TCL 65" Mini LED 4K UHD TV - 65C835 $1695 + Delivery ($0 to Metro Areas) @ Billy Guyatts

560

No good for me in WA. But seems like a good price for a well rated 65inch mini led tv for those in the east.

Is this one as good as overseas models or nerfed AU TCL?

    • +10

Pretty sure nerfing AU TVs is a Hisense thing

  • Sales end 28th

  • +1

how is this one compare to Lg C1 or C2 ? thanks guys

    • +1

I am sure this does not come anywhere close to lg C1 or C2. Could be wrong

    • +3

      ur comparing an LED

      to an OLED

The internet suprises me at the questions ppl ask that a quick google will answer for them

Like no,sane person would thing a 1600 dollar panel is beating a 3400 dollar top of the line OLED

        • +6

That worked out well in the pandemic

      • Depends. Value wise, clearly this 4K HDR 120hz mini-led with inbuilt soundbar blows the C1 away.

    • +1

It's much brighter but doesn't have infinite contrast (pure blacks) but has local dimming with a good amount of zones so it can get quite dark for a non-oled. Still for a pure HDR experience the OLED blows it away. In SDR I'd go for the TCL.

Do you think jb hi fi or TGG will price match website?

    • Buy at JB/TGG using a CC with price protection insurance and claim it right away.

      • Which card and how does this work?

I thought the price protection only works on the merchant where you bought it from.

        • +1

          28 Degree Card

          https://assets.latitudefinancial.com/legals/product-disclosu…

          Price Protection
          How does it work?
If you buy an item in Australia with your Latitude 28° Global Platinum Mastercard and within 12 months the item is available at a lower price in the
same retailer or any other Australian retailer, we’ll pay the difference between the purchase price and the lower price to your account.
This also applies to items you buy:
          • for someone else as a gift, and
          • through a mail/telephone order catalogue or online order.
The item with the lower price must be exactly the same as the item you bought, including size, colour, quality and condition, make and model
number, attachments and accessories and the lower price must occur after the start of your Shopper’s Protection policy.
          Give me an example
If you buy an item for $600 and then see it for $400 in a different Australian retailer, we’d pay $200 to your account.

Reviews of these guys seem terrible…

    • +5

What? The reviews of this model are amazing. Really good deal

      • +3

I think he means the retailer, although googling them seems to bring very favourable results?

      • -3

TCL overseas models aren't the same here

The TCL 8 series is not the same 8 series we get FYI

        • Do you have links? Would like to know more about that.

        • How so? Have you got a link with comparison?

        • +7

Pretty sure you are confusing TCL with Hisense.

  • I have a TCL Television and phone. Both are awesome and no I am not sponsored or employed by TCL or anyone selling same.

    • I also have TCL Television and phone. The Plex phone was great until a software update stuffed the 5Ghz WiFi. Still a great phone though, very well built and I am still using it today.
My 55C835 TV is working very well too, with excellent native contrast and very, very good Mini-LED local dimming.

    • I have a TCL Television

I got a 65" TCL for $600 on special a couple of years ago and it has been solid. Sure it's not going to display as well as a $4000 TV, but B4B it's about as good as you can expect.

  • Thanks,

75C835 great value for money too.

  • +5

    Just grab the LG lol

    • +2

      Learnt that the hard way

    • Exactly. Just work a little bit harder, save a bit more money and get the biggest LG OLED you can buy. When you go to the store and look at them all side by side you can see the much better black quality.

      • +3

That's a terrible suggestion, teaching kids to work hard and save up for things. They will always be poor.

Better advise is to work hard and save and invest. The toys will come eventually.

    • +13

I'll bet $10 this guy hasn't actually seen a TCL C825/835 but just assumes it's cheap Chinese junk.

It is by far the best value and bang for buck TV around (IMO), isn't that what we look for here at OzB?

      • -2

No we look for bargains on good quality products like LG OLED

    • +1

I assume you mean LG OLED as most LG LCD are trash quality

  • Specs look great.
USB 3.2 port is conspicuous in it's absence, as are coloured and media buttons on the remote.

    More spec's.

    Other sizes also on sale.

