  • No Wifi on this model, is that correct?

    • That is correct. This model does not have wifi

  • Is this a bargin or can i find something better for similar price? My printer just burnt out so i need a new one. Lazer preferably used for shipping labels. This has no WIFI which is abit lame bcz most models around this price have WIFI

    • +4

Hi. If you are looking to print shipping labels then I would suggest getting a black & white laser printer instead.
      Thanks

Getting the toners would be quite a significant cost over time

    • Hi. Yes toners will always be more expensive than ink cartridges.

    • +6

but toners lasts a long time and don't "dry up" like ink cartridges. I would also suspect that they don't stop working just because one color is low/finished!

      • I think xenoic is pointing out that getting toners for this printer model are going to be a lot more expensive than something liek a Brother printer which has more readily available generic toner.

Edit: Doesn't seem to be a problem with this one but when I was looking for a printer a month ago a lot of the Kyocera models didn't have generic.

      • My colour laser has a bit of time printing without the toner but then stops.

    • +1

I have the WiFi version of this printer. Easy to get generic toner for this model and much cheaper than genuine.

Depending on how much you print, the toner cartridges last for ages and the ones that come with the printer aren't the stingy type most ink printers come with.

    website is so slow.

    • yeah, absolutely useless

    • +1

Hi. Sorry about that. It was working fine this morning. If you want to order one you can email us [email protected]
      Thanks

      • Hi Op, any chance you can supply this to Brisbane ? Would like to buy.

    • I eventually got through. Still 6 left

Set of 4x CMYK generic toners is ~$80
    Genuine is ~$300

At current Officeworks print prices, you will be ahead with this printer after ~250 pages

    • +1

Genuine toners are miles ahead of generic in terms of print quality, toner life and even pages/toner.

    • +1

Where to find this CMYK generic toners for ~$80? Genuine question as I don't know much about printer and toners.

    • Hi @highmargin,

Where can one get the generic toners for $80?
THANKS! Just bought the printer :-)

Also, it is about the convenience of printing at home versus going to Officeworks :-)

Suitable if your use case is a small colour laser printer situated next to your laptop/desktop to connect via USB. I would suggest most people can not easily co-locate desktop next to a 20+kilo printer so the lack of wifi is significant. You could connect via ethernet but again it would depend on office vs home use.

Cost of toners is one of the main considerations I think in longevity of a laser printer as well. Cost of genuine set of toners from Inkstation for this is $371. You can find 3rd party sets for half that cost though.

I saw this a few weeks ago for $140 + shipping at https://www.devicedeal.com.au/kyocera-ecosys-p5021cdn-a4-col… and was tempted … but I think I will wait for something with wifi and cheaper 3rd party toners.

The beauty of an ethernet enabled printer like this one is that you can plug it directly into a LAN port on your router. I don't see where office vs home use comes into it.

At my house, the printer is plugged into the router, and all devices can print to it over wifi.

      • +4

What I would recommend.. wifi on printers seems to be asking for trouble. I would rather ethernet over wifi or even USB any day. Wack it on your network via ethernet and you'll never have trouble.

        • That's true, but still really depending on your home office setup. I would pull the trigger on this one if it does have WIFI, as my home office simply does not have easy access to ethernet.

      • +1

+1, wifi is OK for portable devices, but you ain't moving a 28kg printer around. Ethernet it!

      • or even usb is an option for many routers

gave positive is printer deals have been like rocking horse manure

    • +1

      Can I get a translation?

      • +1

Have you ever seen rocking horse manure? Have any of your friends? No?

That's because it's really rare, like printer deals.

        • +1

OH 'rocking horse' manure, not rocking 'horse manure'. Given the rest of the sentences grammar and formatting I really lost comprehension of that entire statement.

  • I always find the colour terrible on sub $500 laser's, and then compatible toners are just unusable. B&W always seem's ok though.

    • +1

I have a Brother 3150 that's a good few years old and it's fine. Certainly not "mount on the wall photo quality" but I've yet to see a laser that would do that. These days I just nip to OfficeWorks if I need a photo quality print.

very happy with this printer- way better than the brother it replaced. generic inks are pretty cheap and excellent quality. wifi not needed for wireless printing if plugged in via ethernet (using a Mac/iphone etc). paid nearly twice this price a year ago, so a good deal in my books.

    $140 + $30 ship here:

    https://www.devicedeal.com.au/kyocera-ecosys-p5021cdn-a4-col…

How are these so cheap? The RRP is about what Fuji-Xerox wanted for a new fuser for my printer.

    • No, Device Deal's $140 price is without GST. So their actual delivered price including GST and Australia wide shipping is $198.20. So its not as good as the OP's price, but its still pretty good. And they seem to have some to sell.

      • +2

        Not correct.
It is actually cheaper! I just ordered it, and found a $10 discount code making it $159.20
        Created a deal here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/716732
        Acknowledged bargaino :-)

        1x P5021CDN Kyocera ECOSYS P5021cdn A4 Colour Laser Printer (Duplex + Network) $140.20 ( Discount - -$10.00 ) $130.20

        GSTInc. $14.47
        Order Total $159.20

    • How are these so cheap? The RRP is about what Fuji-Xerox wanted for a new fuser for my printer.

Because the latter is a well known giant, industry leading standard brand name while the former is just a bit player in the printing world.

Also, the name Fuji-Xerox is no more here in Australia, it's been renamed to Fuji-Film.

Feel free to email us if you want to back order in case we are able to get more stock

  • Think twice about kyocera printers… Are they good quality? Yes. Are they well built? Yes….. BUT… THE OEM TONER PRICE IS HORRENDOUS AND THE PAGES PER CARTRIDGE ARE LOW…

My $500 Kyocera printer multifunction died recently under warranty. The verdict was I used non OEM toner…. Well the carts for this printer are the same ones…. 1200 pages and the OEM price is $440 a set.

They fixed my printer under warranty which was nice. But next time I buy non OEM cats and it fails it has to go in the bin…. At $149 it's no an issue, but for $500 it is…. Shame as it's a great printer and scanner…

$440 for toner is stupidity pricing at best….

Also the carts supplied with it are smaller than normal…

  • Rep. How long before we get shipping notification?

    • Hi
Did you order one? If so we would have emailed you the order confirmation with the tracking number.
      Thanks

  • I understand these are back in stock… but @ $318 - $10. That doesn't get the ozbargain gold star.

    • The deal is over. So i dont know what you are expecting.

      • Well… I know someone who thought they had bought one, but worked out a couple of days after that the deal hadn't gone through.
No matter, I found another ozbargained price color laser printer.

        • You might want to check whether it was thru our website or not. All the orders that came thru our website was fulfilled.
If they have ordered one then they would have an order number. Thanks

          • @TiLLiCoMe: My apologies! I went off half cocked, mixing this deal with the other near identical one. The other mob was the one she was dealing with.
            Sorry.

  • Mine was delivered yesterday. Very happy with the product and service overall.

    • Happy to hear. We were hoping that Kyocera would allocate more to the WA market but shipping is the biggest killer for bulky items unfortunately.
