Very tempting but I am one of those Xtreme gamers that want HDMI 2.1.

  • +1

so how does VRR is supported? it doesn't support 120HZ.

    • Good question

    • +6

You don't need 120hz to have VRR. It can still be variable, just at 60hz and below.

      • I can confirm this

      • +1

        Correct.
Like how people think HDR is only in 4k.

I watched that YouTube. Then I went to jbhifi. I asked the staff to fast forward the demo movie to the credit screen. Guess what, EVERY SINGLE mini-led TV has blooming effect. LG, Samsung they all have it. I believe it’s just the nature of the technology rather than a product flaw.

And by the way, It’s rumoured that hisense US U9G uses VA panels whereas aus model is IPS, which people believe it is the reason why US u9g has a high score across multiple product reviews. I checked rtings website. Hisense US model U9G does use IPS panels! It’s a false statement.

Anyway, I have a U9G 75 sitting in my living room right now and it’s the best choice I have made on buying home appliances apart form my Tesla.

If a single review u-turned your thoughts, do a simple fact check and think twice.

      • +6

Went all out on a car but el cheapo tv?

      • +9

        weird flex but ok

        • +1

buying home appliances apart form my Tesla

So he bought a Tesla home appliance - Must be from here…Still weird though..If it was G63 AMG maybe you get some bragging rights for sure.. Tesla Model 3 is like the Corolla 10 years ago, at least here in Melbourne. They are everywhere!

    • +2

holy, that hisense in the review was complete garbage!

to the guys saying the review is not accurate

load the same dune scene on your tv and post a picture of it lol!

      • +1

        Blooming effect does exist!

There is very little blooming effect when you watch the screen right it in the front.

Blooming effect is very obvious when there is white prints on a pure black background and is viewed from an angle 20-30 degrees.

Every other brand mini-led TV I watched in person on JBHIFI’s display wall HAS this blooming effect.

It’s a great tv in terms of picture quality especially dark HDR movies. It not the best option to play games on as it has no HDMI2.1. If you are enjoying watch post movie credits where there’s a lot of blacks and whites, and you are really sensitive to blooming effect, then you should not buy any mini-led tvs.

        • +3

Or if you watch anything with black bars, or anything with captions, or any movie or TV show with a dark scene, or watch anything in a dark room. You wouldn't be able to compare at a JBHIFI unless they turned off all the lights and connected tv direct to source.

          • @onlinepred: I am not telling everyone that there is not blooming. I said I CAN see those blooming effects even when the light was on in the store. But its not just on Hisense, it’s also on LG’s and Samsung’s. The light doesn’t need to be turned off to see it. It was there and it was very obvious across all miniled units across all brand with the same picture on the screens.

It’s just simple physics, the super bright mini-leds behind the panel scattering bright lights around bright objects on the screen. It’s never been seen before on conventional led tvs because basically the whole panel was blooming. It’s now being noticed around bright prints in mini-led tvs because elsewhere in the background is pure black/dark.

            • @catbin: Blooming has been around for a while in lcds. Full array backlight has significantly reduced it though. And it gets noticed of the surrounding colours are not as bright, so any colours, dark ones will be the worst for it. It should only be noticeable during the day if it’s a bad TV. Sony and Samsung have software that reduces the brightness around potential areas of blooming, and it works quite well. So for you to see that during the day most mean you are either regurgitating what some salesperson told you, or you didn’t configure each tv to its optimal Settings.

        • +3

I'm not talking about blooming, did you even watch the youtube video from above?

I'm talking about the complete utter black crush scenes

          • @neosin: Honestly, I have no idea why it’s like that on his camera. Maybe the settings? Or maybe the video source. Or…. I don’t know. At least mine wasn’t like that. I have no issue watching may dark HDR movies on U9G that I cannot watch on my old TCL like Avengers Endgame.

    • +5

Holy shit that footage of Dune is shocking. Borderline unwatchable. Even if that's fixable with settings and calibration (unlikely). No TV at stock should look like that.

Great side by side comparisons as well.

Finally hisense's garbage gets exposed by a non paid-off source.

      • Honestly I have the u8g and HDR is amazing. I'm suss on this review and the HDR content he was showing on the u9g…

    • In Layman's Terms, how to get High AF and make YouTube videos.

  • +1

    Yeah unlucky it's not android

  • +1
  • good

  • Does U9G have the same issues with U8G - the Australian version being inferior to the US version?

