    Still haven't used mine lol

      I'm wearing mine right now…

    • Neither and I've had it for months lol

    • +4

I was gonna say the same thing. The zipper would be really annoying for uni so I haven't used it at all. Was gonna save it for travelling overseas, maybe.

My best use of it so far has been to store a day's worth of clothes in the car + my hammock incase I need to go somewhere overnight in a rush (hasn't happened either). So pretty much could be replaced by a plastic bag lol.

  • +23

Probably the most reliable product Dell has ever put out

    • +2

Monitors ? I always use Dell P class monitors, last one is a P2214H which I got for $30, great colours though
Dell is my favorite place to buy keyboard/mouse as well, KB216 for keyboard , MS116 mouse + free shipping

      • +1

We have a lot of Dell monitors at work. One of the 27" 4k ones broke. Chat: not available. Email: not available. Phone: not available. Only way to contact was Whatsapp (!!!). And after some conversation they forwarded us onto their sales department, saying they couldn't help.

        • +3

I had an issue with a dell laptop (the hinge broke as i closed it after 8 months of use) and they fixed it after 2-3 weeks (a technician came to our house and replaced the parts). They kept us in the loop in terms of when the replacement was becoming available, when the technician will contact us via txt and emails.

          • @lunartemis: I guess you had a more expensive warranty. We can barely get in touch.

            • @Make it so: Just a standard one that came with it when i bought it from jb hifi

          • @lunartemis: did you open it from top middle of screen or from corners? Had a tech around to fix my lenovo lappy a few years back, He said my laptop was prone to having hinge break due to not opening from middle. Made perfect sense and i've done that ever since.

        • I buy them from local e-waste recycler anyway, I only got like 3 months warranty or so :D

    • +4

Never had any issues with any of my Dell products. But never have bought the cheap lines. Always Ultrasharp monitors xps etc. Currently on 38 Alienware Ultrawide and it's been perfect in every way.

    • +2

Dell are easily one of the most reliable OEMs.

They are also generally much easier to work on than most of the other brands if you do need to replace a part, and the parts are easier to source.

Acer on the other hand… (especially their budget offerings) … are not great

    • +4

I've manged fleets of Dells and found that over their expected 4-5 year lifespan their repair/ return rate for computers is about 1%, which all things considered is actually pretty good, and monitors fail so rarely that it's negligible. Their consumer offerings/ experience might be different.

I would never buy Acer. Even my personal experience/ extended social network puts their failure rate at about 50% within the expected 4-5 year lifespan, which is absurdly bad. My shed TV is a mid-range Acer gaming monitor which I got for free because after only 2 years it has light bleed, burn-in and HDMI failure.

      • I would never buy Acer.

I was thinking the same couple of years ago, until I got an used Acer S6610 PC, well worth for $105 I spent and I was playing games as well (added a GTX1060), also missus got an Acer monitor for 4+ years now without any trouble. Recently got a Nitro 5 and so far it is good. Acer might kinda better now than those days.

        • I'm glad your missus has been no trouble.

      • Touch wood my Acer Predator gaming laptop has been going well since 2017. The rubber picks up fingerprints really badly but other than that no issues. I've had their cheaper machines and they also lasted but were underpowered even for casual web browsing and movies.

    • Dell doesn't put out - at least not for me anyway :(

  • Nice, finally picked one of these up.

  • Been looking for a backpack, thanks!

  • +6

Have this one. It's ok for $15. It's a bit small, and the large pocket opens inside the back straps, so just be aware of that.

    • Looks big in the photos.
I have been using a Xiaomi bag so I don't want anything too big.

    • +3

I actually love that. Makes it much harder for the laptop to get stolen. I've been using mine to take my laptop to/from work and there's plenty of room for lunch and a couple of other things.

      • +1

Laptop, web cam, over ear headphones, eftpos machine, some paper work, a mouse, wallet, phone, house and car keys, 5 differnt ID tags, charger. Bit of room to spare.

