  • Not sure if its just me but seem the search only finds a few places to stay… Using mobile.

I think you are right. I was booking a hotel which was available on other websites then saw this offer. Agonda website said the place was unavailable…

  • +3

I'll never use Agoda again after they cancelled my booking without warning 50 mins before the check-in time. Their phone support was unapologetic and offered no explanation.

    • +9

That won't be Agoda, the hotel screwed you over. Agoda however should fight for you and make the hotel find an alternative

    • How do you contact Agoda (Australia) via telephone? I'm struggling to talk to them!

  • +6

I've found that the prices are increased by Agoda and other OTA's when users are referred by CR to those sites. Are you really winning by paying more to start with and then getting back the difference in cash back, months down the track?

    • +2

12% can be worth it, if its a business expense.

    • +2

Same here, as soon as click through cash rewards the price increases by $500, not worth the cash back

    • +4

Depends on the hotel. The ones I'm looking at haven't changed.

      • Mine hadn't changed either.

      • Yep same here. Booked hotel through Agoda last week for my upcoming trip and price stayed the same. The price for the same room during the same period however have dropped by about $40 later in the day on Agoda's site and I emailed them for a price match and they actioned the request within 2 hours without questions asked.

    • +2

Agree, check incognito without cash rewards to see if the price changes. Varies from place to place

    • +1

I wont use Agoda again after I found out the price increased after I logged on.

  • +3

Prices are 15% higher when you load Agoda via the CR website…several hotels I am checking out side by side what a joke!

    Not worth it…

  • +4

If TA is reading this, can you please explain why it is more expensive when using the cashrewards link?

  • It's not right that they change the depending on how you enter their site, but it reminds me of that joke about a guy who goes to the doctor…
He says "Doctor, it hurts when I do this." <lifts his arms above his head>
Doctor says "There is an easy cure for that… don't do this." <lifts his arms above his head>

Go to Agoda website, then activate CR.

  • Yep, same experience as comments above. If i type in hotel name in looking for into Google. Assuming Agoda link is cheapest which invariably is. The price is always cheaper (by about the same % as what CR is offering today in cashback) than the price i get when clicking through CR/Shopback. Its akin to lending your savings out for 60 to 90 days for nothing.

  • Great deal by Cashrewards, but as some people indicate, they will adjust pricing based on a number of things, including who forwards you, or whether you are using a mobile device or not.

We had to book accommodation for work recently, and a colleague got a price on her mobile that I couldn't see in the website. I used the developer's console to emulate a mobile, and lo and behold, the lower price shows up.

For years, I used to try to get the best price using coupons and cashback, spending days or hours. By now, accommodation places are sick and tired of paying commission to these types of websites too, and it is not uncommon to get a better price by just going directly to them. Less risky, too.

They jack up prices when using affiliates. Not true 12% discount.
