but it isn’t getting discounted at checkout

    • +2

It doesn't say that on the 42" listing, the 15% off deal is only for >55" TV's. The 42" only gets a $150 gift card, but no extra discount % with a soundbar.

      • You’re right, I was seeing that on the soundbar listing. Haven’t had my coffee yet haha

  • +1

This or the Samsung s95b which can be had with a soundbar for around $3k after cashback etc

    • Depends if you want Dolby Vision.

    • I am in the same boat. Will be heading to JB today to confirm the cashback promotions on Samsung. (500 from Samsung and 200 GC from JB)

      • Let me know what you decide! I think the factors holding me back on the Samsung is Dolby Vision (as giventofly mentioned) and QD-OLED is a first gen technology. But considering the price, it is quite tempting!

        • +2

          Sure thing!
I've just been watching reviews of S95B. And its definitely a solid choice. Almost as good as A95K considering the huge price difference.
No DV on Samsung isn't a deal breaker for me.

    • +2

Went S95B and no regrets, its the next gen OLED and comparisons between the S95B and the G2, they both had their hits and misses, but overall the colour brightness is 2-3 times usually for R, G and B due to the construction of QD OLED vs the WRGB layout of traditional/LG panels.
I mean you can't go wrong, but I feel a slight premium (and it is only slight now) for the QDOLED makes sense, to me.

      • S95 doesn’t support Dolby Vision…

IMO with so much content out there now in Dolby Vision, I’d rather a C2 / G2 with Dolby Vision to take full advantage of the screen tech rather than screen tech (that is marginally better) that can’t be harnessed to the full extent.

QD-OLED I’d be going with the Sony.

        • +2

You'd be going with Sony? You'll be paying +100% on top, for the privilege of Dolby Vision, and slightly better image processing. Too rich for my blood, that's $6k vs ~$3k for 99% the same product. Not much a bargain, ey?

          • -1

@conza: Nah I’d be going with the LG. That was my point.

            • @bargaineer: Your choice, however.

For the screen tech, I suggest you do some more research first unless you're committed to 77"+

Have a look at this video by Digital Trends, WRGB OLED is still amazing, but QD OLED is the next thing, and it does offer far more than a marginal improvement, in my opinion. And from the takers you'd be mad to go Sony vs Samsung, I would for maybe $500 more say, but Samsung as 4x HDMI 2.1 full bandwidth ports vs Sony's 2, one of which is eARC, not to mention Samsung have the lowest latency for gaming input lag, even compared to LG who have been the undisputed leaders, for years. I've been eyeing an LG for about 3 years, but am glad I missed the C1/G1 sales and opted for the S95B, personally. Personal preference though.

              • +2

@conza: Fair enough… I’ve seen all the companions and understand the differences in the tech.

Dolby Vision creates some incredible scenes that take full advantage of OLED characteristics.. I wouldn’t want to have an OLED screen that doesn’t take full advantage of some of the incredible Netflix stuff that has come out in the past few years.

I hope Samsung one day decides to rest on their laurels and just license Dolby Vision.

              • @conza: Yet you can't even watch 4k Netflix in all its glory because most of its 4k content is DV. Same with Prime etc. Compared to the Sony of course it is better, but to an LG? splitting hairs and missing out on a major inbuilt feature.

                • +4

@serpserpserp: Overall it would be better if the S95B had DV, no question about it. It would also be better for the LG models having HDR10+, but they don't. It's always better to have more choices, ideally there'd be a universal standard, but there isn't just one in 2022, so there we are.

                  However

"There are three main HDR formats: HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision, and they each display HDR content differently and have their advantages and disadvantages. There are other types of HDR formats, but HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision are the most widely used. When shopping for a new TV, you shouldn't worry too much about which formats it supports, because the TV's performance is much more important when it comes to the HDR picture quality."

                  https://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/hdr10-vs-dolby-vision

Additionally, if the content has DV/HDR10/+, they all have a base level of HDR right, so you just miss out on the extra tweaking it is specifically tuned for if your set doesn't support the specific type.

QD-OLED, afaik, should give the highest perceptible* difference from darkness to brights, with the brightest colours so, that was my reasoning. QLED has advantages, WRGB OLED has advantages too, etc.

                  • +1

@conza: There is just a lot more DV tuned content. HDR10+ is really niche in comparison.

Just feels like buying a performance car engine/internals that is inside the standard body of a car that will never see a day on a race track. To everyone else it just looks like a standard car, you know underneath it is a beast, but alas, you'll only ever everyday driving on it and will never go to the racetrack with it because you don't have a Dolby Vision license. Maybe you can take it out all alone to that long stretch of road in the country and fire that engine (HDR10+).

                  • +1

@conza: I’d agree with that sentiment if they weren’t so close in terms of picture quality and scoring.

Like I get you wouldn’t turn down a TV in the 8+ score range for one in the 6-7 range just because the lower one had Dolby Vision.

Yes they all have base level HDR, but that HDR setting is static for the whole movie / show. Dynamic meta data scene by scene makes a huge difference.

