The infamous tricky UGG 😆. Will not honor returns.

    • Oh? Can you please provide more anecdotal details on what happened? Cheers.

The best I can tell is that ozbar gets confused between Ugg Australia and the many Ugg retailers selling on ebay.

First comment ozbar ever made was calling out Ugg for being a big scammer on ebay (they do not sell on ebay) and there was much confusion abound in all following comments on this brand since then.

    • This is not my experience. I PM'd the OP directly here on ozbargain, great personal customer service and I received a return label via email the next day.

Australian merino upper + Chinese sole= 100% Australian?

with the high density Eva sole for a longer lasting, durable wear

A quick perusal of previous posts will show peoples reports of soles peeling off in weeks

    • Obviously people will have varying experiences, but I've had my mens boots for just over a year now with no issues at all. Kids' boots have also held up just fine, in women's and kids sizes.

I've had my mens boots for just over a year now with no issues at all.

I suspect the majority will not have any issues

its what you do when you do have issues that matters

        soles that peel off
        stitching that gives way
wool that thins rapidly- you do not expect these issues in weeks or even a couple of months if the shoe was individually hand crafted and genuinely worth 165, and now a bargain at $53

this company has no phone number if you run into issues
infact the only Aussie ugg manufacturer not to have a phone number- that to me is a red flag

the only way to contact them if you have issues is an email
a quick perusal of previous posts- your multiple emails are likely to get ignored until you complain here- another red flag

these issues have well documented since 2019 if you check this companies posts you will find multiple anecdotes of poor quality of boots (for the unlucky ones) and worse customer "service"

The biggest disappointment is that since 2019 they show no signs of wanting to change their modus operandi, keep posting on average 3 deals every two weeks, and have issues with any one pointing out their defects, without wanting to actually address these issues

        • Yeah, fair enough. Customer service is definitely a purchasing factor (its why I sometimes pay a bit more to buy from Amazon sometimes… returns are no question and stupid easy).

I do have an anecdote with their CS though. We ordered a pair that should have fit my oldest within their child sizes, and needed to return for a women's pair. We were able to do so fairly easily.

I'm going to get on the blower and tell them off for not having a phone number!

@MorriJ: must be a fairly new development

as of July OP had confirmed their phone lines were switched off https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12427774/redir

            • -1

@docians: I didn't actually get on the blower, was just going off what they had on their website. Poor form as pointed out to not have a way to be contacted via phone sadly. A pre-roll message on answering explaining who they are would have been a much better option than just "switching them of".

              • @MorriJ: I think it was just an excuse- the reason for switching off their phone

As previously, going back a few years the feed back was that their phones were never answered, went directly to voicemail and the mailbox was always full!

As good as not having a phoneline

Out of interest what do people generally regard as the best ugg boots?

    • I would love to know this. Perhaps EMU, or the Decker's ones?

      • Yep, they had the original trademark but it was removed

The logo has a Bigger middle "G" on top of the other letters in "UGG"

    • When I was researching Uggs I came across a couple of recommendations for 'Mortels Sheepskin Factory'. Unfortunately I have yet to see them go on sale and as I don't own them can't personally endorse them

    • I've purchased a few different ugg brands over the years, mainly as gifts for family and friends in Oz and Canada. Ugg Australia has been very good, as has Emu Australia and Shearers, but the most impressive of the Australian made boots were probably the Jumbo brand. The Emu waterproof (made overseas) was the best presented. My personal indoors boots are Ugg Australia Eildon's (made by Ugg Aust) and have just finished their fourth winter! They're still in great condition other than the flattened insole needs replacing.

  • how is their sizing? Do I just buy same as I would with sneakers?

    • I bought mens 8, normally euro 42 which is US 8.5. Fit perfect
      .

  • Anyone know if this is the brand they sell at Myers? Not that the ones from Myers are anything special. Who really wants a 4 year old pair of Uggboots anyway

Terribly annoing website's popup info that someone just bought something from them, distracting, there no way to appropriately see the pictures details. Does hold me from buying just because they disrespecting its customers.

