Anyone know how to get $10 credit from Telstra for porting in via chatting? Request first or porting in first then request? Thanks

    • Yes I like to know as well please

    • +4

Port in first and then request. Be persistent, if the first Telstra agent doesn't give you the port in credit. Also, don't hesitate to ask for $20 port in credit.

      • Does anyone have a link to Telstra’s port in credit? I can find old references on forums and whirlpool but nothing on Telstra site.

        • +1

You need to speak to a Telstra representative via the My Telstra app. Select Get Help and then Message Us.

          • @speirsy76: Thanks, I was just hoping to be able to link them to a reference in case they push back and say we not eligible.

        • +1

I recently did it. I just asked them if they could apply the $10 port in credit to my account, after a few tries it worked. Don't mention JB because some reps might tell you to speak to them instead.

          • @tanzy: That is probably a one-off. Please report back when you get next month’s bill if you can.

            • @Save 50 Cent: They sent me an ' Understanding you changes' pdf. Says 'first monthly $59' next column says 'on-going monthly cost' $59

              • @tanzy: So the $10 credit is a monthly $10 discount for the 24 months?

                • @RichardMelbourne: I'm on the 12 month contract so I'm hoping it'll least be till the end. I'll report back on how it goes.

                  • @tanzy: Got my first bill

Says ' valued customer support 6 months' credit : $10. Guess it's only for 6 months then, hopefully.

      • $20 is hard…

        • +1

Its not hard its just random.

I got $20 off on first go and the guy also applied a $40 discount on my second $99 plan. Which made my $99 plan the almost same price as my $69 plan.

Last year I got onto live chat and got them to confirm the $10 port in before I signed up to the JB deal made sure to get a reference number from live chat plus if you use their telstra app to message support it's all tracked anyway.

After signing up in store at JB I went home got onto live chat and requested the $10 credit, they ended up giving me $20

    • port in first. Chat will deny any knowledge of such offer so just thank them, quit and start a new chat. you'll eventually get a friendly who will process it i no time.

  • $700 gift card bonus +$600 trade in bonus + $130 for Galaxy Note 9=$1069 for Galaxy fold 4 =4 x $267.25 Afterpay payments.

    • That be one heck of an upgrade. Need to add an sp-en case and seperate s-pen.

  • Someone from this thread mentioned that they couldn’t get JB to add the trade in coupon for the Telstra plan either

Could be wrong but that deal jbhifi are giving you the discount on the phone when signing up to the plan.
As these are 2 different deals i cant see why you cant sign up to the telstra plan, get the $700 bonus gift card. Then go through the trade in process to get the $600 bonus gift card which must be used towards the phone.
When checking out add gift cards as form of payment.

      • Yeah sounds about right to me, it's effectively two seperate transactions.
        1) Sign up the phone plan and get the $700 gift card
        2) Get the Fold/Flip 4 then apply trade-in coupon and $700 GC to get to the balance owing

  • So does the callback allow me to get this deal and pickup a card/sign papers at a later date? I'm on holidays and the nearest JB is about an hour away.

  • Anyone know if you can add the data sharing sim to these JB plans?

    • No, cannot

  • +3

I wonder if the days or 12 month plans with bonus GC are over…

Definitely not interested in 24 months..

  • if you are out of contract on telsra but have a telstra sim can you still get the giftcard?

    • +1

      Nope. Need to Port in.

      • +1

Yep have to port out first. Doesn't have to be a month. A few weeks should be okay as long as your next billing cycle date has passed

Eg, port out 10th and you should have been billed on the 28th, you can use this deal on the 29th

        • thanks guys

        • Any recommendations on who to port out to?

    • You can apply for a new contract and then contact Telstra support to merge the numbers (keeping your old number with the new plan) to avoid having to wait to port out and back in
I’ve done this a couple of times before and relatively painless with no downtime

      • Porting numbers only has like 5 minutes of downtime nowadays in an optimal situation. Merging numbers can be difficult with Telstra support so easier to just port out and in.

        • Careful with this one, i thought this too but i ported in about 5 months ago and it took over a week, no damn clue and i contacted support every 2 days but they had no assistance in the matter except to say be patient. Was a bit of a nightmare.

