So many things to learn but so little time.

    • +13

Expect an extra post from me with Azure stuff, coming in the next 5 minutes.

I'm on the same boat, so much to learn, not enough time available.

      • I'm on the same boat, so much to learn, not enough time available.

Also, I will post another deal soon for all aws exams as well.

      • I believe attending these training will provide certification voucher for AZ-900. Do you know if there are Azure certification (AZ-204 or AZ-305) vouchers provided for attending any such trainings?

  • +1

    Thanks OP

Are you allowed to google the answers in the exam?

    • -1

      No, its a proctored exam.

      • whoosh

  • +2

    Requires business name and website!

    • +3

Nahhh I just enrolled with my @gmail.com and a Dan company name, and got the confirmation email.

  • thanks. done

  • Is this the legit google website?

If I'm looking to beef up my data resume, would this be good?

    • Yes It is legit.
And yes it would be great if you are working in ICT.

But you will need to build up more in your specialisation in the cloud.

  • +2

    Why the domain name withgoogle.com?

I'd assume if it is a google site it will be something like abc.xyz.google.com

  • +1

    Thanks OP!

  • Does it worth it guys? I have AZ900, AI900, DA100, DP900 and few others certificates, but none helped me getting a job. The interviewers either don't care or aren't aware what those certs are. I live in Europe by the way.
Those Google clouds certs have 2 years validity and 50% discount to recertify. Would I have better chance with no experience and Google certificate? At least for Azure I can confirm, it didn't open doors for me.

    • Get the az500 and do some home lab projects

      • +1

I can't afford it and I think I will be out of free credit for the labs. All cerfs I even took were bargains I found here. Thanks by the way to the people who keep sharing them.

    • did the interviewers say what they are looking for? instead of/alongside your certs.

      • HR people, they can't even tell me what the job tasks are when I ask them. I applied at bare minimum in terms of skills req. Mostly Data base skills, Data Analysis and anything related. The HR mostly repeat what it said in the job listing.

        • +2

I see, gonna look for an entry level ICT/tech job soon to compliment my CS study (half-way done), gonna try do a few certs too as it might help.. : D

    • +2

I believe, since you didn't get your first job, all certificates will be a plus but will never secure you a job.

As people suggested, try an entry level job, or even look for being an intern even for free.

Another option is self study and free-lancing on upwork or fiverr.

You can go for self study in the OP post as it offers you free exam even for the Professional ones.

I don't know which cloud provider is dominating in your country.
Look for the best cloud provider and study hard.

      Good luck!

      • Thanks. This my goal too, aiming low trying the internships listings.

    • +5

All employers care about is experience not certifications unless it is a cyber security certification. So would recommend getting into an entry level job(i know it is hard but keep trying) rather than going behind certifications

    • +2

Experience trumps certs .. try to get the experience first, even if it's just service desk type work

      • +1

Experience is everything. Employers will take 20 years of experience candidates with 0 certs, over someone with 20 certs and 0 experience. Thats the way of it.

One approach is gain said experience through one of the consultancy ITO firms. It won't be easy, depending on your placement. Be prepared to move on if its presenting any opportunities to get a foot hold in the area your interested in.

    • +1

why are you trying to jump headfirst into cloud roles? you have to work your way up from Service Desk

      • Who said I did? Tried flexing on roles that require relevant skills. All cloud roles demand previous professional experience, so I avoid them.
For example 2 years ago I applied for internship in company that does AI stuff with AWS. Programming in Java and learning the cloud. It was relevant in some ways, so I applied. They didn't call me back, but they lose (at least I keep saying that to myself).

    • +10

So, I interview for Cloud / Devops roles about once or twice a year.

      We care about Certs.

But are far more interested in whether someone can demonstrate their knowledge. We have people who have active AWS Associate Level Certs who cannot answer very well what S3 is. I'm impressed by people who get the AWS Pro level certs, but we don't really care either. You need to know the landscape, but if you're going to do anything you're going to be reading the documentations extensively anyway. The basic ones are the most valuable really.

I really have qualms about CGP though. In Canberra where I am barely anyone seems to use it. There are real doubt that Google may drop the project. Oracle Cloud is more interesting really.

What we ideally look for is actual projects on Github that demonstrate an ability to do Infracode, understand and user Containers and are able to write Python or Javascript.

The best DevOps engineer I've seen had no certs whatsoever. He now works for Canva.

If you have reasonable skills in these areas you should be able to walk into a job in Australia.

  • I don’t have a company name what do I do?

    • +1

      No need.
      Your Gmail is okay

    • +2

      Name your company.

  • Program starts in September. Hope they don't filter out people who registered with a gmail address rather than company email.

  • Any good for non-IT background people wanting to enter an IT job or is it only for someone who understands IT already?

    • Would be better to have some knowledge before hand. Mostly how computers work, Networking and script/Terminal/CMD/PowerShell understanding. From my experience it's possible, it just takes longer.

  • -7

    requires a your own website

    • 1, i don't believe so.
2, then just set 1 up, it's a GCP exam, u should be able to do that as a prerequisite.

  • Want to start the cloud journey any suggestio which one to select azure, aws, gcp? Have 10+ yrs of integration exp

  • Noob question. I am electrical design engineer. Never ever had any exposure to Java or HTML. What is requirement for this or AWS courses? Are there any pre-requisites?

    • I think you can try for the azure free fundamental certificate first.

  • +1

Got the AWS CCP discount voucher earlier, doing the Azure AZ-900 now. Google should round out my high level cloud knowledge. Thanks OP

    • Could you share how to get the AWS CCP discounted voucher?

  • +3

Just an FYI for anyone looking to Register, looks to be filled up and put onto a waiting list.

"Thanks for your interest in the Getting GCP certified program! There has been very high demand and due to that you’ve been put on a waitlist. We will be in touch in due course."

  • +1

We are working on the program details and scheduling. We will touch base with more details in August. Until then, enjoy the summer and see you soon. - it is the end of August and nobody contacted me…
