The blue Bulova ‘daydate’ (Surveyor) they have for $149 is really nice too. I just wish it were mechanical.

Not loving the strap. Love the dial though.

Strap is indeed rather ugly and a strange choice to put on the Sports.

I got this variant as a Christmas present from my then fiance and when we got married I swapped out the strap for a black leather one and it elevated the watch quite a lot!

        • Looks nice.

    • Yeah have never liked mesh or at least not on that watch - usually too blingy & dressy. Probably ok still and comfortable though.

Not sure on the lug width but easy enough to change the strap. A bond NATO would look alright, I thought Seiko 5s weren't big watches but perhaps the old ones weren't.

$600 RRP for a Seiko 5 is a bit inflated.

You'd be crazy to buy any Seiko for RRP. Only the brick and mortar jewelers really try to sell them at those prices.

  • Good price. Thick watch tho

Thanks for the post, bought a cheap smilesolar watch cos I don't have a white watch :)

I bought one of these a few months ago. I was initially skeptical about the bracelet and was planning on swapping to a Jubilee style bracelet, but it arrived and actually looks quite nice IRL!
The green on the dial is a nice khaki green colour. It pops a little as its metal and has reflective qualities, but it isn't the 'kermit the frog' green on some other Seiko divers.
For $249 its a great buy in my opinion.
