Did you try "free" ?
Thanks mate grabbed one. Delivery is in Mid October though
Which means keep your eyes open for deals over the next few weeks. LG must have just pushed out a new retailer sell-though rebate or have taken a knife to their carded prices for the next shipments.
Nah it's through eBay so half of it eBay pays for..
Haha the negs clearly no idea how retailers operate through eBay…
Mate, the $1779 DELIVERED* listing price for the 42" is before any eBay promo offers. The extra $100 off is icing on the cake.
Powerland is a small independent retailer in Sydney. After eBay fees and sensitive freight costs, they'd cop a loss on these if they didn't get a substantial invoice discount or sell-through rebate.
*Including a number of regional areas
@[Deactivated]: No idea mate… but sure, you actually know the mark up on these from LG direct let alone staff discount from retailers btw it's pretty good gotta laugh at some of these comments
Like I said eBay pays for these discounts or goes half's with the seller as eBay recoops through sellers fees
@solidussnake: Are you trying to say ebay pays half of the discount code amount, or the amount the price was reduced from rrp?
Its not that hard for me to believe there are people here who do work in roles that know wholesale pricing and rebate amounts.
Why do you think they are doing this? I wonder what it means for future prices, if anything?
LG you mean? Possibly anticipating a competitor move/announcement but more likely it's just the usual (for brands EXCLUDING Apple, Bose et al) consumer electronics sales and promotions lifecycle.
About the only thing it means for future prices is that you're unlikely to see them listed at $2,399 again in Australia. Far more likely to see the RRP be re-pegged at $2,099 which allow the base discount of ~10% to show ticketed prices in store of ~$1899.
Delivery $89 for delivery for me in WA.
Damn, I’m tempted but should I wait for Black Friday or even the C3 as I’m not really in a rush to upgrade…
Who would even know… the C3 is another year away 🤦 can't be too serious then probably never upgrade..
This year is nearly over already
Nahh. Wait for the end of financial year sales. Got my c1 under 2 k with 5 years guaranteed warranty from JBHIFI. Fantastic TV for the price . But if you fork for this price no brainer buy.
Is 42" good as a monitor? I am worried about the burn-in / glossy reflections as I prefer low brightness. If anybody has this TV, how bad are these? Also will RGBW gonna be an issue for coding? Thanks.
Just watched HUB review. Does not recommend to use as a monitor.
Yeah I’ve been reading up on this over the last few days and pretty tempted. Have a 38 lg which I think is probably the best size I’ve used and is great for productivity and gaming, but next to my bigger oleds it definitely lacks something !
If I was just gaming on it I’d have pulled the trigger already - but given I wfh and use my monitor for teams/rdp sessions and word docs I’m not so sure the 42 OLED would suit.
Currently using as a monitor! I used a VESA adapter to slap it on my existing monitor arm.
I'm pretty careful with things like hiding desktop icons and task bar, wallpaper changes every couple of minutes and I use the LG Companion app to sync the power state.
Loving it so far.
Edit: I followed the guide on the pinned thread on this sub and it really helped me - https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED_Gaming/
why not? got 9.0 on rtings for monitor use: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/c2-oled
@[Deactivated]: for burn in depends on how you use it i guess, on min brightness + dark theme and it should be fine
i don't see how you can beat this thing when you're in a dark room at night, its going to be way better for your eyes
funny how they said the refresh rate is low, 120hz is low these days huh
@abctoz: He meant low refresh rate as a Monitor of this price. 144 and 165 are becoming a norm for gaming monitors.
For low brightness, I am worried the reflections starts showing up. Also there is a video posted below by fotato where Linus himself is worried about recommending this as a monitor. If it was a 800$ display I wouldnt be much worried, but at 1700$ and burn-in in 1 to 2 years is not acceptable.
@[Deactivated]: rtings did some burn-in test and you can see the results for 2 years of use 5 hrs/day @ 200nits, in my room I can easily go down to 50nits
144 or 165 vs 120 is not a big diff compared to 60 -> 120, this is lower refresh but the screen real estate is way bigger
I don't even watch those big channels anymore they all spew the same stuff don't trust them anymore lol
@abctoz: I totally agree with you on the 120Hz thing. not like there are many GPUs that can even run 4K 144Hz other than the super expensive 4090.
I'm thinking about the same thing too. Would be nice to use it both for work and movies and games. I almost pulled the trigger on earlier OLED deals, but work wise, I'm talking about 8 or 9 hrs of non stop excel/outlook with no breaks. Surely the menus and the like will result in burn in? After watching this LTT video (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hWrFEU_605g), I think that stopped me from getting the earlier ones. Not sure if this one is better.
I am assuming it would be about the same as C1. If this didnt have glossy finish/burn-in issues, one would be on the way by now.
I bought one of these earlier in the week and have been using it as a monitor on MacOS + Windows for both office use and gaming.
On Mac
Office work - 6/10
Gaming 8/10
Media - 10/10
On Windows
Office work - 8/10
Gaming - 10/10
Media - 10/10
Haven't had any issues with reflectivity, although as an OLED it definitely benefits from as little light as possible in the room.
The discrepancy between Mac/PC is mostly due to Apple's HDMI 2.0 limitation meaning 4K@60hz max, and macOS's high definition text rendering isn't anywhere near as good as ClearType on Windows dealing with the OLED pixel structure. BetterDisplay on macOS has helped a lot though!
Thanks! 42 or 48? Arent you worried about burn-in?
42" - And imho it's as big as I think its practical as a monitor on a desk. Slightly less practical than the 49" 32:9 that it replaced. I think a 48" would be way way too big (If I thought it would work I'd have bought the new 48" gaming OLED from LG)
Not particularly worried about burn in, my cursory research suggested these are pretty safe with pixel shift and the standard health features left on. We've also got a 77" G1 OLED we haven't been careful with and it has no sign of burn in with a couple of thousand hours on it.
