  • Is there much of a value difference between this and the dual OC model?

  • Not really the dual OC version has slightly higher clock speeds.

  • Who's Jimmy

    • +2

      Jimmy77 you don't know this man ?

He's a living legend in these parts of town.

      • Apologies my friends Jimmy has betrayed you. I caved and bought the $349 6600xt eagle. And I feels dirty.

But in a way it is the ultimate hodl (I bought it to prevent myself spending more). I was willing to give AMD $530 for a 6700xt but due to the lack of leniency with pricings the last 6 weeks, they only get $349. I ruled this card out due to 128 bit memory, but I will just lower textures/AA and now give AMD almost half the cash I was prepared to.

Coming from a 970 and some vram/stutter issues in Hell Let Loose I decided not to hodl longer and see what better deals arise. If I had 1060/1070 I would've definitely hodled for a decent 6600xt model at these prices. I think far better tier 6600xt models without noisy fans will be available soon (for $330-$400).

I was also shocked (and disgusted) to see PLE with more XFX RX6600. I thought they were all gone and to be replaced with 6650xt? As usual additional stock has been held back from customers to create artificial demand. With retailers/distributors trying these tactics I figured $349 was essentially the lowest amount these stores could make off me ($300 gets me a 6500xt, which is a sidegrade from a 970).

Jimmy has embraced tightarsery and HODL to such an extent that no GPU deal can ever meet his standards.

      • +11

Jimmy simply has integrity. He'll buy when they aren't price gouging - whether it's manufacturers, suppliers, or retails that are doing the gouging.

        • +1

Since when is $599 for a 6700 XT price gouging?

          • +2

@Tacooo: Since the next generation is only a few months away, GPUs are historically steeply discounted at this point, not selling for around their MSRP (the 6700XT had an inflated MSRP, it should have been priced around $400 USD or $640 AUD).

            • @iseeyou1312: I'm holding out because I can and hope prices fall further, but $599 for this is still one of the best deals you've been able to get in a few years now so it's worth noting.

          • @Tacooo: Umm since when isn't it?

That's like saying "since when is 60k for a 15yr old td42 patrol price gouging"

Take a step back and realize you're talking about $600 and a mid range gpu. It's easy to deduce it is infact price gouging. (it's literally still priced higher than the 3060ti msrp)

We need more Jimmys to bring prices back to normal.

Think the ETA is a bit off…

    • slightly but card is in stock now.

I'll see what the RX7700xt or rx6700xt delivers when they come out :) i think $600 should get me one by that time and duing a global recession maybe less.

AMD is said to release the 7600, 7800 and 7900 cards at the same time with 7700xt early next year

Nvidia will be out with 4080 and 4090 cards only.. with 4070 early next year and 4060 coming out late next year also.. they really dont want people buying the value cards this time around and with a 4070 and rx7700xt being faster then the 3090 and 6900 i can see why they are holding those cards back… no one would by the old stock if they came out.

AMD and nvidia moved production alocation of chips from 3080 to 3090s and from 6800 to 6900s to make more money but now have an over supply of these things at prices no one ever really wanted to pay.

We havent even seen the REAL GPU crash once the new stuff comes out and miners dump everything

  • +2

I know you. I know what you were, what you are. People don't change! You're Slippin' Jimmy!

  • +1

The hobby miners are already dumping 6600xts for 350 or less, dust covered as they are from running a mining shop in a shipping container.

    • lmao… u do know when miner dump the card it wont be that obvious… we got dust blaster alcohol swipe and nice brand new box dude

      • +4

All used cards are a gamble if they dont still have warranty.. dust or no dust.. Prices need to be way lower vs new

      • Eh, a significant number seem to not give a shit about that at all. I'd have no problems with a mining card that's been left on, as they get far less thermal shock. The warranty would be an issue however and you'd want to sell it for at least no more than 50% of current retail to tempt me.

        • +1

thermal shock?… i would be more worried about fans failing due to them being run 24/7 :) is just annoying needing to replace those things with parts from ebay china sellers

          • @vid_ghost: Eh, fans are an easy fix. I'd rather not use a mining card of course.

            • +1

@motk: As it is, I gave up and got myself a $379 Asus RX 6600 dual from Umart, as the R9 380 I'm using now is very tired. If there's a huge price drop in the near future I'll sell it and upgrade.

      • +1

Exactly what they would do (they are scum of the earth wall street inspired beta sociopaths). They didn't mind destroying gaming for 2 years and polluting the globe. Repacking old hardware as new isn't past them.

  • +1

Back in stock, grabbed one for my nephews computer as the old RX580 died :(

    • +1

Huge upgrade.. This is faster then a $1200 RTX2080ti

      • +2

Well I may be stealing this and giving him my 5700XT :P

        • +2

Not a bad upgrade about 30% gain over a 5700XT.

  • All gone now boys gl .
