Asus GeForce RTX 3090 TUF Gaming 24GB $1899 (OOS), Gaming OC Version $1999 + Delivery ($0 QLD/NSW C&C) @ Umart

590

Not as cheap as the recent MSI VENTUS 3090 deal but seem’s to be an all time low for this card and I'm happy to pay the $100 premium for an Ausu TUF.

This is not a deal for everyone but I just pulled the trigger anyway, wanting this card forever just for its compact size, the new 4080/4090 will force me to replace my case and PSU, not mentioning the power bill.

    HODL. HODL. HODL.

      For what?

      • for lower prices of course

    • +1

Don't buy there overpriced trash hodl make them bleed green

  • +1

    Noice.

  • +2

I'm holding…. We're getting to the right price range though

    • +8

Are we though for a graphics card that was released two years ago.

      • +2

Given the circumstances we're in… yes.

      • -1

Yep, nearly 2k for a 2 year old and end-of-life graphics card so no.

        • +6

End of life? I don't think so.

          • +6

@mja: Considering the GTX 700 series reached EOL October 2021 (and even then received a security driver update January this year), I’d say the EOL for the 3090 is still a little while off …

    • +1

What about China boycotting Australian Iron Ore? I read an article speculating prices will go up

      • They might if Brazil can ever pull their finger out. Until then they have no choice.

        • Chinas demand is going to shrink as the construction and banking industries are collapsing right now when there are millions of protesters in the streets in an authoritarian society the shit has hit the fan. Additionally because of the development crash and banking runs government revenue is cratering as well so I don't expect any large projects announced either.

    Terrible price

    • +5

Unless someone needs the 24GB, the 3080 Ti or the 3080 12GB versions are a better choice.

      • Why would anyone buy a 12GB card when for 'just' $350 more you get 24GB? 12GB is tight in some games.
I paid $3k for my 3090 18 months ago but also made $3k mining when not playing (after paying for power). Technically that was a better deal. ;-)

        • +3

You could have made $2,500 mining on a $2k card if you bought a 3080. That would have been the better deal.

The 3090 is terrible on efficiency. And there's no game that 12GB isn't enough on (yet). The 24GB card wasn't targeted at gaming.

          • @freefall101: I wanted a 3090 and it didn't cost me anything. What's not to like?

        • Another brave patriot miner. We are the same, we are brothers.

        • 12GB is tight in no games at all, Even at 4K 99% don’t use more than 10gb

        • -1

I love how all these people who bought cards that are stupidly overpriced all claim they made "money" mining to pay for it but don't mention anything about the electricty and shortening of the life on the card.

          1 word "Denial"

          • @User123321: Two words for you: cannot read

I said after electricity was paid for.
And the card cost me $0

            What's the problem with that?
Haven't mined in 6 months. No issues with the card. I also never pushed it to the extreme.

          • @User123321: Some people have electricity already included in the rent, so they pay a flat fee whether mining or not.

            • @LuCJ: And you think the landlord won't notice the big increase in the electricity usage by the tenant? The landlord will then increase the rent accordingly.

              • @edfoo: Like i said above "Denial" that's what they suffer from lol

              • @edfoo: Maths doesn't seem to be a strong suit for Crypto deniers. A result of using the cards to play beep boop all day long instead of being productive. The tremendous profits and low rent are a thrill to us all.

                • @LuCJ: We all know crypto mining earns money while gaming does not, that's pretty obvious. But that's not the point I was talking earlier. At the end of the day, most people want to buy GPU for gaming, not crypto mining, that's their personal choice, not for you to tell others what to do.

                  • @edfoo: I've never told others to join the team of total victory. It's fine their lives are fritted away buying the latest GPUs to play 10-year-old games like Skyrim for the fifth time or games so buggy they befoul a beautiful card, like cyberpunk. I'm yet to find a game that is truly worthy of the next generation of cards.

                    • @LuCJ: Again that's your own personal opinion on games, other people have enjoyed many current gen AAA games with their brand new GPUs, including me with my RTX3080 and new PC I built in March this year.

                      • @edfoo: Until modern games use the new unreal engine then these cards are crying out in pain at not being utilized properly. I celebrate their form by putting them at 100% with cheap power and maximum profits.

                        • @LuCJ: Again you are only talking about your personal want. I and many others have been enjoying our life in gaming with great graphics. We don't care about crypto mining, and with Etherium's upcoming changes crypto mining can go get stuffed.

                          • @edfoo: Ethereum, or as it is properly known, the most magnificent money-making scheme for honest folk is going to proof of stake but tha leaves lots of other viable coins to mine. Soon these coins shall rocket to victory and our faith in these cards being real workhorses will be rewarded. Your eyes may be dazzled by these sub-par graphics but ours will be popping out of our heads when we see our bank balances.

                            • @LuCJ: Like I have said before, I don’t care about crypto coins.

