Gunnar: that advertising had no effect on me whatsoever!

      • Any deals on Spy Cameras?

        • Are you going to eat them?

thats great price. thank you OP

"Number of recorded pixels 2560 × 1920", so >$200 for a 5MP camera with wi-fi and a built in printer. The "hybrid analogue"… well, it's a bit of a stretch to attempt to suggest this in any way matches analogue film resolution:

"Print pixel count 1600 × 600 dots (800 × 600 dots when printed from smartphone app)"

"Print gradation RGB gradation of 256 colours"

    It's a toy.

Thanks for this - saved me from an impulse buy

Each to their own - I love instax mini. The film is only the size of a credit card so the resolution is fine.

We have the wireless printer which works great, this is the next logical step. It's obviously not meant to be professional grade…

      • -5

Indeed. It'd fun - my beef is with the implication that you are shooting to "film"…

        • +3

That's next level pedantry - what would you call a polaroid if not film?

    • +2

Yes, if you look at some reviews online, this is a "toy" or "fun" camera, not intended for professional/hardcore use. I have 2 LomoInstant and they work great, but sometimes i need the flexibility of knowing my shot will be ok before taking it, or some help on low light settings to avoid wasting film. The resolution on the digital file is just enough for it to be transfered properly into the film, it's not looking to replace your phone camera. That being said, you can transfer photos from your phone to the camera and print them to get even better results.

      • how/why are people thinking this is a professional camera? the word doesnt even appear on the ebay listing.

        • +1

Because people are pretentious and feel the need to justify their purchases of expensive gear for their hobbies. Posts like this must trigger these people because it seems like they come here to let everyone know that they're adults and they play with "real" cameras - not toys.

There's even a guy a few comments down scoffing at referring to Instax film as "film".

God forbid someone actually gets some enjoyment out of the novelty of instant film at an affordable and accessible price point.

    • The analogue is referring to the instax film

The cheapest colour "film" used to be slides, as the processing costs were built into the price.

You wouldn't get to see the grain if you blew that up to A2 size. This chappie says it best:

" Since its an apples and oranges comparison it is subjective but here goes.

The most common method for calculating is to scan at progressively higher dpi until you get the smallest grains or artifacts you can find.

35mm negative gets you around 20 megapixels assuming all is handled well"

120 film (so a bit closer to polaroid if you consider the print the negative) can be 40 - 63 megapixels (using a drum scanner which I don't think would be suitable for polaroids..not sure, never used one)

So lets take the lower number and say 40 megapixels. Which isn't too shabby.

8x10 prints could get you up to 1200 megapixels!"

Calling this "film" is a little like calling Pringles " food" :-p

        • Pringles are food, You can make mash potato from crushing them ;)

        • Calling this "film" is a little like calling Pringles " food" :-p

ie, true unless you are drawing arbitrary boundaries to support your own neckbeardy gatekeeping?

    • Of course its a toy. Its no Nikon.

    Yes! got one finally!

the big draw card being able to preview photos before they print

Instax LiPlay does the same, but cheaper

    Not huge differences between them

  • Waiting for the films to come down in price..

I bought the Sony A1 instead, it's just a little more expensive though.
