    On the packaging where it says "Smart device required but not included" - is this referring to a smartphone, or some Smart Lego device?

      Your own smartphone/tablet. It is controlled from the Lego app.

      The lego side smart receiver is included.

      Works best with an IOS device.

      Android devices seem flakey with Bluetooth connection.

      I have tried 2 android phones that both disconnect frequently and have resorted to using an ipad pro to control it.

      Make sure your phone is on the list of approved devices, or have an IOS device to control it.

      Trying to explain to a 5-year-old that your fancy phone doesn't work with it is very difficult.

        Had no issues on S20 or S22. It does work better with an ipad given its larger screen regardless.
