While I'm waiting for my laptop I keep checking in on current prices, thought this was pretty good for the top spec version of the Slim 7i.
Currently also possible for a further 15% cashback at Cashrewards which would bring it down to around $2,200.65. Would have really been hard for me to resist if I hadn't already brought mine.

(Discount codes should apply automatically in-cart.)

The gpu is abit of a meme ?

  • +3

Quite a lot of coin for a gaming laptop with a 6GB GPU in this day…
But the Legion fanboys will still froth over this anyway

    • Is there a better one?

      • +5

For example even an ASUS G15 with Radeon RX 6800M (performs just like a RTX 3070TI) can be had for $2298 currently from Harvey Norman and the 6800M has 12GB VRAM. Much more suitable if you're wanting to game at quality graphics settings over the next few years at least. The 6GB in an RTX 3060 is starting to become an issue for the latest AAA games if you want good looking textures at least. From retailer experience, ASUS laptops in general are much better quality than Lenovo laptops and have a much lower return/repair rate.

Of course there are other factors to consider in a gaming laptop but even then the ASUS G15 works great as a laptop by itself with excellent battery life (would last far longer than this Lenovo on battery) for example.

You amd fans always pretend that rtx and dlss doesn't exist. Strange how you don't mention the "blow out the water" gap it creates.

Please don't even bother throwing AMDS version of it at me, it's supported by one game. One.

          • +7

@[Deactivated]: I actually own a gaming laptop with an i7 12700H and RTX 3070Ti so I find your comment hillarious to say the least. I'm no fanboy, I just go for whatever is best value at the time of purchase like most OzBargainers.

            • -3

@ChineseElectronics: Your story needs more beautifully raytraced dragons.

              • +2

@[Deactivated]: Your acting a little sensitive to someone just providing an alternative option which has more powerful GPU, in terms of rasterisation, at a better price point.

The fact that you accuse someone of being in a specific multibillion dollar companie's camp already, seems to indicate that you blindly follow another multibillion dollar company. These companies are not your friend. They are there to profit from you.

Proprietary RTX tech on a 3060 mobile is very taxing on FPS to the point that it's not worthwhile. Ray tracing maybe worthwhile in next gen 4000 and 7000 series GPUs but it has yet to be seen.

Proprietary DLSS tech is good in games that support it, but it's false of you to say that AMD's open source tech FSR is only in one game when in reality there are 70+ games supported. FSR has also benefited Pascal owners by being open source despite NVIDIA not providing support with their proprietary tech.

                • -1

@shellshocked: FSR is not the direct competitor to DLSS, and it's not as good. Which is why they made FSR 2. And it's not as good, either.

The same tired old talking points still avoid/refuse to admit that DLLS/RTX exists, works, and is superior.

No, AMD has no edge over the RTX series, pound for pound, when this is admitted and taken into account. Cope.

                  • +1

@[Deactivated]: Unfortunately your someone who seems not to realise that DLSS has also progressed from version 1.0. It's currently at version 2.4.12. Previous implementations prior to 2.3 had issues such as ghosting, which have been reduced over time. Please refer to the Hardware Unboxed review of DLSS

                    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kIJOTfOG8s

I would expect the both Nvidia and AMD to be improving their software over time, considering they are large companies with very big software development teams.

Both companies have their advantages and disadvantages. There are plenty of 3rd party reviews online to indicate that with a simple search but you seem oblivious to it.

                    • @shellshocked: Thank you confirming which products had more development. Which was the point.

        • +3

any general throwaway comments like this brand is good, that brand is bad…are not really relevant. Your experience good or bad doesn't mean the next person will be the same. We are not talking about $2 shop toys that are generally bad to being with. All the major manufacturers have their own edge over each other.

no need to get into endless argument over one is better and another is bad.

decide what's worth for you and enjoy the games.

  • +2

Dont forget $62 for the 3 yr warranty upgrade over the standard 1 yr

    • +2

No, that is just "3Y Lenovo Smart Performance SW", not 3 yr warranty, which would be extra $143.

      • What's the difference

        • I have no idea, but for the "3Y Lenovo Smart Performance SW", I don't think it would cover any hardware issues.

  • +8

    overpriced for rtx3060

    • +1

Glad i am not the only one that feels this way. I wouldn't feel comfortable dropping this much on a Lenovo in general from experience.

  • +2

Wow how many sales do Lenovo have in a year!
    I can’t tell what’s a good deal anymore

  • +4

This laptop is kind of neither here nor there with such a low TDP (100w?) poorly cooled 3060 that can't drive a 2k screen

Better to get a Legion 3070 which has awesome cooling and a great overall experience and get a cheaper portable laptop rather than try to game on this

Even my Legion 2060 would probably be equal if not better than this for plugged in gaming

Either that or drop gaming and get a cheaper run-out Slim without dedicated graphics would give you a good experience for cheaper

    • I think the Legion 7 Gen 6 (RTX3070) went for under $2400 in the recent Lenovo Ebay 20% sale. That would be a better buy but it is not as portable as this model.

  • +4

Good value, is hardly a bargain.

    • Good value is the best kind of bargain

  • +5

    Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop (15.6" FHD, i5-11400H, 8GB DDR4, 512GB SSD, RTX3060 6GB) $1098 + Delivery @ Harvey Norman

    • +2

Up vote this option. I have the this model and I'm pretty impressed with the performance. Fans get a bit loud.

    • +2

yes, I just came here to write exactly this.

100w 3060 is just 5w "faster" than this Acer. so what are we really paying more for here, Lenovo isn't known for great slim gaming laptop designs

my Blade 17 I got from a recent deal for $1919 has a 130w 3060, and on Balanced it pulls around 105w. that gives roughly 75fps in Control, or 120 with DLSS

so what are you going to be able to play comfortably with a 100w 3060 on a 2k panel?

strange product this Lenovo laptop. not a lot of value at this price

      • +1

actually acer one can be run at 130 W with VBIOS upgrade as mentioned on that thread, I am using that at 130 W.

look like you can get free Call of Duty https://softwareoffer.intel.com/ as well,

        • haha nice one

    • can you upgrade the ram in it?

      • +1

        yep

      • +1

Don't forget that the Slim model only has one SODIMM slot where the other channel is soldered on the mainboard. So this model would have been 8GB soldered + 16GB stick = 24GB.

  • $2,400 such a good price for new tech, massively let fown by the inferior graphics card i will still flog you with my G7
