They still have twye3s chip and are quite easy to pop open. Have flashed quite a few with ch340g+test clips

    • Whats the benefit of flashing them?

Local control, instead of chinese server.

    • How do these ones open up? I remember seeing a guide for another bulb a while back and it seemed like a pain (having to melt the pins on the base and get in that way)

  • These are crap.
    Returned mine after 2 months

    • @easternculture, could you elaborate how crap they are? Thanks mate.

        The colours are dull.
        They keep going offline randomly.
Spend abit more if you are buying them for RGB

Can't be that bad if you were fine for 2 months

      • They were in the garage , as i was lazy to return them initially.

  • Doesn't seem to be nationwide price. Stock at Cockburn but coming up at $19 in Powerpass, unless it's tagged differently in store.

    • Not uncommon for clearance to be different in powerpass.

      • Did not have a clearance sign, but was on discount rack, so I naturally scanned through Powerpass and it showed $19.
When staff member scanned it, theirs also displayed $19. I left them and after seeing the $15, id say thats their true clearance price. Ill follow up shortly, but at this stage ANYTHING to replace the $39 (each) Ge bulbs. They are shocking. Absolutely shocking. Ive much experience with RGB smart bulbs, but I VERY WRONGLY assumed with a price close to $40 each, and from a reputable brand (I note though, not for smart home products) they would be brilliant. But even one of My earlier bulbs from years ago, that werent too shabby and were Brilliant, that i got on clearance for $4 (originally $15) were 1000 times more reliable.

  • +1 for description lol!

  • My non-RGB Arlec bulbs showed up as Espressif devices on the router

That would be the manufacturer of the wifi module used inside the bulb.

  • Came here for the pies

Bought 4 sets of these a while back and they’re annoying to deal with. They lose connection every 3 days and need to be re-paired as they start flashing constantly. I’ve had good experiences with the Xiaomi RGB bulbs, so will be going back to those

    • Not sure if it's a different chip to what I have in my Aldi downlights but they are tuya based and gotta say have been pretty rock solid. Much more so than my bloody Lifx bulbs which are driving me nuts (the newer versions anyway, my originals also haven't missed a beat)

  • Sounds like a systemic issue with Grid Connect, similar to the wall switches…
