    No usb ports.

    • +1

What are people using the ports for out of curiosity? Always on Chromecast?

      • I use mine for a USB powered weather station on one board, the other I run a small USB powered light near the coffee machine and one is running an ornamental light.

      • Console controller charging. Lack of USB isn’t a biggie for me but since I’m happy to use an adapter.

I had the same thing but then realised I was inputting my email as my id and not the id they had given me Hope this helps.

My Australian Super gave me access (IIRC)

    • +2

Rest Super is offering it. Can sign up without even putting in a tax file number.

      • Does that work? I recall reading that others tried and didn't get access.

        • Worked for me a couple weeks ago.

        • just worked for me easily.

  • didnt say how much joules it is protected for…..

    • 900 joules mate

      • +2

        Are you sure?

        Belkin says 650 joules

Good deal , wish there was a good price on the 8 port w usb

    • $39 @ TGGC is a pretty decent price.

Looking for a good one with individual on off switches for each port.

  • Damn Amazon is nearly triple for this

  • Could it be used as extension for kitchen appliances such as breville coffee machine or microwave?

    • -1

I wouldn't. Turn more than one on and the power may trip.

      • This is what I'm trying to find one with surge protection for.

Unfortunately I got a dual port outlet that has a kettle, microwave, rice cooker and toaster connected to it.

And on rare occasions a blender, grinder, can opener and probably one other thing I'm currently forgetting.

        • You only need overload protection for that, not surge.

          • @Duff5000: Any suggestions I think I need 6 port minimum.

            • @AlienC: Just about all have that: https://www.bunnings.com.au/click-white-6-outlet-powerboard_…

              $4

Just remember many kitchen devices use plenty of power. Especailly toaster, microwave, kettle. Running more than one or 2 at a time will trip the overload switch. Blender, can opener and grinder would all be pretty low power.

              • @Duff5000: Excellent this should do for now to replace a few old looking power boards until I can find a cheap one with overload protection with individual switches

                • @AlienC: They had those as well. https://www.bunnings.com.au/arlec-6-individually-switched-ou…

Probably cheaper around, i didnt look, but really id be surprised if you found a switched power board without overload protection.

@Duff5000: Wow thanks I really appreciate the hard work you did for me today this I think covers most of my switched powerboard needs and non switched powerboard needs.

Yeah I think they should all have overload protection which is what I'm mainly looking for (basically to prevent a fire or worse when someone tries to use the kettle, toaster and microwave all at the same time and even more).

Surge protection which I assume is for mainly guarding against lightning strikes I'm not going to bother protecting for just the overload stuff for mainly the kitchen and my pc and etc setup.

I can't run a heater in my room with my other stuff for this reason.

  • even though this is slimmer and may suite some, i'd pay abit more to the cyberpower 8 port, with usb and up to 2750 joule protection.

    • +1

I have two of them and they have been fine. Lots of people on ozb say the connector quality of the cyberpower boards is garbage.

  • This went up by 2 dollars I got it for 20 with my ggc but still a very good price !

8 Port with 2 USB also available for $39 here: https://www.thegoodguyscommercial.com.au/belkin-8-port-surge…

Belkin top boards but I went a Jackson 6 port , " individually switched " , for $33ish from woolys and plugged it into Belkin wall socket surge protector . Ok , stupid or OVERBOARD ??? Biffed cyberpower after reviews on here .

  • Perfect! My current powerboard is starting to make worrying sounds.

  • Thank you Op! managed to grab 3 as my old existing power board are in need of replacements.

  • Cheers OP, glad I searched before I went buying! Grabbed 2 to replace some old ones, for c&c at the local down the road :)

  • My Noirot panel heater (2400w) has started tripping my cheap power board all of a sudden after a couple months of not tripping it. And I've always only had a monitor and the heater plugged into the board. The power board is just a standard cheap one from Coles. Will this Belkin solve the problem? Thanks in advance

    • All good, tested another cheap power board and it doesn't trip. I'll pick up the Belkin today!

  • The USB ports in power boards, are they any good? Or are you better off getting USB chargers which would just fit into one of the points in the power board?