        • +2

Oops, mine is the gaming one - bigger than this model

          • @Drlestat: Was gonna say that pack list is pretty much the same as I have for uni and I think I'd struggle to fit it in this bag, especially with a water bottle/lunch on top.

          • +1

@Drlestat: Yep, I got the gaming one too, with the rainbow pattern on the front. It's my new favourite work bag. I take my 15" laptop, big laptop charger, laptop dock, android tablet, headphones, spare HDMI and USB-C cables, dongles and adapters, 2.5" USB3 HDD, packed lunch, a rolled up towel, wallet, torch, keys, security tags, spare masks, alcohol wipes.

It all fits really well, but the main reason I chose that particular bag over the 15" business bag or the smaller bag is the clip up strap across your chest. I need that on all my backpacks these days, it's great.

    • +3

Meant to be a security measure, so no one can pull the laptop out with the bag on your back.

      • Yeah definitely can see the point of it but completely useless for my day to day life lol if anything it's annoying. The front pocket I guess helps but it's a bit small to hold anything substantial (like food/low value items)

  • +9

    RU OK?

Buy one LTT backpack or 30 of these?

    • +1

      "ltt store dot com"

    • +2

But will the dell version run doom eternal? probably not, but it is a good segway to this sponsor

        • +1

          To hour spawnser!

    • +5

Does this one have a warranty?
      🤣

      • Bahahaha…

    • Trust him bro.

  • These are pretty crap. Would rather a regular laptop bag. But they work.

    • I agree. These are crap. Wish it has compartments inside and wider side pockets. Can hardly even fit an umbrella.
If you have a keyboard, mouse and a headset, there is no space to store packed lunch

      • Most people don't carry a keyboard around with them lmao

        • +5

No on the keyboard. Got it. Grand piano it is. 🤣

          • @xoom: I guess by your standards, a grand piano has a better chance of fitting in the bag.

          • @xoom: If the bag was like the tardis. There will be plenty of room.

          • @xoom: Nah you just need to bring a banana, for scale

        • +1

Oh, I thought everyone bring their RGB wireless mechanical keyboards to work so they can turn red theme on. We all know red goes faster

          • +5

@Brakus: I bring my pink keyboard, mouse and headset bought from kmart to not only flex but to also assert dominance in the office.

            • +2

@xoom: But seriously, I cringe at the idea of sharing keyboards at work.
You just don’t know how many crummy finger touched those keys

              • +2

@Brakus: You gonna hate hot desking then.

                • +2

@xoom: Only option at work which is why I bring my own keyboard

    • +9

      "These are pretty crap."

Hard disagree. I got one the last time these were on sale, and have been using it as my daily driver backpack ever since. I routinely carry my laptop (a 15 inch SurfaceBook 3 - it's a big boi), two Canon DSLRs with lenses, and headphones.

On the weekend it's literally packed to the brim with several kilograms of Magic the Gathering cards and boxes.

      • +1

It's also $13.99. It's good enough for most.

      • Really? It's super thin and the zippers are annoyingly positioned. They are behind the straps and it really annoys me every time I gotta get something out of it.

        • +3

It's super thin and the zippers are annoyingly positioned.

Its a security feature. Stops schmucks from opening your bag while you got it strapped to your back and pilfering the contents.

      • Was it this one you got, or the "gaming" 15" model with the rainbow pattern on the front? The gaming one is bigger, fits way more, and is better build quality.

        • No, it's this exact model.

  • Is 450 grams lightweight?

    • +3

what exactly are we talking about?

      • +9

        Boat anchor.

  • +3

have one, it's a bit narrow (depth wise) and semi annoying how it opens from the back under the straps. Could do with some more inner compartments/pockets. Can't really fit a lunchbox if bringing it to work etc, unless you get a narrow box, but otherwise quality is decent and is fine for a laptop.

    • +1

semi annoying how it opens from the back under the straps

Isn't that to stop someone opening your back pack and stealing your laptop while you are on the move?

      • Yeah I think that's the point but it doesn't stop it from being annoying. To get good access to it I've gotta move the shoulder straps out of the way to open it.

