    T&Cs for $300 free credit? Does it have an expiry date once activated, and can I put my plans on hold and use some of it later?

    I got burned with bare metal server from OVH. Bought 1 and then realised very quickly that I don't have the necessary skill to confgure and maintain a bare metal server.

    Couldn't even get it up and running, asked for a refund and got rejected.

    Is a dedicated server the same as bare metal in term of setting it up and managing it? I have some server admin skills but apparently not enough.

    EDIT : Just checked it and yes, it's the same one.

        Because I can't even get it up and running, so I can't consume the service/product that I bought.

        Anyway, it already expired and I didn't renew, I chalked it as lessons learned, albeit a rather expensive one.

        Went to another provider with better offering.

          I think they are within their rights not to refund you. They give you the agreed service and it's entirely on you that you can't consume the service.

          I don't think you get refund if you book an escort and can't get it up either

            At least said tricks throw me a hug & a "there, there dear", not just unhelpful links in place of customer service…which keeps me going back.

            @Indomietable: Depends on how long he had the server for, if he didn't use it for a week and asked for a refund they could have not been (profanity) and just given it to him considering they'd lose nothing

              @Lebofly: The provider took the risk of purchasing all necessary equipment in advance and pay employees to setup the whole thing to be able to provide the service. He also agreed to contract them to provide the service for a month where no one else can use the server beside him. Lots of upfront cost incurred to be able to automate and provide dedicated servers. Stating that 'they lose nothing' is not fair.

              Imagine If you own wedding venue and you've been contracted to host a wedding for a day. Both party agreed on T&Cs. You prep the place, setup sound systems, tables, etc. If the customer can't make it or use the venue for only 2 minutes would you give him refund?

      If you are referring to the hosting location, not all of these deals are available in our local Sydney Datacenter indeed. To summarise:
      - Dedicated servers: No current promotion on server hosted in Australia but many servers are available downunder: https://www.ovhcloud.com/en-au/bare-metal/prices/#filterType…
      - VPS: current promotion valid on all hosting locations including Sydney datacenter
