If the Asus model was $20-$30 more maybe it's worth the upgrade for name but really these are the exact same card spec wise.
If you get a dud, it's unfortunate but that risk is with all the card brands.

Sad day in my house hold. Finally putting my strix 1070 ti to rest. Just grabbed this and got my nephew to grab one aswell. Now i can enjoy 4k on my tv. I dont ever care if next gen is twice as fast. My R5 3600 will struggle to run this let alone next gen.
At 4k your mostly gpu bound, your cpu should be ok for the most part 🙂
I know this is not the basic model but when GTX 3080 released for the first time, the original price was cheaper than this.

I remember telling myself that getting a GTX 1080 for $1080 was an ok bargain at the time so this GPU for roughly around that is not bad if you want to compare "apples to apples" high tier price to performance value and all that etc.
It is about the same price if you adjust for inflation.
But having said that there is of course always a chance that it will go even lower especially with the 4000 series on the horizon so HODL some more my fellow HODL'ers.
Personally I did something stupid and bought some entries into a mobile ad from the Goat Club to get a chance to win a "$10,000" computer.. will see how my bets pay off.

Cheers brother! The more reason we have on this webpage the better. People here are completely insane. I'm surprised we haven't seen 10% inflation given most the attitudes on here. Technically we did see 200% inflation with gpu's lol. I'd say they are a small bunch of extremists. Excited teenagers going all in on the crypto fad, and gamers paying inflated prices due to their addiction to video games.
Even though I just bought a gpu I'm still checking in here every now and then lol. I got the 6600xt for $349.. that's all nvidia/amd managed to get from me despite all their price gouging behavior this past 21 months. And that's all they'll get from me for the next 5 years! Never have paid over $400 for a gpu and never will, bought my first gpu in 2004 lol.

True, I wouldn't pay for this 2yrs card at this price, maybe $500, like you said ETH merge is in Sept and 4000 series card announcement in Aug, so prices will drop fast.

Man I don't get you guys. I haven't paid over $400 for a gpu ever and my first gpu was in 2004. Owned around 8 gpu's in my lifetime (fx 5200/6600gt/x600 pro/hd4850/gtx 560/gtx 1080/gtx 970/6600xt!)
Has anyone recieved theirs yet? My nephew bought his 10 minutes after me and lives in Dubbo which is a rural area and has received his today. Mine is still showing that its in the post office at Mount Waverley. Mine and his were posted at the exact same time.