I can provide my feedback here based on experience.

Ugg Australia is a quality product. I had a previous pair that lasted over 4 years of almost daily wear, that I purchased directly at their factory outlet when it was in Brunswick (plus scuffs, and several pairs of kids uggs that have been passed down to cousins once our kids were done). I have just purchased a new pair and the quality is the same as it always was to my eye.

What to look out for (if it is a factor for you) is that the "Ugg Australia" boots are their premium uggs, while the "Made by Ugg Australia" are not. The only difference I can identify is the sole - and this information is openly shared by the OP that the "Made by Ugg Australia" has a chinese made sole.

Provided you know your size, buying the "discontinued stock" via the website has some great priced uggs. It is clearly called out that there is no return on discontinued lines, and the return/exchange conditions are also on the website.

really happy that your previous purchase went well
hoping that your new pair also lasts at least four years

unlike mine that lasted four months
      as have many others

What to look out for (if it is a factor for you) is that the "Ugg Australia" boots are their premium uggs, while the "Made by Ugg Australia" are not

      very interesting to know
so what is being flogged here by the company?
Ugg Australia or the not so premium Made by Ugg Australia?

more importantly does the store rep know there is a difference

there was a question asked in one of his previous posts

Whats the difference between those on the site branded "UGG Australia" and the brand I received last time "made by UGG Australia"? Different labels from the ones shown in the website you link and the website on my tags(www.madebyuggaustralia.com.au doesn't work. They appear counterfeit. Please can you explain

to which the store rep's answer was

There is very little difference, both made here in the same factory in Laverton.

      again he was asked

Are you going to send this brand again for this deal or the actual brand advertised?

      the store rep's reply

To clarify, opal, made by ugg Australia and Ugg Australia are all made here in Laverton exactly the same way, with all the same materials.
The sole and tag is the only difference.

The implication being that even though the customer ordered UGG Australia and received a Made by Ugg Australia, there was not a significant difference

to add to the confusion on the actual website both UGG Australia and made by Ugg Australia are listed as having high performance EVA sole with no mention of country of origin

The only difference I can identify is the sole - and this information is openly shared by the OP that the "Made by Ugg Australia" has a chinese made sole.

      I must have missed it
could you please point out where this information has been openly shared by OP?

Does this mean that the Ugg Australia sole is made in Australia?

Provided you know your size, buying the "discontinued stock" via the website has some great priced uggs. It is clearly called out that there is no return on discontinued lines, and the return/exchange conditions are also on the website.

As per the ACC it is unlawful to state that there is no returns; unless I have understood it wrong

      https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees…

Signs stating ‘No refunds’ or ‘No refunds or exchanges on sale items’ are unlawful, as they imply that it’s not possible to get a refund under any circumstances, including for faulty items. In fact your consumer guarantee rights still apply

so unless I've understood it wrong, they should not be saying no returns on discontinued items?

Ugg Australia is a quality product.

would you agree if your boots looked like this after four months?

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11244427/redir

      or like this? https://ibb.co/ZmSvTq4

      or even like this? https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/27678/91929/ugg.jpg

none of those scream quality to me unfortunately

neither does a recent review like this

bought 2 months ago and the sole is peeling away from the upper on one side… toes coming through

  • Code isnt working for me

  • Mine arrived during the week and not impressed . My last pair lasted 4 years but they were "MrSheepskin" but have gone out of business .
The actual skin seems very thin and papery compared to my much thicker softer Mrsheepskin boots .
Worth $53 (so long as they last a couple of years) but no way are they worth 3 x that .

    • mine have also arrived, I'm also not very impressed with their quality

  • I have ordered online and chosen to pick up at their Laverton Factory Shop in Melbourne. Unfortunately their system is not working like others; email to let customers know their orders are ready to be picked up never come!

    • Hi Apologies for no email being sent out,
We are totally stock service, therefore your order will be instantly ready for pick up between 9am-4pm (Monday-Thursday)
      Warmest Regards,
      UGG Australia