      • +2

The 24GB is useful for deep learning, otherwise yep.

Which means the price premium from the 3080 to the 3090 needs to be about $100 max - AU$900 for the 3080, AU$1000 for the 3090.

        • 3090 was a great deal for deep learning even at the full price.

        • I'm starting to get into deep learning for work, while my personal GPU I thought hard on, hunted for a bargain, found something that overclocks well when the time comes if I tell my boss I need $2-3k for a GPU to save time they'll simply hand the money over.

That's why the pricing doesn't matter, in terms of worker efficiency those cards easily pay for themselves. And if a bunch of nerds want to get bragging rights on having a pointless card nvidia isn't going to stop them.

  • +3

    Hold for 4070ti

    • +1

      at what price?

    • +1

Risk of being delayed at this point, wouldn’t put all my chips on it

      • +1

        Nvidia did though.

  • +2

Buy a 3080 ti if you must have a gpu right now.

    • +11

Nah, I'd get a 6900xt if only for gaming at 4K.

  • 4080 should be fine on a 750W PSU as its just 10K cores. If not just undervolt it and should still be fine. Unless you are running Intel along with it. Then you need a kilowatt ;)

    • I thought they already recommend 750W PSU for 3080. 850W for more headroom. Yet the upcoming 4080 only needs 750W?

      • Thats because TSMC 5n process is very efficient. and 4080 has just 15% more cores than 3080, but more cache and frequency. But you cant pair it with an high end intel CPU with 750W PSU.

      • -2

TSMC going to get invaded by PRC.

        • I hope Xi gives me at least a few days notice before D-day. I'll go buy a dozen CPU and graphics cards. Make 10x money in a few weeks.
But I don't think D-Day is ever coming. China can do a lot to bring Taiwan into line without invading.

    • -1

      you need 1.21 gigawatts ;)

      • Ya, we can get a 9090 right away!

      • of lightning powered..?

  • -1

$999 by the end of this year

    • +1

Not sure why you were negged, the 3090 will be around 4070 prices, which will have an AUD MSRP of around $900-1000.
The 2080 Ti went from over $2k to <$1k when the 3070 was announced.

  • +1

Great cooler however just be aware that the TUF 3090 is extremely power limited (only 2x8pin connectors=300W +75W from the PCIe slot) leaving barely any OC headroom in comparison to alternatives.

  • +3

I stopped actively engaging in critical HODL thinking and I'm just trusting the bandwagon at this point, updoots for all of you!

    • 🤣

  • I'm happy to pay the $100 premium for an Ausu TUF

I've heard about the VRAM runs hot on TUF series, plus double sided VRAM having 1 side passively cooled by backplate, I'd buy the cheapest model and put on a waterblock mysef..

    • Valid point! However the MSI is back to $2099 now so this TUF is the cheapest model as of today. And I just heard too many thermal issues about the MSI so I guess TUF is less troublesome for me as I'm not a big fan of watercooling the graphics card? I'm actually planning undervolting this card anyway.

      • Was the MSI the ventus or gaming model?

        • +1

Ventus, was $1799 last week by BPC

      • You won't be a fan for watercooling GPU, before you see a not undervolted 3090 runs 60c in furmark under water, this is achieved with 360 rad and a cheap bykski double sided block.

  • lower….

  • Landmark Computers
    INNO3D GEFORCE RTX 3090 ICHILL X4 GAMING 24GB
    $1869
    https://www.lmc.com.au/inno3d-geforce-rtx-3090-ichill-x4-gam…

    • +1

Good finding, this inno3d is cheaper but also worse reputation. I'd wait for the MSI VENTUS going back to $1799 or cheaper (they will all getting cheaper) if TUF is not the one I've been after so long.

  • +1

A 3090 at RRP is such a bad deal, even a further 30% off this price wouldn't be a "bargain".

If you (1) need Nvidia and (2) need top performance and (3) you need it now, go 3080 instead.

    • (2) need top performance

The logic here is confusing, isn't a 3090 top performance over a 3080?

      • probably price-to-performance ratio tips the scale towards 3080.

      • Top doesn't have to mean "the absolute best", otherwise only the 3090 Ti would qualify.

    • +1

It's a great deal if you need CUDA and over 12GB of VRAM, everything else is much more expensive.

  • +2

3090 should be sitting at around $1300 now.

    • when next gen drops

  • +2

Would be crazy to buy this

  • +1

Thanks OP, got one to play minecraft

    • +1

      Ray traced mine craft ftw!!!

  • The top end RTX 4000s will come out first. So the 3090s will take the biggest price hit.
    Hold until black friday.

  • This be out of stock now because I seem to have brought the last one.

    • Now looking to a price drop to claim it back on my 28 Degrees Card, lol.

  • 24gb great for Blender and Video editing.
Enough ram to help you past the next gen of games for years.
