Watch out for the other amazon stores selling this for $550, they are 3rd party sellers and probably scammers.

    • +1

If they are scammers, you shouldn't have any problem getting a refund from Amazon.

    • Amazon's pretty good in dealing with problems you face with 3rd party sellers. Calling them "scammers" is a bit rich. Philips has a LOT of resellers, both offline and online, and no doubt some of them are selling on Amazon.

    • +3

Unsure why this comment to remind OZB members not to choose other sellers by mistakes is negged. Have an upvote to make it even steven.
By the way, even other sellers have lower prices $550 they are NOT eligible for $100 cashback from Philips so the Amazon AU net price is still lowest.

  • Anyone who bought it in the last deal can please comment on the coffee quality it makes?

    • And the milk foaming quality too, the cheap ones do it really poorly.

      • I know the beans make a huge difference but the machine can also be a factor for a good cup of coffee.
Edit: nice top hat by the way.

        • as does the skill of the person making it…

The quality of the coffee at our local cafe varies by barista quite a bit, even though they are using the same beans and same machine.

          • @jv: There is skill involved in a fully automatic coffee machine? Is it to adjust the right temperature, correct amount of dose etc?

            • @wtfnodeal:

There is skill involved in a fully automatic coffee machine?

It will depend on how experienced the little leprechaun that lives inside is…

I just reviewed this machine back in May. Made a short/quick video of it on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HCuc92cyns

I love it, overall. The quality obviously depends on the coffee beans you put in - I've tried St Ali, Proud Mary, Patricia, and Market Lane on it. The quality of milk also makes the difference (e.g Pura Milk vs the creamier milk from a local shop, which makes it better).

The only drawback is if you want a Latte, you need to "hack" the machine as it can only do Cappuccino. So you make Cappuccino, then pretend to do another one but without the coffee so you can get just the hot milk. Then throw some froth away with a spoon. But apart from that, quite perfect.

Also love how long it takes for you to descale the machine, thanks to the water filter

      • Thanks for the review, I'm interested in buying for my mum to replace her 10 year old Delonghi which she complains is very loud.

What's the machine like when grinding beans? Enough to wake up a household in the morning?

Sounded quiet enough in your video but there was some music over it

        • it is quite loud during milk frothing and grinding/cleaning

      • @ Lyon. So to make a latte when you say pretend to do another one but without the coffee. How do you do that exactly?

        • Use the bypass option but don't put any coffee in the bypass chute.

  • Great coffee machine, for those who don't want to play with manual settings and want just to press a button. I can confirm the beans make a difference.

    • what beans do you recommend? I'm using Lavazza Espresso Barista Intenso Beans and I got the 4300 and not really that thrilled with it. Going to try different beans before I claim the 90 day return

      • I tried the beans you mentioned, as well as Costco Dark Roast Beans and drinking Airjo Sumartra from this deal at the moment, and they certainly taste better, but taste is a very personal choice, I guess

Just read the reviews. For a machine that has Latte in the name, but does not have Latte as one of the presets is ridiculous! Buyer beware. Apparently the milk froth is not hot enough too, not sure if it can be adjusted.

For a machine that has Latte in the name

It used to do Latte, but they let it Go due to customer feedback.

  • 4300 is a much better machine, more options etc yes higher price point but I'd recommend it.

    • +1

only more options of drinks, the rest is absolutely the same, the same milk frother and the same brewing group

  • Just found the user manual. Suggest to read this before buying. Looks like coffee temp can be adjusted, but not the milk froth temp.

  • I returned mine from the previous deal. The coffee quality was good, but the cleaning/maintenance requirements were a bit much for me and outweighed the convenience of a one-press coffee for me.

Don't know what went into the design process for this, but the grinds always found their way into the moving components and I had to keep cleaning + regreasing the machine. Prior to this I was using a cheapo Beko machine and that thing chugged on for like 3 years with no issues.

    after reading from various comments
seems this is a great fully automatic coffee machine with a few drawbacks:

    • Only 3 coffee modes and without Latte mode
    • Cannot froth milk alone, has to always goes with coffee
    • milk froth temp and froth level cannot be adjusted

probably a machine best for someone that needs a easy-to-use machine by simply pressing 1 button
otherwise the Philips 2200 Classic might overcome some of these issues:

  • Waiting for a deal on the 4300

    • What features are you wanting from the 4300 that the 4200 can't do?

      • more drink options compared to 2200 like latte.

    • Personally, I'm waiting until they release the latest version the Lattego 5400 which is only available currently in the UK and USA Amazon.

I could do with the 4300 which is the newest version that is available in AU and selected brick and mortar stores.
But I should have pulled the trigger when Amazon were selling this a few weeks back at around $800

      • +1

Reckon the 5400 would be around the same price and drop the 4300 down? Or just another step in price up?
I was eyeing the 5400 too, but only because the missus drinks flat whites. If I can get the flat white out of a 4300, I could settle for the cheaper option too

  • Cheers OP ;)

  • +1

Anyone can suggest a good fully automatic coffee machine that can do flat white? Budget around 1-1.5k. Thanks

  • Or 532 days of coffee from 7/11. Which is better?

    • More days unless you get free coffee bean. But the convenience of not needing to leave your house to get to 7/11 is good too.

  • +1

Was about to buy - then read comments above suggesting this model called "LatteGo" can't make a latte?

    • Yeah I guess a hotdog doesn’t have a dog spoils all of it.

  • price has gone up to $702.35

  • +1

    Price back to $630