Personally I think you should just be able to pay Samsung money to upgrade to support Dolby Vision.

Their lack of support for it is purely a wider strategic move for market dominance for a standard they backed. Panasonic, who also backed HDR10+, started supporting Dolby Vision years ago.

I think it sucks when consumers get caught up in corporate BS like this.

I want Panasonic to come back with their OLEDs. That would be amazing!

    • Not sure if I am missing something but I can't seem to see how much cashback you actually get with various combos of s95b and different sound bars?

      • I think the cashback amount is just based on which TV you buy, per the T&Cs.

        • Thank you! Better than the other way of checking which was checking the retailer websites (eg. Bing Lee) which was showing the cashback in the listing.

    77" $6239 + $500 HN/GC

  • Great deal, good timing thanks my brother was going to settle on a non-oled under $2K, this might get him over the line.

    The 55" C2 + LG SN5Y 2.1 comes to $2,499 + $350HN/GC

  • +18

Combo deals are annoying, I just want a tv!

  • +1

If you are targeted on 28Degrees card you could get another $50 back from this

  • Hmm what to buy this Sony A80K 65" BRAVIA XR OLED 4K HDR Google TV [2022] or LG decisions to make

    • Sony >Samsung >LG imo these days

      • Really? My Sony TV died and the technician said not to go with Sony, instead go for Samsung. He says both Sony and LG are not as good as they used to be.

        • +1

Fair enough! I've been LG for over a decade, and just find more value for Sony, and they run a bit better than the others, Samsung not far behind.

All much of a muchness for general use really though.

Find what suits you best for your situation.

        • +1

Techs say silly things all of the time. After previously working at an ISP the kind of gibberish techs told customers (or possibly, customers misunderstood techs as having said) was astounding.

Sony changed their focus to be more premium (and cost more) about 5 years back with the Z9D. Instead of selling more for less profit, they decided to make more profit on fewer units by going more premium. While that doesn’t mean they actually are more premium, it worked. They turned their whole tv division around. They wouldn’t have been able to succeed at that if they couldn’t back it up year over year.

          Edit: That all said: https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/sony-a80k-oled-vs-lg…

        • Wouldnt believe that tech guy. Lg are phenomenal if you buy top tier stuff such as the oled or QNED. Just dont buy their cheaper stuff as thwy are bad.
I have an lg tv still going steong which is a 3d curved led tv and its flawless
My old c9 65 is still perfect and have forgotten it on sometimes

        • Years ago my Sony tech said they made great TVs with cheap parts when it broke down just within the 2 year warranty period. Told me not to buy one again, but after he fixed my TV with some slightly more expensive capacitors etc. than the factory standard, he said my TV won't break down again and it didn't for another 11 years until it became obsolete.

      • Wow in my experience Samsung is the worst. I always viewed as Sony > LG >>>>> Samsung. Glad to know they are doing better now.

      • My LG Plasma died after 7 years. All TV's should last at least 10 years.
When I called LG, they consider that if any of their TV's last 4 years then they have met the Australian Consumer Law requirements.

  • Hmm damn this is really tempting
How long does this promo last for?

    • +1

Finishes on 28/9/2022, will update the post.

      • All g mate, cheers. Reckon if you went in store, whether they'd let you use the $350 gift card on the purchase of the TV?

        • +2

Probably not as it seems to be intended to use on future purchases, but could potentially try and negotiate with the salesman to see what they can do?

        • +1

          Nope. T&C here:

Gift card is not redeemable for cash and cannot be used in the transaction in which it is issued.

            • @brokeneither: Dunno, you might get lucky and be able to convince a sales rep. Otherwise I’d literally stand next to the register after the sale and offer to buy someone something with your new gift card and they pay you the cash etc.

  • When you add both to cart it says bonus $350 gift card plus $150 gift card when purchased with LG soundbar.
Should the gift card be $500 rather than $350?
The gift card doesn't add to the cart so it's hard to know…

    • +1

Not this particular soundbar, to get the bonus $150 on top, you need to purchase any of the following soundbars with the TV: S90Q, S75Q, S80QY, S95QR.

    • +1

Edit: Beaten but may as well put the list prices here:

      S75Q $649
      S80QY $1095
S95QY $1295 - this is weird as it's not the S90Q as per the TV listing, but the listing on the soundbar says it's eligible.
      S95QR $1995

  • +3

If you substitute the S75Q soundbar (list price $645) instead of the SN5Y (list price $345), you get a $150 gift card instead of 15% off the soundbar. The TV price should remain unchanged. That comes out to ~$500 for the S75Q and ~$300 for the SN5Y. Thoughts on whether it's worth the extra $200?

    • +1

I think it's worth the extra to go the S75Q as you get the dolby atmos and meridian software, how much would it make a difference in a soundbar compared to a proper AV receiver and physical setup is debatable.

  • +1

Thanks. Almost pulled the trigger on the other EBay deal but glad I waited for this one.

