  • Anybody konw how to update to version 4.0?

    • +2

Not sure myself, but I found this

" For those of you that are already Sony Tablet S owners, the next time you connect to Wi-Fi, your Sony Tablet S should prompt you to do a system update – just click OK to download, and in a few minutes you should be ready to go on Android 4.0. We know you have been eagerly awaiting this update, so we can’t wait to hear what you think about it."

Wouldnt use wifi to update firmware if disconnected your tablet might die forever. My friend used wifi to upgrade his modem router firmware and was disconnected half way through. The modem is now dead!

        • +2

One would hope that the update is a packaged binary file download, which then auto-executes; otherwise, yeah doing it live via the wifi's could be risky business indeed!

        • Completely difference way with router and tablet.

    • Yep, prompts to update when you turn it on. Also won't let you install unless connected to power. Update is really quick, and really nice.

  • Nice video. With the features shown in videos, are they mostly Android specific? Meaning the difference in tablets is just speed, responsiveness etc?

nice this will look good with my xperia s

This is not sale, this is the normal prce. My friend bought this model for $392 from JB a couple of weeks ago.

    • Your friend may have bought the 16gb version

    • +1

Today JB HI have it listed @ $494 . So I cant see how you could say thats the normal price

  • the Aldi branded one this week for $249 may offer some stiff competition

    • I'm wondering if they have any of their 3g 10 inch tablets left (Lifetab), they were selling them at 400 to 440.

  • worth buying since there is 3G version available now?

    • +3

I guess that depends if you want 3G..
I was holding out for a windows Tablet myself as Win 8 comes out in a few months, but at this price
      I think its good value.

      • +1

true, I am waiting for Win 8 tablet too.

      • I am as well waiting for win8 tablet lenovo yoga guess the price won't be a bargain

  • +3

price is actually $396. you can use this surplus $2 for a cheese burger and free Wi Fi at Mcdonalds hahaha

    • Fixed..
A cheese burger would have been nice though

    • +5

why have a cheese burger when you can have a double cheese burger for the same price

    • +4

why either of those when you can get a whopper and small fries from Hungry Jacks until 31st June with that iPrimus Coupon.

      • +5

Now I do not know what to spend the $2 on. I think i'll cancel the order and just give up

    • true ozbargainer!

  • I saw the deal last night.
It doesn't have hdmi out (dlna instead), no gps, no usb charging. Comes with only a big charging adaptor. Performance benchmarking isn't good either.

    • I was told before all Andriod devices have GPS build in that is a Google requirement. Correct me if I am wrong.

      • +1

Specs says it has GPS.. Cheers

Bought a Transformer TF300T 32G 2 days ago, $550 with keyboard dock. If that dock worth $150 then the Asus is much better deal.

  • Toshiba 7in for $200 seems better if you do not mind the slightly smaller size

    • Sorry I'm using my phone didn't mean to neg. Really though they're a different league, 7in is 25% smaller and there's nothing else as comfortable for reading as the Sony. I have one of these and a nook colour.the nook is 150g less but because of the Sony's shape it feels lighter

I bought the 16GB for my girlfriend a few months ago and really like it. No complaints so far. Comes with a lot of cool Sony apps and access to the playstation store. With the ICS update you can also expand storage using SD card. We got a 32GB card so now have 48GB of storage!

Anyone else waiting for Asus Infinity?

    • +1

Anyone knows about the specs for Asus Infinity yet? Is it worth waiting for and will it be priced at $800+ which is different range from Sony Tablet S?

  • +1

I have one of these and I really like it. Its refreshing to see Sony have not gone down the road other companies have, trying to make another poor android iPad knock off and actually done something original. I highly recommend it. If you plan on rooting it, read up at xda BEFORE updating to ics

  • This is very cheap for a 32gb tablet. I recently bought the Sony 16gb for $398, so this deal is much better. This is one of the best android tablet out there I must say.
