  • NSFW thumbnail?

    • Not sure if it was edited, but manual grinders usually resemble a phallic shaped object.

      • the grindr deal's thumbnail was mosaiced

I would recommend to read the reviews on Amazon before buying this.

General rule applies here too. If you only drink coffee because it has caffeine, then this grinder will at least mostly work, but have a shorter life due to QA/price.

If you're only drinking coffee for the caffeine however, I'd question why you're not just getting preground beans.

    Just get the Hario.

This grinder is generic junk - I've had one, its good for it's price but very ordinary.

In hand grinders alone I've had this, a kyocera (which is near identical to the small Hario) and a large Hario. All were pretty so-so.

The best hand grinder I've used - is the one I am still using, which is the Timemore Chestnut C2. It's fantastic - and while you can get better IMHO it's right at that point where you start to get diminishing marginal returns for paying more.

Is incredibly well made - came pretty cheap off Aliexpress. Great grind consistancy and with big carbon steel burrs really makes quick work of a full load of beans. Buy with confidence.

How much should the Timemore be? Know nothing about grinders but buying as a gift. Looking on AliExpress, there is a range so want to make sure I get a legit one.

      • How much should it be? I've no idea - I bought mine in NOV2020 for $USD62. The 1zpresso is also very good but I tad more, the Timemore used to be around half it's price - if the gap has closed, perhaps the latter is viable. Really depends on whatever the best price is you can find now, I'll leave the legwork to you.

Legit one? I don't thin there's fake Timemores, there's other generic grinders even some that are ok - but you know what they are. the real C2s are pretty obvious buy what you like.

That's perfect. Most were around the $62 USD mark so good to know because I had no idea what one should cost.

    • Also keen on the AliExpress options but yeah there's a bunch listed so not sure which one to choose

  • Time to try Espress coffee - have never tried it before.

    • +1

      Oh! Maybe it's a typ.

I would recommend this. Used to grind coffee and weed. Now predominately for the latter. Can't fault it

I bought one of these for camping, used it a few times and it seems reasonable for the price. I've got a Hario Skerton too but this is much smaller and doesn't have any glass.

I look at these from an espresso perspective so not sure how they go with aeropress, pourovers etc.

All of the ceramic burr grinders I have tried have required a long time to grind for espresso, and fairly lacklustre results. I have fallen for a few of the "bargain" ceramic coffee grinders, but they end up in the bin for me anyhow.

I would give this one a miss and look for grinders with machines stainless steel burrs instead of ceramic. There wont be any for $10, usually $80+ but at least they will actually make you a nice cup of coffee.

Popular options are 1zpresso Jx series, or timemore C2 for lower price.

There is also the Wacaco exagrind and the normcore v2 which look interesting for ~$175.

My suggestion for decent espresso machines is the 1zpresso jxpro, but it costs $250 or more.. equivalent electric is about $600 tho.

  • Thanks. I bought another one. It can be used for any grinderable dehydrated spices.

  • Good for grinding spices but I would recommend something better for coffee grinding.

  • I also like the Kingrinder K4 from aliexpress for espresso (around $180), I think there is a sale on later today for a slight price reduction

  • still has the 70% off (-50% + -20% voucher) but seller has jacked the price.