  • I'm assming it's ok to purchase using discounted gift cards (from Shopback or similar) to save a bit more? 4 gift cards max online isn't it?

  • is this soundbar actually a lot better than just using the TV inbuilt speakers?

I have a 13 year old Sony 7.2… not sure how these $350 speakers would fit in with everything:
    https://store.sony.com.au/archived-minisystem/HTM7.html

    • +5

      Yes.

      • thanks. How about compared to a 13 year old 7.2 speaker? Just in terms of sound quality.

        • If your 13 year old 7.2 is a premium setup, then it'll likely produce better sound. After all main reasons for sound bar setup is easy set up and less room it takes. Sound quality would be a compromise if you're used to some good quality setup.

          • @npnp: Not sure if premium. But appears it sells for around $400 these days second hand. Price was something like $1200 13 years ago.

I'm trying to see if it's a big upgrade to the C2 65" with speakers over my 55" Hisense OLED + 7.2.

            • @badlores: Soundbar will unlikely sound clearer than your current setup. Will likely have worse bass. But it will be a hell of a lot easier to setup.

TV will have a 39.67% larger screen, and support hdmi 2.1, so more future proof. Will also have advances in the OLED technology.

Really the TV is the point of the deal.

I’d probably move the Hisense to another room and pair it will the soundbar.

              • @Morien: I won't have any use for a 2nd TV as it's just me my partner (who doesn't watch much tv) and our baby, so I'd have to sell it.

Maybe I'll wait then for a TV-only deal. Seems like selling my old tv, new speakers and then having to figure out what to spend the $350 voucher on - may be a bit too much of a hassle.

                • @badlores: I'd personally agree with your decision, and do the same.

  • +1

I have a question. Should i buy this?

    • +1

No. Don’t forget that bill you received last month. It’s overdue.

  • Looks like a good deal but I think I’ll wait for Black Friday hopefully it goes down in price

  • Hmm. Is this the deal that will finally get me over the line? Would really prefer not to rely on gift card and soundbar I don’t need to get the value.

    • +1

Then wait. Prices historically go down at Black Friday and don’t get much lower until runout.

If it was me, I’d be willing to bet on the price being lower in a month and a half (without next to useless gift cards, and unwanted sound bars).

      • +1

        My bank balance thanks you.

  • 2022 World Cup starts 20 Nov and Black Friday 25 Nov so I bet there will be some good promotions (aka price reduction) in the lead up to the games. Personally I am after a 75 one so I will wait a bit see what comes out.

  • C2 + LG sn5y soundbar for $2992.40 using woolworths gift card sale.

    • Do you have a link for the Gift card sale please ? Cannot seem to find it.

  • Another option is JB-HIFI (because F Gerry!) we just bought a Samsung Q80B (75") plus a Q800B sound bar yesterday for $2.9k.. plus we're still to claim the $400 cashack through Samsung so $2.5k total.

Usual cost of TV + SB = $3,794
    Minus 15% combo = $3,224.90
    Minus 10% gift cards = $2,902.41
    Minus $400 redemption = $2,502.41

    Total saving = $1,291.59

    • +6

      Qled isn't comparable to oled

    • @MrKnowItAll can you list where you got the 10% gift card??

  • wow this isn't too bad…I got this "Bonus $350 Harvey Norman Gift Card + Extra $150 Gift Card when purchased with a selected* LG Soundbar!" Wait so we get $500 GC in total?

This could be handy as I need to buy appliances as well

Edit: nvm someone already mentioned this sound bar isn't one of the selected ones

  • Are these PWM/ flicker free?

  • If a mate wants a 77 inch tv for bright room, what would you recommend?
Budget 5k, so cant go for a 77 inch lg c2 which costs double the budget

Big TV syndrome, he drives a big ute too :)

  • Anyone having luck getting JB Hifi to match this?

    • +2

Yes I did just then. I got $350 off the price instead of a GC. I got another $150 from an LG soundbar. JB Westfield Penrith. Nice folks!

      • Woahh nice. Reckon you could post a receipt or something?

        • Sales manager was Joe and the guy who attended me was Glenn. It was a long discussion between the 2 and was generous enough to just give me $500 off the price because they can’t match the GCs. Do receipts really help? I’ve done this a few times and had no luck.

    • Tried my luck with online chat. no soup.

  • +2

https://ibb.co/PhKKtDr Here’s my receipt guys. It’s a bit confusing. So what happened was, they can’t discount the $500 on the till so have to pay full first then refunded me afterwards. It’s only showing the TV I don’t know why so it’s just less $350. You can see the tv is now $2700.

    • So in total, TV + soundbar cost you $3050?

      • I got the S75Q. It’s $3104 altogether.

    • +1

Thanks so much I was able to swing the C2 for $2790 + delivery from your receipt from GG. I can post if others interested

  • +1

I just grabbed this. Got the 15% and $500 voucher.

    • What soundbar did you get ? From HN or JB ?

      • Same as mentioned in this deal title. From HN.

        • You got $150 for SN5Y??
