I'll add this to the list of free udemy courses I've got sitting around untouched 😀

    • Yeah, Id put it at the bottom
I did quantitative statistics at uni as part of my degree.
Did very well but never had a use for anything I learnt there
      It was very much….zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • -3

I'm assuming this means your provided with an edu email address?

    • +6

no. You never do with these kinds of courses.

    • +7

Luckily there's other resources to learn quantitative techniques if you don't wish to associate with Columbia

    • +2

I, too, have had a challenging time with all the maths I was asked to do at uni. Though, I would like to know, what about the particular way Columbia teaches it that makes it that far down the spectrum? Or is it more that any amount of maths at any university merits that statement?

      • +3

I suspect some representatives there have had choice words about the current American government. Hence ✝️e®️®️💣®️i⚡✝️⚡.

      • +5

Lookup what's happening with Mahmoud Khalil, OP is an obvious troll with that username

        • +14

Nah, there’s an infestation of unironic MAGA obsessed people on ozb. They're not trolls.

        • +6

Interesting read. Poor guy/fam. When to protect or stifle free speech :/

            • +12

@Hamsahamsahamsa: You sound delusional and completely brainwashed.

It's freaking hilarious reading MAGA snowflakes losing their shit! 🤣

                • +8

@Lets Go Brandon: Move to America since you love Australia having tariffs as well.

                    • +1

@Lets Go Brandon: Haven't we learnt to diversify from dirt by making and selling the very aluminium and steel that Trump has imposed tariffs on?

                      • +2

@Ponsonby: Not particularly well if aluminium accounts for $4B of export value versus coal's $100B. USA only accounting for $600M.

Time for Australia to put on it's big boy pants and return to manufacturing - we just need a government that doesn't make it prohibitive.

Trump's initiative will have a positive impact.

                    • @Lets Go Brandon: Looking forward to seeing the positive results in 6 to 12 months!!

                  • -8

@cephh: Who cares, this too shall pass as soon as LNP win the election

                    • +4

@Hamsahamsahamsa: so you desire to lose medicare? lol jesus you must be the dumbest bloke i've met on here defending tariffs against us is genuinely a first!

                        • +7

@Hamsahamsahamsa: Labor and Liberal are both wanks, get a grip lmao

                        • +4

@Hamsahamsahamsa: Do you believe your potato head hero could be the only political leader in the world to have trumpv2 tariffs revoked?

Do you know something that nobody else does about dutton's skills when on his knees?

Or do you have something else in your head that makes you believe dutton would persuade trump to make a unique case? Something that your thought controllers at sky news implanted perhaps?

                          Do try and share.

                      • +1

@cephh: Lose medicare? Where has that been reported in mainstream media so i can check it out.

                        • +1

@2esc: Sorry for the late reply. The liberal part always tries make cuts within bulk billing, which inevitably leads to higher prices for bulk-billed GP visits. Personally, I currently pay around $28 per doctor visit, but with cuts to bulk billing, I’d likely be paying around $70. I may be exaggerating about them completely cutting Medicare, but bulk billing is a major reason we appreciate our healthcare system. I definitely worry about the potential reduction in Medicare funding.

                          • -4

@cephh: You're exactly the gullible type the ALP depends on each election with their Mediscare Campaign lol

                            • -1

@Lets Go Brandon: Do you think I voted for the ALP? What's to say i didn't vote for shrek?

                              • -1

@cephh: I don't know - you seem to be fearful (& gullible) so probably Greens.

                                • @Lets Go Brandon: It's maybe like i didn't vote for any! But hey you believe tariffs are good for us, why don't you revoke your citizenship and move to America!

                                  • -1

@cephh: If you didn't vote at all then you're a fairly ordinary citizen. Although it is best not to vote if ill-informed.

                            • @Lets Go Brandon: Good rage bait account though keep trying, maybe another post of kamala's book from amazon will do the trick! go to sleep buddy

            • +5

@Hamsahamsahamsa: Is he (Mahmoud Khalil) a bad guy? I couldn't find anything concrete that shows he was guilty/did something criminal

              • +10

@inamberclad: He was only arrested for being an international student that participated in"pro-Palestine" protests.
He isn't even charged with a crime in any capacity. He just participated in a protest.

