Maybe you can return it ?

Honestly best camera I've owned. Already over 10k shots.

I am looking into a tt350f godox whenever there's next a decent deal.

Check stock before you order, guys. The X100V has to be one of the hardest cameras to obtain for retailers all around the world atm.

Email most stores and you'll find out they have a waiting list as most orders are currently on backorder with Fujifilm AU only receiving stock in relatively small batches each month.

  • I've been wanting to pick one up for a while now but no one seems to have any stock! Like Bangers said, most stores have a waiting list I don't think anyone has any actual stock. I would definitely check and confirm stock before putting your money down and then waiting for a refund.

New reality we have to live with I guess with all the shortages.

    • Have you got a pre-order in? I put in an order and waited 2 months but eventually got one last month.

Pretty uncertain times and Fujifilm aren't exactly clear on when they get stock and how many come in. I heard they only had 5 units for the whole of Australia during June, but July seemed to be a larger batch.

  • Awesome camera. Got lucky and snatched one that popped up on amazon, then cancelled my pre-order.

Camera pro says "Check Stock" though, so I doubt they have any. Good luck.

    • Wow how did you manage to find one on Amazon! Pretty lucky I guess.

      • Just checked randomly. 1 in stock. Snatched it.

          Awesome, enjoy your camera :)

…imagine being 20222 and fuji still dont add IBIS to this smh.

Dont get me wrong I am a massive fuji fan (had og x100, then x100s but sold them both years ago because anything slower than 1/50-ish was just real hit and miss sharpness wise)

    • IBIS in the x100v is tricky its a very compact body (part of the reason is most of the lens body is actually inside the camera body) IBIS in it would mean a bigger body (see what happened with the XT3 vs XT4)

I would prefer a smaller body anyday, this is marketed as a travel / street camera. I had the x100t for many years loved it!

      • As far as travel cameras go I got a rx100m6 to replace my x100s, thinking I’d resell it if it was crap, but I did 2 weeks in Japan with it and a gorpo7 black and have zero regrets.

      • Given the lens is fixed, they don't even need to use sensor-shift IS though. From my understanding OIS would be simpler and smaller, given that you only need to adjust a single lens element as opposed to the entire sensor — it's commonly used in plenty of cameras smaller than the x100.

        • +1

You cannot add OIS to a lens without making the body of the lens bigger and you cannot add IBIS to a camera body without making the camera body bigger its just physics (you need room for moving elements). Also a lens is not a single glass element (its composed of a number of elements usually 7-9). You can't compare to smaller cameras that do manage to squeeze in OIS in their lenses, even your phone can have OIS! The reason OIS is possible on smaller cameras / phones is because their sensors are smaller in size compared to an APSC sensor. Physics at play again! Also the focal length and aperture have an effect on how large a lens is, so the only fair comparison would be a camera that has a 23mm (35mm FF equiv) lens at f/2 and with an APSC sensor.

          • @bindok:

You cannot add OIS to a lens without making the body of the lens bigger and you cannot add IBIS to a camera body without making the camera body bigger

I agree. If you read my comment again, I'm just suggesting that the penalty for adding OIS (both in size and complexity) may be smaller than that of adding IBIS in this case.

Also a lens is not a single glass element (its composed of a number of elements usually 7-9)

I'm aware, however you don't need to move all elements to implement OIS. To my knowledge most implementations only move a single element. See e.g. the 23 element Panasonic 70-200 f4 ("Underneath you see the electromagnets and the optical element of the OIS") or from Wikipedia: "In Nikon and Canon's implementation, it works by using a floating lens element…"

The reason OIS is possible on smaller cameras / phones is because their sensors are smaller in size

The size penalty for OIS is dependant on the size of the lens element to be moved, which (as you appear to be suggesting) is correlated with sensor size. Due to its design, the lens elements of the x100 are relatively small by APSC standards, hence why I was suggesting it probably results in a smaller penalty than IBIS.

The Ricoh GRIII has IBIS. Even smaller than the x100v.

    • Leica M11 says hi 😄

      • i have been totally out of the loop with leica developments, last i saw, they were up to m9 HAHA - totally still am not sold on it XD (not that i have a choice on my salary anyway)

    • +3

Exactly …. I had a X100V .. sold it, rather use my Sony A7iii with prime.

      • X100V and a A7III are very different cameras though, not much people are cross shopping between those.

        • +2

not much people are cross shopping between those.

          lmao i did! HAHA

          x100s -> a7iii with 55mm f1.8

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Well yeah if you were willing to do that though you are forgoing the portability of the X100 cameras which is the whole point of them. If you are willing to use a bigger camera body and a detachable lens then it basically opens up the conversation to any camera on the market and not the compact camera niche.

            • @eecan: i had my x100s on a rs7 rapidstrap, same with my a7iii. idk about you but x100s did not fit in any of my pockets (pants/jacket/etc)….which is why i also have an rx100m6 for when i do want a pocket rocket of a powerhouse camera HAHA

              • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: I'm thinking the X100V could probably fit in a jacket pocket for me but yeah certainly not the pants lol. I'm running a similar set up too! Sony full frame body and a RX100 when I want something properly compact. Been waiting for a RX100M8 which will probably never come at this point :(

              • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Yeah I ended up finding the X100V was not portable enough and even though not similar in size on paper to the A7iii…. where you can bring the X100V.. you'd be able to bring the prime a7iii. Might try the GRIII.

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Me too! I owned an X100t + A7iii and sold the X100t, but now I miss it when I look at the photos I took with it and want to buy an X100V. I don't want to sell my A7iii either. Street photography is what I love and the A7iii autofocus and eye detect was a huge improvement over others at the time. With the X100t I used zone focus.

