1920 x 1080 = 2k?! So whats actually different on the new model?
Oh, right. 2560x1440 (= 3.7.. Not what i expected)
@justtoreply: You dont multiply them together, thats for megapixels.
Its the (approximate) horizontal resolution. 2k being in the 2000 range.
4k can be 3840x2160 or 4096x2160. (Horizontal resolution being around 4000.) Around 8MP.
Would probably be easier if they just stuck to using total pixel count or were more accurate with their 'k' rating. The eufy above being 2.5k.
Eh?
They had the 2k one for 180 iirc recently?
Local storage only? Dosent go to hub? So they just have to pull the camera off the wall to have the only copy?
If they want to risk electrocution, then yes
All powerboxes are accessible out the house, hit the circuit breaker
So you need a sparky to install this?
JB doco says: Installation requires a licensed Electrican
YesIf you're replacing an existing light fitting, then, it's up to you…it's just a matter of connecting three wires (turn the power off first, obviously). YMMV, but it's not super hard, and beats paying $200 odd for some dude to show up 2hr late for a job that takes 10 minutes.
What's an "existing round weatherproof box and outdoor wiring"?
Requires wires, if it's replacing an existing light it's easy, just use the same wires otherwise a sparky will need to run new wires. The two I've had installed included a weatherproof box for mounting.
How much you were charged for installation??
Nothing, have two electrician's in the family
@evocable: Hahaha - you’re lucky!!
@Sid04: Ohm not really, sparkies are revolting amp shocking people…
Ill show myself out.
Someone told me $200-250 each previously so I am still debating
These are a nice bit of kit
how are these, on afternoon direct sunlight hit
- thinking for side of the housePretty good, video has a bit of purple hue in it.
I have this at the front of the garage.
thanks man, and storage, is it only internal via wifi access?
or u have to take it out from sd card?It only records to an SD card, you can playback and stuff via the app.
@omguleh: can u download straight via wifi??
And do u know the max stoarge, sorry so many mix opinion online!
Recommend getting the 2k version as you can enable a setting to only send notifications if it is a human size/shaped figure.
I get way too many videos of feral catsA bit off topic, but can anyone recommend the cheapest way to get a floodlight to turn on as I approach and leave my house?
I haven't looked at too many options, but I looked at a Phillips hue kit with hub, but the light wouldn't be bright enough and I'm unsure how suitable they are for outdoor uses. They're also white expensive!
The one in this post.
Sorry, wasn't half asleep when I wrote that! I meant more like something that uses geolocation/some kind of remote signal so that it lights up my driveway when I'm about to turn into my street. Something that only turns on when I approach, no one else.
There used to be a street light right outside my house but for whatever reason, council removed it two months ago. Now, it's basically pitch black at night outside my house and I kinda struggle to spot where to turn into my house on approach!
It'll be too late for a sensor floodlight like this deal. Plus it'll be constantly turning on if I have it sensing the street.
Cheap and cheerful;

This Phillips Hue option below is perfect. It has geolocation plus I can add a sensor as well on top of geolocation. Was just hoping there'd be a cheaper alternative from AliExpress!! :
"Experience the comfort of your lights turning on automatically when you arrive and turning off when you leave. Unload your car, enter your house, all with the comfort of the right light. Either use the Philips Hue outdoor sensor, or set the Hue app to Home or Away mode to switch on all your lights, or let geolocation do it for you, all without touching a button. It's as easy as that."

Has anyone installed these under eaves? I've searched online to see if possible and it's not clear if it can be done
It's meant to be installed onto a vertical surface.
Gutter mounts ? HOLACA Gutter Mount for Arlo Pro 3, Arlo Pro 4, Arlo Pro 2, Arlo Ultra/Ultra 2, Arlo Essential, EufyCam 2C Camera Weatherproof-Arlo Accessories Outdoor Mount White https://amzn.asia/d/hkT7UPb
It’s not that good once you mount it horizontally. The angle for the camera/sensor is limited and the light would be in weird angles. For best results it’s best to mount it vertically.
Anyone mounted these higher up than ideal (~5m)? Existing light mounted that needs replacing.
Would hope I could tilt camera down enough not to be useless, and still get good motion capture to trigger lights.
can this be connected to Surveillance Station in Synology Nas?
Installed Eufy Cam 2 Pro 2K cameras the other week, they're brilliant.
How much for the 2k version?
Pretty good price but bear in mind older 1080p version
