Seems to have dropped to this price in the last few days. $31.25 per TB.

  Does it make sense to use this as ISO/bulk storage inside a pc(not as nas)?

  Would 5900 limit the performance or is it still better than a 7200rmp SMR drive?

    Just guessing but I think it would be better than an SMR drive (especially for random writes).

      Seem to be their normal ‘discount’ price, within ~$10-20 cheapest I can see recently. Probably neither the best price it will be or best hard drive for the price, but seems like fairly a good deal still.

      Also surely will perform better than SMR, I am just going to store game ISO, and honestly disable it in windows most of the time due to noise anyway. so should be okay.

    Do you want performance or bulk storage? If you are just storing stuff, why does the performance matter? For $125 you are buying a drive designed for reliability.

  I have been waiting for a price drop on the IRON WOLF or WD RED for a long time. I dont think we are getting 30$/TB anymore for these NAS drives anymore

  Just so you guys are aware MSY will ship your bare drive in an original static proof bag inside an Australia Post parcel post envelope with no padding or protection. It brings the true meaning of Plug N Pray when you get it.