Depends on your use case I guess. The zip at least feels sturdy

        • Can be annoying but a lot less annoying than getting robbed.

I have a camera bag that is also same zip. It also has partitions which hold the camera. In some countries they are experts at slicing the bottom of back packs and bag to take all your stuff. So don't hold your valuable stuff at the bottom. Always in little pockets inside.

          • @netjock: Yeah it's definitely an important point. I'm not so much complaining about the bag, it's more that I got it for the wrong thing. If I ever travelled (one day lol) I'm sure it'd be awesome.

  • I got the laptop messenger-style bag instead. It was $15 or something similar.

  • +1

    thanks OP copped one.

  • +5

The Essentials Briefcase 15 is also $15 down from $35

  • +7

Bought last time, too small, I look like a tortoise with this bag on 🐢

  • +5

Bought this the last time it was on sale. The main compartment to store the laptop can only be accessed from under the straps. Got used to it after a while. The other smaller compartment is not large enough to store a lunchbox.
For the price, suppose it's good enough

    • -1

I bought one of these last year. Whoever designed it was obviously drunk. Putting the laptop sleeve underneath the back straps is madness, totally inconvenient. It's been sitting alone in a cupboard since the day I received it.

      • +6

"Putting the laptop sleeve underneath the back straps is madness, totally inconvenient."

It's a security measure. It means that some gronk can't just sneak up behind you and steal your stuff. Most good camera backpacks use the same system.

        • Lose a $1k laptop (or a $2k camera) with a $15 back pack. That would take the cake.

    • +1

100% agree regarding the small compartment. It'd be good if that was bigger, even as a travelling bag it's nice to be able to access food, water and other basic items without having to open up the main compartment

  • I want a deal on the vindicator!

  • +1

Bring back the gaming lite backpack.

  • +2

I bought one of this few months ago, it's quite small.

    • +2

Toughest job was find those small models to make the back pack look big.

In all seriousness. Probably big enough to fit a 15" laptop and some extra around the edges for padding and a 10cm height for a storage compartment and that is it.

      Width 31 cm
      Depth 14 cm
      Height 43 cm

For $15. The zipper would probably cost $10 at Spotlight :D

  • How many crackers will fit in this bag?

  • Got one from them since the last deal (with red highlights). Pretty solid backpack considering my very rough usages.

  • +1

Got one from the last deal. Pretty decent, would never buy at full price. Laptop fits nicely in its compartment, not the best bag for putting a lot of bulky stuff. Only big complaint I have is that the side pockets are way too small. Unless you have a thin bottle, it won't fit but its fine for smaller/thinner things like small umbrellas, hand sanitizer etc.

    • Agree with this Re side pockets. Not a big fan of this bag but for $10-15 meh it is ok I guess.

  • +1

Been using this bag each day for work, and for the most part, it's OK. Part of the material next to the zipper has been frayed since day one, and means it's hard to open and close, because it catches each time. Plus, because the main compartment is under the straps, it's easy to drop the bag when trying to zip it up (damaged my work laptop in the process).

  • +1

I have this. Its good for the price. The side pickets are very small and dont fit a 600ml water bottle.

  • +1

$14 seems like a good punt to carry the new Lenovo lappy. Thanks OP!

    • Doesn't that void the Dell warranty?

  • +1

Does anyone have a better alternative for a cheap price?

I use a Targus which I love, but the model is long out of production :(

  • +1

Regarding the straps over the zipper - the video shows that you should reverse the staps over the front of the bag and that makes the compartment fully accessible.

  • Got one… hope its Ok for general use :)

  • Once (last year) I got a Dell gaming backpack 17 for $12 from Goodguys. Using now :)

  • The front pocket is a lot smaller than it looks, it's about 50% of the main laptop pocket. I shoved too many cables into the front one and broke through the seams.

  • I'm still waiting for my last Dell bag order from months ago, no update, no response, pretty poor service.

    • Did they charge your card for the order?

  • Place the order last week. My PayPal transaction is still pending (i.e. card not yet charged).
Is this the norm with Dell orders?

    • Saying mine is dispatched yesterday.