@sovereign01: Thanks mate!
@sovereign01: C1 48" works for me as an office/gaming monitor, been using it since release
@SilverRanger: After doing some research, am thinking of getting one for PC gaming and TV series, would 48 on a desk for gaming make it too big?
@sovereign01: Did you leave ABSL on? I'm 50/50 about it for office work. Also dark themeing everything.
@MisterCorey: I just left it on, it's noticeable but not intrusive even in light mode.
Hey, I use this as my primary mac monitor and while the 60hz par is true, I don't see any issues with text rendering. I'm a programmer so I'm looking at colored text for 8 hours a day and it seems as perfect as it gets. I did not install any software either. What kind of issues do you have?
It's an issue for almost all OLEDs at the moment - Due to them not using a standard RGB pixel layout like Windows and macOS expect, text is distorted - Manifests as what looks like aliasing around the edges of characters.

Sit a retina MacBook next to your C2 and you'll notice the difference immediately.
Mate, quick question if you dont mind - I was watching this video by rtings. Doesnt that much reflection bother you? I mean during dark screens, you are mostly seeing yourself most of the time?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWWR1Qz0WRI&feature=share&si…
I've got the CX as a 48" monitor. Still going strong 2 years later and no burn in.
Hi John Doh, I dont comment much here but came here to let you know this. I went from Dell 32 inch 2k 165Hz monitor to LG C2 42 inch, and oh my God was it the best decision in my life. The games are absolutely beautiful and playing them in 120hz 4k is just amazing. TV has actually been made for gaming so I would definitely not worry about burn-in, these are not the first models back in whatever 2018-19 when OLED came out (idk if this is true haha) but you know what I mean. So definitely I would recommend. Honestly so far I dont have any complaints about the thing, it feels great, good quality, and definitely money worth. Also they come with warranty, I got my one from jbhifi and it covers burn in for 2 years so I am not sweating about it.
Hey mate, I just got one as well, did you turn off ABSL in the factory settings or just living with the auto dimming? Interested to know if I should just leave it and live with it.
Hmmh I did play around with settings, and I think I didnt turn off auto dimming completely but put it as minimum. The way I understand it works it will dim the areas that are static like if you have a map in corner or something like that but honestly I have not noticed anything that much between dimmed static areas and the main screen areas (movement, gameplay etc)
Thanks Nick for the review. I was doing my own resarch, and the seller removed the listing. I will see if I can PM at the good guys.
Currently rocking one as a monitor, if you turn oled brightness down then I dont think burn-in is much of a worry, however this thing is bloody amazing, so if I get burn-in in 4+ years then im okay with the trade-off.
Cool Thanks!
I would like one of the 42inch at a Melbourne retailer please.
Really need the 65
Really need the 48
Me too pal
I asked JB online chat to beat appliancecentral and they offered me $2000 plus $100 JB gift card for LG C2 which I think is not bad
Is this the cheapest for the C2? Just checking.
Probably yeah
Has anyone been successful with getting The Good Guys or JB to price match this?
I don't have personal experience in doing so. But, using the 42" as an example, I would be very comfortable starting an in-store price negotiation and have a walk-away price of $1800 (given current pricing activity)
Any tips on how to negotiate price? I have never PMed before.
Negotiation strategy varies on store (and its policies/practices); the day of the month; the salesperson and competitor activity.
My core approach (JB/GG/BingLee) is generally do the research —> show you're keen and cashed-up —> try to snag the deal.
Be prepared to buy but know your walkaway price. There's no substitute for research. Don't attempt to BS your way through.
Tell them that this might be the easiest sale they've done all day as you've done all your research but need to see/touch/hear the product. "Before we start, can you confirm that you actually have one in stock ready to go?" The salesperson will have already mentally notched-up their commission. [demo time]
State that you'd prefer to support a local store rather than buying online - but hoping they might be able to beat the online prices you have seen. "I've seen prices as low as $x including delivery, but it was from a smaller retailer. So I'm hoping you can get to $y ($x minus some reasonable amount) given your scale/buying power".
@[Deactivated]: Sweet, thanks a ton mate! That helps.
Why are the larger models not included in this promotion?
🥲waiting for 65 to be around 3k
So fn tempting. Was waiting for this for so long. Have a g1 77 for entertainment/movies. CX 55 from years ago due to replacing c6 (tried using as a monitor but too large due not being curved like the c6). Have the cx on the side connected to play games (controller only) and this would completed the cake…c2 42… T.T first world problems
42" C2 or Sony's 42" OLED (model number A90K)? It would be used just for free-to-air tv viewing and blu-rays.
Whichever is cheaper.
The equivalent Sony model is A80K. The A90K is a higher-end model which competes with the LG's G-series.
Sony has the following OLED models: A80K (55", 65", 77"), A90K (42", 48"), and A95K (55', 65" <— these are QD-OLEDs).
In the 42" size, there is only the A90K. There is no 42" A80K model.
There is the A1 version of the 55" LG OLED for $1,990 at VideoPro.
https://www.videopro.com.au/product/lg-55-4k-oled-a2-series-…
Plus delivery, or free pick-up in Brisbane.
BUT keep in mind that the C2 is better in many respects than this A2 https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/lg-a1-oled-vs-lg-c2-…
Example: the A2 is no good for gaming but may be ok for just watching movies or TV if you want to save $100-200 depending on delivery.
Bought a 55inch C1 from them and the Bluetooth doesn't work with my Sony XM3 headset.
Do you think the headset would have worked if you had bought the TV from another retailer?
Not sure.