  • +1

This or the new Hisense U8H 65”

    • +3

The U8H doesn't have Google TV in Australia. They gave it to the yanks but not us. I've seen it in person and is beautiful picture, but boycotting Hisense this year for lack of Google TV

      • -7

        blame Google..not hisense

They won't allow hisense to use google TV in hisense tvs anymore.

The U8AUH will shit over this though

The Miniled is far better on the hisense

        • +1

Hisense have Google TV in USA in this year's models…. So not sure that is correct.

        • +1

Hisense have chosen to use their VIDAA Operating system in their European and Australian markets. They use Android/Google in the US.

          • +6

@Snoots: VIDAA is horrible. Poor app support

          • @Snoots: Is it possible to umm, replace or sideload the Google OS into the Aussie TVs?

      • Get a Chromecast for $35? Isn't that full that gap?

        • +2

You would need Chromecast with Google TV. Is only $99 but means you are essentially using the TV as a display whilst paying for Vidaa with original purchase that you won't use. They should have just given us Google TV same as US market.

      • Why Boycott Hisense over this. Any TV you by today will have mid range Mediatek chipset regardless whether it has Android, WebOS or Tizen. In 5 years time you will be using a much more powerful Amazon fire stick or Google stick to power your TV anyway.

        • +6

Purely because they gave it to one market and not the other. As consumers we talk with our wallets. Keep rewarding corporations for cutting corners for the AU market and this is what we will keep getting.

          • -2

@Madkant: I think Hisense are trying to be a bit more transparent and contrite this year. Have you noticed that their 2022 models have the "AU" suffix on them now.

            • +3

@Snoots: I would put giving one market a superior OS whilst cost cutting for another and charging premium prices as not overly transparent.
The market base for mini-led would definitely be a more tech savvy buyer, less you would just be buying an edge lit for at least a grand less.
I personally was sold on the U8H, hitting refresh on the Hisense website daily only to confirm they gave us Vidaa. Is poor form. I'm sure there are other buyers put off by the OS.
I'm not sold on the TCL and may wait another year. Really hard to demo one that is not at waist height tucked away out of sight. Did notice that the TCL remote has a hard button for Stan… Nice to see a company actually cater a product for au market rather then see how they can save money selling here.

              • +1

@Madkant: Hisense price is not premium, they are cheap. We use the fire stick for Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, prime, ABC news. we never use the free to air TV function or the built-in app.

      • But a Firestick 4k is like $50 or a Chromecast about $70.

        Just factor the price.

  • I'm in metro and delivery is $39.

Rather than metro, can we change to selected locations?

  • +1

I got 4 years to the day out of my tcl 65x4us,
Already fixed once under warranty in that time, the options in the settings are poor , and the HDMI arc was terrible, the android system was slow , software updates were via a USB no OTA, screen bleed was poor, remote was cheap, I would definitely spend a extra few hundred and buy lg Samsung Sony. I have a few newer tcls in the kids rooms I hope they don't do bang also .
Just my 2cents, picked up a lg 65nano91 when they were on clearance at JB , chalk and cheese ..

    • I think TCL have a broad range of qualities, from cheap nasty screens to high end mini-LED ones etc, and the feature set matches those ranges. I have just bought the 75" 825, last years version of this one and the build quality is solid, built in sound is brilliant (for built in), screen quality is unreal for an LED screen, much much better than my failing Sony 75" that is only a few years old. Heaps of features in the Android system too. You aren't comparing like for like, different league screen to what you had I would say.

  • +1

Cheaper here and pretty sure it's the same company
    https://www.stancash.com.au/tcl-65-mini-led-4k-uhd-google-tv…

    • +1

But that one has delivery charge separately.

      • Yes but if picking up from Melbourne then it is cheaper or outer metro delivery is cheaper

    • Very strange. I called TGG today and they said they won’t price match from Stan Cash. 😞

  • +1

Highly recommend this TV - excellent picture quality.

  • +1

never had a TCL before but tempted to buy this today (12 year old panasonic died)…is it better to ask a nearby JB hifi to price match so it is easier to claim repair issues vs an online seller?

    • Let me know how it goes.
Worried if they will price match to stancash website? I have an existing order at TGG to make sure they do before calling them up.

    • Unfortunately you won't get anywhere near the longevity out of the TCL , I got 4 years out my high end tcl .

