NAS, NBN modem / router / wifi. Security system!
Pr0n in a blackout
depends on how long you need
And your load.
Rule of thumb is the more load the shorter the time.
Not sure everyone is satisfied with that outcome.
@Ok computer: They'll be satisfied after outcome.
@eug: you missed the chance on the pun
@CptnObvious: Sperm me the details.
Thats what mobile phones were invented for.
The items description has exactly this question answered :)
Provide an emergency power supply for your electrical equipment to protect your investment from unexpected power disruption, including spikes, surges and voltage dips.
Been considering getting one for my security cameras and router so they are always available even during an outage.
How long would you expect this model to give you back up power?
Looking at the device runtime table on Amazon, not very long. Especially if there is a NVR with HDD included with these security cameras.
This would probably only last about 15 mins but depends on watts being pulled
My system is just a home base with the cameras on their own battery. I cant imagine the base station and the router taking up much power, but would need to look into that for sure.
Barely get any outages, and if so they have lasted <30mins.
Might be good to have just in case someone thinks switching the power off will disable security from getting saved and uploaded to a server.
it's german therefore it's good
As a German, you know what really grinds my gears?
Nothing. German engineering is flawless.
And that's why they called it the final solution
Very good for IT equipment during brown outs. Also means that during power outages I can still have internet. Schneider Electric is French and they own a few other companies including APC, Square-D and Clipsal
Schneider is actually French.
APC was American. Schneider-Electric bought them, and they're French.
I just use my multiple power banks
They can power routers, laptops etc
The point of a UPS is to have an uninterrupted power supply. They trigger automatically when the power goes off plus they can provide voltage smoothing as mentioned by Mr Random. I run two NAS drives, two routers and cable modem off my NAS. It also has alert triggering so that it can do a graceful shutdown of devices via SNMP traps but I can't be bothered setting that up.
I guess im a simple guy then lol
@easternculture. You have a different use case. A laptop has it's own battery therefore it doesn't require external power during an outage. Also you can use a mobile or tether your laptop to get internet connection. But if you have devices that don't have their own power or medical or security equipement that needs power security then a UPS can be a useful product to own. I orginally purchased one because I lived in an area with lots of brown outs that might have damaged my gear. I also know someone who has one attached to the pumps on his fish tank just in case the power dies.
It was out of stock while I was thinking do I need it or not LOL. I guess I don't need it atm
The 1200 one still on special if anyone interested.