            • @bindok: iirc between x100s to x100t the actual tech difference was minimal, but i vividly remember even at f4 i would have some issues with back/front focus - for a while i was even manual focusing. could have just been the copy i had too i guess, it was one of the first rounds to release in australia, and had a stuck viewfinder shutter in the first few months - while it was fixed by fuji under warranty (took 6 weeks), i did have to question the overall QC.

such a game changer with a7iii (and also the rx100m6) the af is blazingly fast and super accurate.

im almost sure i would be disappointed if i jumped back to x100v. maybe next iteration (please have I.S) lol

      • Wouldn't something like the A6400/6600 be a closer comparison?

    • Yep it's annoying, but with f/2 and high ISO capabilities, I rarely have any problems.

      • x100s even at 3200 iso was a bit soso.. good to see fuji addressed high iso (i guess they didnt have a choice though?_)

  • +2

Team ricoh GRiii. But i would not mind x100v either.

    • I still have the first Ricoh GR and the x100s
Still have trouble deciding which one I prefer!

Love the look of the film simulations from the Fuij but that Ricoh is so damn convenient! Fits in your pocket and looks like a dad holiday camera

      • Just hoping these cameras don’t get left behind considering the focus in smartphone photography.

        • +1

as much as I love the photos on my iPhone 13 Pro Max, it will never replace my x100s.
Smartphone photography is nice for every day memories but theres something about photos from a dedicated camera that phones can't replicate.

I use my x100s and GR for holidays and street photography

      • +1

i preferred the x100s compared to the first ricoh gr. but both were nice in their own ways.

        • +1

same here but i do like how compact the ricoh gr is if I need a pocketable camera. The high contrast b&w is my go-to on the GR

    • I have the ricoh GR1 and I loved the photos. But my only gripe is the dust issue.

Have you encountered any issues with dust on the sensor for iii?

      • +1

Only had gr iii for a couple of months. I always have a cap on the lens when not in use. So far so good.

    • I'm tempted to get a GRiii too but I wish it did better video (even decent 1080p would be good). Its what kept me away from it. Its perfect for street photography and as a photo only camera for travel. I love how tiny it is inspite of the APSC sensor in it.

      • i have both
        love both

Very tempting at this price. But not gonna happen before I ditch my XT-20 setup ;(
    Nice find OP!

Sorry, nice camera but has fixed lens! …… much prefer my 2 XE3's, great functional small cameras, and can use my wide range of lenses. If you want a "Street camera" just pop a 27mm on!. Now they have XE4's …not so keen on those, but they are compact.

  • +2

I just checked with James from CameraPro. They do not have stock, this is a pre-order.

    • I don't know why others downvote you. I think this expired link does indicate what is the normal SALE price for this camera. (Hopefully no Ozbargainers are willing to pay in-store RRP.)

      • That price was incredible. However if you can get one at the moment for <$1800, you are doing very well.

There is such a shortage of them, that people are paying $2k-$3k+ for them on ebay…

      • yes that's exaclty my point, that should be the target price to beat. and yes it was a cracker price.
i see you're with me on that one.
it's a 3 or 4 year old camera now and i'm waiting for the successor

  • Good ACTIVE deal only if you are keen to buy this…
Other similar options such as Nikon zfc with 28mm (interchangeable lens system), or Ricoh GRIII or even the new IIIx (best street photography camera) are cheaper when on sale.

    • please share your thoughts on the IIIX: (best street photography camera)

      • I had both Ricoh GRii and Fuji X100s.
X100s is of better looking thus can easily gets noticed, but this may be a disadvantage for street photography. Sometimes you are not taking a photo of the pedestrains however they still feel uncomfortable when passing by. GRii's design is less aggressive.
Also GRii is lighter and smaller (251g vs. 405g) which suits my pocket well. The 'SNAP' mode is esspecally convenient for street photography.

GRiii (28mm)/GR iiix (40mm equivalent), and X100v are upgrades for the above two cameras. Considering the current price, I would go for GRiiix (around 1.3k) without a second thought if I must choose from one from these two. (40mm is my favorite focal length…)

Sorry 'best' may be too arbitary haha… I think Sony RX100 series or zv-1 are great street photography cameras too because of their versatile 24-70mm zoom lenses.

X100V was on sale with Digi a couple weeks ago under $1700 and I've seen it go under $1700 regularly so not a deal in my view.

    • Yes this I've been monitoring for a month was on sale for $1659 at digi so I vouch for the guy above.

  • My opinion of this camera is fairly low, if you're shooting happy snaps it's much better than a phone, but it's not even close to an A7, which is admittedly more expensive, but not by much and not much bigger either.

The video quality, the stabilisation, the lens options, the resale etc. make an A7 a much better buy and it's actually available now.

    • +4

I would have thought X100V would attract those who don't want to carry additional lenses and don't want to spend time editing their photos afterwards. From what I've read, Fujifilm cameras have pretty good SOOC (Straigh Out of Camera) jpegs. I know people who take pictures for their Instagram account using their smartphone. They're looking to take better photos (with just auto mode) , but don't want to spend time on the PC editing them. For that purpose, I would think the X100V would be appropriate.

      • Yeah exactly this is strictly for street photography and the 'look'.

Sony A7 is in a completely different category especially being full frame.

  • Fuji have a look, it's not better, it's either preferable or it isn't, I personally prefer a Canikon look sooc but since I almost always tweak, I prefer Sony.

  • Comes up as $1948?
