Lower the number, the better. The 7.x series is usually the lowest for english willow with better graded woods and maybe other differences like handles for lower numbers. The 8.x are usually kashmir willow.
Not sure what the 'grain face' means but i don't think its a typical grade 2 english willow as the higher priced Shadow Pro 4.0 has grade 5 unbleached english willow.
I don't get the naming/versioning/numbering convention in these bats…. Is the lower the number the better? And why don't all store have the same ones
