This is a long running deal.
Thanks for the reminder for the community.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/687806 This is still running

    • +1

yeah, looks like a rolling deal. the one u linked says Microsoft Ireland? didn't know they separated it by country. Also deal says expired so thought i might as well post a fresh one to hopefully remind people

    • Thanks fam, I'm looking for work right now after moving to Sydney, good to get some new certifications.

  • Is still good for a machine learning person?

    • +2

It's a beginners course for someone who want to start their cloud journey in Azure.
If you have no clue about Azure, then this is where you start and then later choose your path as ML person on cloud

    • If you have the time, I would do this training day as a familiarisation exercise, and sit the exam to get the free basic cert and the experience.

Then keep your eyes out for future virtual training days/Build conference/Ignite conference and pick up some more exam vouchers, such as AI-900 and maybe even AI-102.

  • Would AWS be a better path?

    • +2

Depends if you want to work for a company using AWS or a company using Azure

    • +4

learn all three of the big hyperscaler platforms. most organisations are doing a bit of each.if u skip one, skip GCP, but definitely learn Azure and AWS

    • It depends on what is used at your work. But I would say at this cert level if you are not sure, go for both. Azure and AWS are very similar in terms of their business models and product offerings. Play with their free tiers a little, and learn about their further cert pathways. You will then have a better idea on what is a better path for you.

      • +1

If you know one, then you can work on both.. Don't learn all at once because you'll get super confused as the services have almost similar names.

Ideally gain experience on one of the platform, and have knowledge about equivalent services on other platforms including pros, cons and limitations of each of them.

  • Would it put you on the path to becoming a Microsoft Partner?

  • -3

Should be always free the Cert is a Scam

    • -2

Why does this get down votes?

Look up what this is: a "cert" after doing an intro course… No one's going to hire you for having this unless they don't know what they're doing.

Do it if you're interested and have no cloud experience but don't expect it to land you any jobs

      • +1

As someone who hires technical people, I can tell you that you're dead wrong with this statement "No one's going to hire you for having this unless they don't know what they're doing."

They won't hire you JUST for having this, but having this or any other baseline cert is certainly a positive, and it's a necessary start on the certification path to the role based certs that are a much better demonstration of deep technical knowledge.

Done this training last time. The quality is very poor, you can learn more from YouTube. But you can also join and leave it running on another computer or screen and get the free exam thing. You don't get a voucher, it's just automatically applied when you book the exam using the same account.
It's free so just take it and don't whine too much

    • +2

Thank you for making this comment. I thought I never received a voucher. Turns out, if I use the same email, I get to register for the exam for free.

  • +5

It's in CEST, so 8 hours behind AEST, so:

    • 1:00pm - 3:30pm CEST -> 9:00pm - 11:30pm AEST
    • 9:30am - 12:00pm CEST -> 5:30pm - 8:00pm AEST

Just a rough guide, for someone new to Azure but have some general idea in cloud, how much extra time is require to prepare for AZ-900?

    • +1

I sat this exam last week. I over-prepared, did a few hours of Pluralsight videos, and two test exams.

The actual exam was easier than any of the tests by a huge margin.

  • Do these vouchers have an expiration date?

    • I think it’ll be one year

    • +1

90 days from the event attendance date

  • +2

It is one of the easiest and yes it is a good starter exam, when something is free then take it if it suits your needs. The negative comments are irrelevant here, if you don’t want to do it then don’t, move on as for some it will be valuable experience.

For me it is one of many that I have to do as a part of my role, I sat it after having done a few other 500 and 900 MS exams and having done that does make this one fairly easy to pass, as there are not many scenario questions AZ900 is mostly multi choice and straightforward.

    • +1

Yes, it's free, but, this isn't "training" as per namesake… It's a promotional video, with Q&A fielded by a bot. It'd be far more useful as a VoD.

  • Can I be AFK?

    • +1

      Yes

  • thanks for sharing

  • We had to do this course for work and I passed with flying colours. I wouldn't say it's a complete waste of time, but it's so basic it felt like a very long marketing campaign for MS.

  • I passed fundamental exam last month. Training won't be enough, you will have to go through other courses on Microsoft Learn or YouTube. There were quite few questions on VNet and active directory. Exam was comparatively easy than some of the mock questions I came across. It is good way to get familiar with basic of Azure for starters.

  • Part 1 concluded in 100 minutes, including 10 minutes break, provided a good overview.

    • Do i need to switch on Camera?

      • +1

No, it's live but not interactive.

The presentation is probably pre-recorded, but "live" in the sense that you can ask questions (by typing) and get 1:1 responses.

  • Part 2 took 2 hours, including 10 minutes break. A more lively presentation.

Would recommend, new dates in September, check it out.