      • Sample size: 2
Life of samples: 4 years, 12 years
Conclusion: No TCL TV will last as long as a Panasonic TV

        • True that , 2.5k for a 4 year tv riddled with problems ….pretty disappointed.

  • +5

I have this TV and it is fantastic. Not as good as OLED but easily the best 65" TV for under $3000 (and its waaay under that!).

Picture is great, sound is better than EVERY other TV on the market (if you want better, you'll need a proper soundbar) Google TV is fast and smooth and integrates well into the home.

I thought this was an absolute steal when I got it for $2000 and would not feel ripped off paying $2500. Unless you want to spend $3000+ on a TV, get this, you wont regret it!

    • +2

How is for reflections? Do you have it near windows?
My room has glass on 3 sides, one of which is direct to the outside, two go through other bright rooms.

    • "easily the best 65" TV for under $3000"
how's it compare to the Hisense 65" U8HAU, Picture wise?, which can be had for around $1800.

      • +1

It’s more or less the same when it comes to features. I ordered Tcl because it has android tv compared to Hisense’s vida os.

        • I think now new range for Hisense TVs 2022 all comes with android tv.

          • @OzPeter: Not the AU Models.

            • @arsenal1: Ooh ok… That's not good…. Why are they doing that way?

              • @OzPeter: Because they can, and they probably think we don't know/care.

              • @OzPeter: Not sure why, but it seems Hisense care more for the USA customers than us. Unfortunately my Q8 has just died and the replacement is going to be a U8H i was informed that its still running the Hisense OS. Not that it bothers me as i use a Firestick. I'm more annoyed that the Q8 was a Va panel and the replacement is a IPS panel.

    • Dodgy Bob, have you got any feedback on reflections?

      • There is some reflection in broad daylight if light coming from side, but i just close blinds and theres no issue. Probably more reflection than my previous crappy tv, but not so much that it bothers me.

If sunlight isnt directly hitting it, theres no issue at all and the tv is plenty bright in a well lit room.

        • Thanks. I can block the direct light from the slide window but not the light coming through glass bricks via glass doors then on to the TV.

Got jbhifi to price match it for $1650 pickup. Now just deciding to whether buy it or not.

    • I’m calling TGG tomorrow (unfortunately no JB Hi Fi within 200km radius nor they deliver this far) to see if they can price match.

    • Very strange. I called TGG today and they said they won’t price match from Stan Cash. 😞

      • 10% off now at TGG + 5% cashback at Shopback makes it not far off from this post if that's something you would consider?

        • It comes out to be 2500ish compared to 2399.
Very strange why they straight up said no to me. Too bad we live in regional with no JB Hi Fi around :(

  • Mayb TCL will have a similar spring carnival cashback this yr?

  • +3

if any one is interested got JB to price match 75inch for 2399.

  • +1

Was going to get this TV anyway, thanks for posting the deal, between this, JB Price match and 5% discount on vouchers i got this delivered for just over $1600. Upgrading my 10 year old samsung, looking forward to it :)

  • +1

I've got a JB online price match link for $1,632.00 pickup (or + $ for delivery) expiring at midnight tonight if anyone wants it.

I have a bunch of TCN gift cards to use, so tried to go in store to pay for it. Multiple stores refused to sell it for me for that price even though I have a valid cart link. Failing that, they also refused to price match Billy Guyatts.

I have $1500 in gift cards to use and since JB doesn't want my business for this TV, I will have to pass on this deal.

    • Can I have your JB online price match link for that TV. Thanks a lot!

      • Your OzB account doesn't seem to allow private messages.

My Account > Settings > Messaging > Allow Private Messages

Otherwise I can post here but someone else might snap it up.

        • Thanks for your reminder ! please try again.Very appreciated!

  • 65" Mini

I guess that is pretty small these days?

  • I've been looking at TV's and this is the one at the top of my list, in 65" . Primarly using it for gaming, sport, some movies, with a gaming HTPC connected. It's true it's not as crisp as a C2, but it's half the price and I won't ever have to think about burn in. I've seen it in the shop and the colours are very good.

I'm just debating whether it's worth it to wait for 'black friday' sales, any chance this TV is going to get even more heavily discounted, or a major brand seeing a huge discount? I wouldn't mind a C2 OLED but I don't think the darker blacks are going to be worth the premium even if it's heavily discounted.