The free speech crowd is not very free speech.

                • +3

@Originality: the free speech crowd is only pro free speech when it defends their causes not anyone else's unfortunate biases come into play.

            • +5

@Hamsahamsahamsa: Found Clive Palmer's OB account.

Peak MAGA intelligence, ladies and gentlemen!

  • Is this one of those deals that gets so popular so everybody signs up for it and then a day later a cancellation emails start coming through ??

    • Not really much of a reason for them to cancel it.
It's a self paced short(ish) course. So it's not like its resource intensive for them.

Plus you don't get an edu email, so that'll hopefully deter people from signing up and not actually utilising it.

    • Like all the Perplexity AI cancellations en masse :-(

    • Variable cost for the uni ~$0. So no cancellation.

3.14 is only approximately Pi day.

In Australia Pi day is 22/7. Exactly.

    • Exactly what?

    • +2

Not quite exactly. There's a difference of 0.00126448926735 (approximately).

      • Username doesn't check out. You need to change it to one-thousandth percent. ;)

  • -1

How about other courses ? They are free also?

  • -2

do we get a free edu account?

Trump is our 2025 Nobel Prize winner.

      • -1

Both Ukraine and Gaza started under Biden. All Biden did in both as the months and years passed was throw more kerosene on the fires. Send more American-made armaments, but not enough to result in the war finishing quickly, and ending the human misery they were causing. Complain all you like about lots of things about Trump, there's plenty of them, but he is trying to end both wars. So why shouldn't he be at least considered for the Nobel Peace Prize. He's certainly not going to get any prizes for anything else.

        • Trump doesn't do anything unless it benefits him directly. He couldn't care less about someone else's peace.

    • -1

You don't need to say anymore emil… anyone lauding trump is so far off being awake, that you may be rip van winkle.
Or maybe you are actually dead, and your skull is just communicating from a cryogenic tank?

    • So Pi is woke now? OK…

      • Always had been. I adore pi. One of the best numbers, ever, IMO.

    • What did he do? I don't read the tabloids these days.

    • +2

Free speech for me not for thee aye? A MAGA life is truly a sad life

      • -4

Say it without crying now you delusional leftist muppet

        • -1

Now go get your warpspeed pokes you delusional orange man sycophant.

    • -2

Not to mention terrorist supporting scum disrupting university studies for other students and destroying property. Arrest and deport.

    • +2

Have you ever wondered why most academics a.k.a. people on the forefronts of human progress and invention hate your guts so much? We all know the answer.

      • The same academics who cannot define what a woman is?

  • Do I get to join a frat house?

    • -1

Columbia only allows non-alcoholic kombucha and plant based meat products in their dorms.

  • +13

Sadly none of the comments relate to the actual product lol.
Pretty good course if you have not formally learned statistics.

  • +2

It's funny how both sides of politics and the Israel Palestine conflict hate Columbia university now. Shows how selling out on principles gets you no where

  • No drug smuggling free course as well? Good for my retirement plan….

  • Unfortunately not working for me. Will try a bit later.

  • I am unfortunately receiving "The discount code you entered is not valid for this transaction."

  • I dont have strong feelings one way or the other regarding America. I just amazes me how for or against Trump people are here in Australia. Both sides need to grow up.

  • +1

Anyone else's says "pending enrollment" after registering

    • Check your email mailbox for an email from Columbia Uni to complete registration of your "canvas" account.

  • Can I include all the free courses I’ve taken on my LinkedIn? I must be a double phd by now.

  • I enrolled in this course, but in my courses tab it is showing " Become a peer sponsor: intro to Military transition support ". Even when search and click on quantitative tech course it lands back to peer sponsor one. Anyone else having same problem?

  • Nice from columbia univerisity. Would be good to have some value investing ones from them!