        • ..but you have to stay with optus or similar for a month which is the painful part.

  • Which $600/$400 bonus tradein credit?

  • Any idea how to get bonus trade in from jbhifi $600 without a phone. I have note 9 which i don't want to trade. Can I do the deal and then later don't send them a phone and pay extra what ever phone trade in price is?
    Has anyone done it?

    • previous comments suggest you don’t have to send the phone in. Select your device from squaretrade (min $10 trade in value needed), get the bonus voucher and your device credit. If they don’t get your phone they’ll only deduct the device credit but you keep the bonus voucher

      • And they will put "Riskified" in your trade-in profile if the device does not return. The only drawback of Riskified is that in future, they will ask you first to send the device before you can get any voucher or GC.

  • 41 dollars a month for 100gb and forced to buy 700 worth at JB

Not bad, not bad, seen better though. Getting close to my target jb.

    • -1

41 dollars a month for 100gb and forced to buy 700 worth at JB

Yeah. For $45 / month with Woolworths Mobile, only has 90GB but:
+ Still uses the Telstra network
+ 10% off a shopping cart per month
      + No lock-in contract
+ Don't have to buy overpriced shit from JB Hifi

If you don't need 100GB, the $35 and $25 plans are cheaper but still have the 10% off shopping.

      • Not the whole network though I'm pretty sure

      • +1

I used to be on Woolworths "telstra network". I'm now on actual telstra and it's a world of difference for me. But I travel to the countryside often. If I stayed in the metro area then I don't think it'd matter too much

      • Exactly. I did snap up one of these deals a while ago. However I need it to be quite competitive.

I've actually forgotten what I got with the voucher!

    • How is the $41 calculated?

      • Total contract price, minus 700 divided by 24 months

        • Interesting way to look at it when you can put the money toward the Telstra bill.

  • Can I get this with a new sim/number and port my number from optus in a few months? Waiting out an optus QFF promo for 3 months

  • +2

I am hooked up with ALDI with $25 with 20GB for 30 days and have more than 240GB of rollover data.Help me to get out of this plan….

    • That would be hard to give up. Could be really useful one day if you have a huge internet outage for a week or two. Or move house and need to wait a month even

  • +3

Telstra's service isn't as good as it used to be I feel. Alot of black spots on my morning commute on train lines, and even where I live it isn't as peace of mind was it was. Also I feel my speed is being capped. And I'm on the $99pm 300gb

  • +4

The $59/mo $500 GC deal is never coming back I guess.

Thanks a lot for posting this OP

Just traded in an old Samsung Tab A7 for $60+600. Went in store and was told the $700 port in deal had been bumped up to $1000 for today only. Manager said processing the two discounts together is fine and was happy to do it.

Final price $840 for a 512GB Fold 4… Absolute madness!

    • Absolute madness!

Nah, the only real madness is the RRP margins if they can take that much off and still make a profit in the end (which they will be).

    • Thx for confirming. I swear I walked past JB today and saw this for $1000. Though my eyes was playing tricks.

    • Should have checked this thread earlier, that is a good price and I have some JB gift cards lying around that would have made this even better. Will try Sunday morning, if they still have the offer.

    • Hi WowBargain, any chance you can send me a screenshot or something of how you got a $1000 gift card? I just want some kind of information about it. I am really confused because I went yesterday while the deal was active and I was told the offer is for a $700 gift card, today only.
They froze the transaction due to some kind of technical issue, and I am going back tomorrow morning to finalise it. I was hoping to bring up the issue and see if I can get the extra $300. I am also hoping to trade in a phone and get the Fold 4.

      Thanks in advance

Good guys doing the same deal, if people prefer that gift card instead

  • How long are these GCs usually valid? I am holding out for the Pixel 7s to launch.

    • +1

      No expiry

  • I honestly could not think of anything worse than been locked into Telstra for 24 months.

    • +6

      Try Vodafone for 24 months

      • +3

        And/or Optus

        • I ported to Optus to obtain this deal, I'm constantly checking on these deals to get back onto Telstra. I feel like Eric Andre at the fence yelling to let me in

  • New promo till 24th is 1499 for fold
