Was waiting for this deal. Grabbed one

Yep, I was also waiting for the nm790 to hit that magical sub $300 price. Hopefully we don't get screwed by some crazy black friday deal.

      • +2

This is the deal to screw other deals

        • Don't have to convince me, I already bought one!

  • Was combing through old posts to find retailers, found this and was about to post but you beat me to it. Have been waiting for this!

  • +1

questions is - do I wait for the 8TB

    • I wonder how cheap it will be. If the 4tb is $300, I can't imagine the 8tb will be less than $700

      • yea someone was saying 500, but idk how true that is.

        • it will be true in few years

BTW there is a firmware update on this(4TB) SSD: 12237 to 16949

Also FYI: Lexar diskmaster latest version 1.1.4 does not work on Windows 11 for some reason, only on Windows 10. I had to use rufus to make a Windows 10 Windoes To Go drive in order to update the firmware

I think after the firmware upgrade my random write has improved and SSD runs lower temp.

    • Does updating the firmware erase the disk? Is the firmware update important? I bought this drive about 6 months ago and haven't had any issues with it. Currently 3.2tb out of 4tb used and it works great.

      • +1
        1. No
        2. No

It's just a bit of random read performance improvement and lower SSD temperature (somehow, though I have no idea how temperature was improved)

    • Software worked on my windows 11 machine fine. (tested 10 minutes ago)

      • No, Lexar DiskMaster doesn't update the firmware on Windows 11.
        Such a pain.

        Reddit Discussion

        • I literally did it, on windows 11, 10 minutes before that comment.

And I know the difference between windows 11 and windows 10, I believe I was on 24h1 release (hadn't upgraded to 24h2 yet).

I performed the upgrade while installing windows onto my replacement PC a minisforum bd790i that I am 3dprinting a custom case that I am designing.

It was windows 11, and I upgraded my 4tb nm790 Lexar drive I bought in the previous sale perfectly fine.

        • I've upgraded mine on Windows 11 and it worked just fine.

got it from bpc (the heatsink model) about a year ago i think, its solid. can recommend!

    • +1

yeap for $289 and with free headset.

  • about time a non- Fikwot drive got under the $300 mark for 4tb

  • +1

The random write performance is quite bad on this one.

Could anyone share real life experiences with it? If I get it, I plan to use this drive as data drive with lots of reads and writes. Thanks

    • Does drive capacity have an impact on the test? All the other drives are 2tb or 1tb

      • +1

Nah it shouldn't the KC3000 4TB still holds ~1million random R/W on it's spec list.
So I think the lexar just falls short in that category.

    • Random read/write matters if you're using it as an OS drive, or reading/writing to databases.

For storing media or game data it means little.

    • +1

See my comments above, there is a firmware update came out recently and it has improved random write speed

Also 2tb, 1tb nvmes, sata drives and rams are also on special, ask your local lexar reseller on what deals they have.
The deal is also available pretty much in every computer store that sells Lexar (at least they have access to the price).
some of the Gen5 1t and 2t also been discounted.

So there are also 10+ places you can find the deal, if one place sold out.

there won't be 8tb deal this time.
Market expectation is way too low at the moment, however I will do whatever I can before Christmas to run a small batch 8tb deal.

This or the Netac NV7000 4TB for $339 from Ali?

  • Good deal. Thanks!

  • Are these a good choice for use in a PS5?

    • Yes
and if you have a playstation 5 pro
      also yes

  • +1

    Price has gone back up?

    • the heatsink model sold out

      • Hi Chris, do you have a list of retailers that are running this promotion? I’m interested in a 4TB drive without the heatsink. Mwave has put the price back up and BPCTech is awaiting supply. Thanks.

  • Where are the place that I can find the AUD295 for NM790 4TB?

    • it was 299, there are still many places have promo stock

      • Hi Chris, any chance of stores selling it for the mentioned price of 295 as in this deal?
Also for PC do you still need heatsink version?
        Thanks in advance.

  • nm790 4tb with heatsink seems to be back to 399

    • buy the no heatsink one while stock still last :D

  • Hey @Lexar ANZ Chris, I was wondering if you could resume the discount on the Lexar NM790 4TB. I was planning to purchase it today, but the sale has already ended. On the website, it was mentioned that the sale would expire on December 8, 2024, but it seems to have ended early.

    • +2

There are other places selling at 299 currently, quite few store still have stock.
But sure, I will make some arrangement to make sure there are more.
give me few days to get it sorted.

      • Thanks for your reply! I'm actually looking forward to the one with a heatsink. Others do have them but just with a thermal pad. I'd really appreciate if you are able to bring it back!! Thank you so much

        • I don't think I have more heatsink versions, but most shops would have a nvme ssd heatsink for sell.

          • @Lexar ANZ Chris: By the shop are you referring to the online platforms? Since I couldn't find any with a heatsink for the same price as it was on Mwave. If you are suggesting offline stores, could you please name a few that you know? Any info here would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

            • @steamerxander: At the time when I reply you, Metrocom still has some, so was BPC, and PCCG.
now I am not so sure.

              • +1

@Lexar ANZ Chris: Thank you! I also spoke to one of the customer service people at Mwave and they said to wait until BF and Cyber Monday, the same unit will go up on discount again. Not sure if that info is accurate

                • @steamerxander: This aged like milk

                  • @Rage Roze: Praying for a cyber Monday deal with decent stock at this point

                    • @Ipodisclassic: BPC Tech has just got the stock in for Lexar NM790 4TB with Heatsink at $305. Pretty similar deal to Mwave! I've grabbed one.

                      • @steamerxander: Awesome. Saw your comment and picked up the 4Tb drive without heatsink. Thanks.

                        • @Ipodisclassic: Cheers mate! Why would you opt for a non heatsink version? Is there a particular reason? I'm new to understanding SSDs, so just curios haha

                          • @steamerxander: If you're putting it in a laptop, there won't be enough space for the heatsink. It makes the drive physically bigger.

                          • @steamerxander: I already have the heatsink version in my ps5. However I’m buying this one to put in an NVME enclosure which has its own heatsink. So it’s easier to buy one without it. Plus slightly cheaper. Both are excellent drives. Fantastic price at 299.

      • Any deals on the 4tb coming up?

  • anyone received their order from MWAVE yet? Ordered on the 22nd and its still "processing".

    • +1

I ordered on the 22nd and received my order on the 27th.

    • Looks like there is a stock issue on the non heatsink model and the next delivery date is unknown. @Lexar ANZ Chris - do you know when the next stock will be available for those who purchased this deal?

      • +1

just got small quantity delivered today, you will see the last batch of back orders fulfilled.
Mwave over sold and I bailed them out.

    • +4

there are a small batch of customers didn't get there stock because both distie and Mwave have over sold what is actually in Australia.
But I have bailed them out and brought in additional stock at that price.
Sorry for the wait, but it's not really my fault, but I gurantee you will get your order soonish, let me know if you didn't get them.

      • Thanks for that @Lexar ANZ Chris, just wanted to see if its was going to happen - appreciate your reply.

        • +3

There will be some wait, but I won't let Mwave cancel your order.
And I will make sure every single person who ordered during BLF promo gets their stuff.

      • thanks Chris for the update!
Legend as always - will keep an eye out for my order too

        • +2

The Heatsink version arrived already, if you havent get your stock, it's probably the NHS ones.
Give it few more days, it will get there.
