Im staying away from amysim. Bad experience.

    • Could you elaborate on that? Genuinely interested

      • Bad reception keep calling them and they try different methods but it dont work.

About 4 months ago I raised an issue when trying to activate my $2 sim because I didnt want to add credit or my creditcard. They were very unprofessional and rude (putting me on hold until i got fed up and hung up). It happened x2 via 2 diferent women.

I usually just do live chat. Never had a problem with live chat.

@MINKx: agree live chat are very helpful and never had issues with their customer service. Their total service is average, Drops out/ black spots are common with Belong, amaysim, catch, kogan and all. Have not tried optus since 2010 so don't know about them though. Never used Aldi etc..

  • Any news on esim ?

Since when is 28 days the standard month. By skimming off a few days every month they you are actually paying 13 months a year (13x28=364).

Always been the case for prepaid

Not all prepaid though. Kogan (Optus) and Woolworths (Telstra) still do 30 day, but I understand they the minority. People should just keep this in mind when comparing prices.

        • I guess most ppl are just bad at math or don't bother these minor differences (guess what telco's been trying is exactly to let us ignore these minor things, maybe same as card surcharge at ALDI but they still manage to make noticeable profit from it :)

        • Kogan is Vodafone.

          • @TomGum: Sorry, yes thanks for the correction. It is Vodafone network.

  • Bookmarked,.. $12 for 80gb not to shabby if ones desperate for large amount of data at a cheapo price 👍😁

Should be $8.40 cashback with SB or CR.

  • If you pick a new number, does it come pre-activated, and you lose the time from when it was sent in the mail?

It says only 50GB. The bonus 30GB is on the first "renewal", which you're probably not going to do at $40. But they advertise it as 80GB in large print which is misleading.

  • I think new number is always activated on the same day of the order. My experience is when I received the SIM card (usually took 2 weeks for them to arrive) and started using it I would receive an SMS saying "we notice you just start using our service so we restart the plan date from today". And the period resets from that time.

"First renewal" in amaysim's term is the first time you start using the number so 80GB is available for first 28 days.

Say you place order online on 1 Sep and received the SIM on 15 Sep and start to use the number straight away. First renewal covers from 15 Sep to 13 Oct and there is 80GB data available. Or you could choose to start using it on a later day say 20 Sep. The plan's 80GB then starts from 20 Sep to 18 Oct.