Check rtings, the US TV spec website. https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/hisense/u9dg It clearly states that the panel type on U9DG, the us model, is “IPS”. This doesn’t prevent it from getting multiple awards in the US.

I believe that reddit OP was a Samsung associate. 😆

See it in store. Don’t believe anonymous posts that tells you “US model uses VA panel and Aus got dumped IPS crap” on the internet.

      • HDR Peak Brightness is garbage.
        Better off lighting a candle.

    • +2

Yeah, it's a HiSense thing that they do - release in the US to great reviews, put lower-quality crap with the same model number in other markets.

  • +3

    It's cheap for a reason

    • -5

Yea, the reason is that some Samsung associates defamed it, people are scared of getting one.

      • +8

lol I get it, you're just trying to justify your purchase. But the TV is awful. That's the simple truth.

        • +1

I was just being humour. Honestly, I won’t get such a cheap deal if there wasn’t that much defamation.

          • +1

@catbin: What? You mean, you WOULD get such a cheap deal if there wasn't that much defamation or do you want MORE defamation? Also, isn't defamation against a person? I have no idea what you just said.

            • +1

@1r4n14n: They should just being English.

            • @1r4n14n: *I wouldn’t have** thanks for your correction. And “defamation of a business” is a genuine English expression.

      • -1

Trump-like, every accusation is a confession

  • +3

These are decent units especially at that money

  • So many tv deals.. 🤔 confused what to buy

    • +1

      Samsung, LG or Sony

    • +3

Skip this and get an oled TV. Your eyes will thank your wallet later.

      • I am waiting for the OLED deals.

      • What if I mainly watch TV in a brightly lid room?

      • Thanks.. will wait for OLED then

  • How about U9G compare with Q8?

  • -1

    "1,000+ local dimming zones".

LOL ok Hisense, so how do you explain all the blooming? Oh, you can't because you're full of shit.

  • Would get the u7g65, seems to have a decent panel for 100$ less,

Plus the lg uled's 65 inchs going for $1500, reduced from $2100.

But you can't beat the USA's version of the u8g hdmi 2.1, but compared to Aldi's trash the resell values still great on the u9g

  • Chews twice the power of a TCL 65. Might be the mini LEDs I guess

    • Is the TCL model 825 or 835, with mini LED panel too?

      • Yeah, my bad. Looks about the same as the TCL equivalent series. So all these mini LEDs chew up around double a standard 4K UHD/ QLED. You would think the local dimming would increase efficiency. Apparently not.

        https://www.energyrating.gov.au/calculator

  • wow tampted, but still waiting for u9hau/u8hau deals 🤔

    • 2023 August will see a $1200 decrease if your willing to wait that long, given the u9g would be identical just with no hdmi2.1 compared to the hau9

      • thanks mewmew, I'm mewx😂😂

        • 😤

Hau9 2500, the hau7 is 1500, both have hdmi 2.1, but I'd get the ug7 65 if lucky for 988, keep it as it has 3 years warranty, use it with a Chrome cast (as viddaa is apple os in lock down, unless you wish to install apps via the http://hisense/debug in the browser, and install via that.)

Either way all TV's have a resale value as medium range TV's above Aldi brands and below lg oled.

          • @LoserScott: Oh no… I hate any apple integration. 💩 however, there's not much Android TV options now. Google TV also locks down app installs. Thanks for those info! I'll need to think over again with 2k awkward budget 🤞

  • +2

I bought a Hisense 2 years ago, and it was my biggest purchase regret of anything I've ever bought. Constant sound issues, network problems, stability. Picture quality was average, and the local dimming feature was amateur at best. Google Assistant integration was almost a joke - and you couldn't turn it on via voice, which is probably the #1 use case! Support was bad, and they admitted the tv had a major fault while refusing to authorise refund to JB. Eventually JB did a refund and I bought a Sony, which has performed almost flawlessly. Don't be tempted by the cheap price.

  • If you're thinking about this TV, I'd really recommend going and seeing it in store. It has a really harsh backlight which just kills the blacks in the image for me. If you can pick up the U7G (and don't mind the lack of 200hz) I'd say that is a better deal.

  • Recently have a quick look on the U7/U8(?) model in jb, they look pretty okto me (on the demo clip)! The tiny shiny color powders on black background look pretty! At least didn't see the bloom problem as on the youtube clip, but well I'm still on a 50" panasonic plasma so no expert on any new tv :D

Looking for an upgrade… if this is an upgrade!
