  • which store?

    • +4

That’s the million dollar question nowadays.

      • +5

        $24.95 question in this instance.

    • not your local store - one of those other ones - in a land far, far away …

  • I wonder how big the board is. How much cheese will it truely fit?

    • I was wondering the same thing. But it's likely to be too small for my needs.

      • +7

        Kim Beazley, is that you?

      • +1

        Some one commented it's 25cm

    • 25cm.. managed to get it after talking to someone in charge. Was told to go to the back of the store. Young guy was told to get one. he asked me how many boards I wanted..

Had to explain that one board with purchase of 2 items. It's small. Not the best quality. Had to get Philly cheese again as the board needs to be scanned.

Wasn't planning on another cheese cake but as expiry date is in Jan I will be making another cheese cake.

Thought it said chess board lol

And I was like sure I need a chess board

    Cheeseboard RRP $24.95
Cheeseboard cost price for Coles: any guesses?

    I'd say… $2.65/pc

  • +1

    Good deal.

You had me right up until the having to go to Coles part. To buy cheese…

    • +5

Have you not bought cheese from Coles before?

      • Never.

        A man has his pride…

        • +3

          Aldi fan I presume

        • +2

Coles cheese is pretty good. If you went there you would know.

          • -1

@sunnyc: I always go to coles for their generic cheese, its the woolies stuff you gotta watch out for

          • @sunnyc: Hey, a sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie. But I'll never know 'cause I wouldn't eat the filthy mother-feta's…

          • @sunnyc: don't go there girlfriend !

but I do prefer Coles cheese to hot cheese

cheeses - what would cheeses do !?

            • @Hangryuman: Too late. It sounds like those Coles' Cheese Council creeps have got to him too…

          • @sunnyc: it's not, but phill is good for cheese cake. Plus saves me the hassle of making my own.

      • +2

        Coles, for cheese? How uncouth!

        • +1

I get my milk straight from the cow in my back yard for my morning coffee.
I pity the plebs that have to buy it from Coles.

  • +11

    valued at $24.95

How can they value something that's never been listed for sale previously? Did they get some sort of serving-ware evaluation by a third-party or something?

Not idea of the thickness or overall diameter (OD) of the board. For all we know it could be the same quality as this but with their only valuation. The advertisement and their site are vague regarding any sizing information so we're reliant on someone from the OZB community to report back (Provided someone does)

    • +5

but but but… Philadelphia logo!!!! /s

    • +6

You're putting way too much energy into this…

    • +15

Round piece of wood - $2.00
      Philadelphia logo printing - $0.95
Philadelphia logo rights and royalties - $22.00

    • Unlikely, the Big W one looks like much better quality…

      • this one is kind of free.

  • +2

wish I could get this from buying 2 of those Aldi cheeses that ozbargainer was harping on about

  • +4

It's at most a $5 board, going by the size it may just fit 2 Philadelphia products on it

  • +3

    "Claimants must be 18+"

    • +12

What kind of “Cheese Board” even is this?

The Promoter will not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including, but not limited to, indirect or consequential loss), or for personal injury suffered or sustained, in connection with this Promotion or as a result of accepting or using a Gift

      • +4

That's because somebody will invariably think "will this work as a frisbee?"

      • +1

        Noone:
Philly's legal team: the first thing people will think when they see this is "I wonder if I could shove this up my ass"

Personal injury when accepting a cheeseboard??

  • +2

The bigger question is, what’s on sale?

    • I'll take a guess and say Tim Tams half price.

  • looks like it's the size of a beer coaster

  • +3

I’m still very happy with my two Leggo’s pizza trays I got from a similar deal many years back. I just need to see which two products I’ll actually want to try out.

  • Cheese boards aren’t dishwasherable, are they?

How do you guys efficiently clean it?

    • +4

Dishwasherable if a person is used instead of a machine.

    • +1

wash lightly with water & washing up liquid, rinse & dry immediately so the water doesn't get absorbed, oil board ocassionally

    • +4

Hot dishwasher can cause timber to split.

Further downside, if you leave the timber wet it will start growing mold. You can see the black stuff growing in the end grain of your wooden knife block, for instance.

Hand wash, dry it, then oil it a few times a year too. Simply rub a cooking oil into the surface with a paper towel.

      • I was doing the above minus the cooking oil, using Ikea boards. They last a long time. I'll give the oil+paper towel a go and see how I go with the improvements.

  • +2

If the cheese is on sale and comes with a cheese board is a bonus. I buy it to make Japanese cheesecake.

    • I'm a Basque cheesecake or baked NY cheesecake person myself

    • I fink my maw used to use Philly for her delicious baked murican-style cheesecake - one that actually had a break-apart crumbly texture and a cheesy taste rather than most of today's lumps of sweetness that might have had cheese waved over them.

    • I bought 2 cheese to make cheese cake and cannot get the board. The store is telling me to fill out forms, then it was they don't have the boards. to the boards are located where the cheese is. and I would not lie to you but we never had the boards.

I called the customer service number and they had 26 on site, they are saying they never had them . I want to know who is getting the boards.

  • +4

min spend $6.60 for 2x cooking creams at the moment

    • My local had sweet chilli pour overs for $3.

    • Cheese Cake.. mine turned out perfectly

  • +1

I checked Canberra centre Coles and they double checked with the dairy team and unfortunately none in that store

  • I couldnt find any near me, can you get it online?

  • +1

I found some at my local coles. Nobody has posted any experience so I’m going to dive in first.

Interestingly there’s no markings or signage about the promotion whatsoever, just a box of cheeseboards by the fridge section near the Philadelphia goods.

    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/109323/97436/b76f274d-…

Nothing special, carved logo and markings as seen in picture. Seems to be lightly sanded and have some thin layer of sealant absorbed into the wood.

    25cm diameter
    2cm thick
    Material: rubber wood
    Made in Shandong China

    • Thanks for sharing. I have tried 3 Coles, none have the board in stock.

      • Which ones did you try (if you're in Sydney)?

        • Sorry, in Melbourne, eastern suburbs. One had promotional signs up but no boards, another said they were participating but hadn't received delivery of them yet.

          • @17833: Thanks for sharing. I went to the West Ryde store as I was passing by and no luck. 😑

      • You can only get it from the store where you purchased.

  • Got one, lucky last one.
all stores were pretty out of stock of these.

But honestly this isn't too bad. A good compliment to those who were already gonna buy Philadelphia anyway. (or spend a couple more dollars to get Philadelphia).

Their $3 (cheapest Philadelphia item without clearance) Sweet chili purer or whatever cream is not that bad either. A good compliment to salads IMO.

For those who just want a cheese board for the $24.95 or whatever, you may look at this instead

  • For those in SA, Plenty of them today in St Clair store, There were a few yesterday in Welland too, Other ones near by ones also might get stock soon too

  • Morisset still has 10 boards left.

  • Sydney Broadway store they put it inside the service desk.
