Upgrading from my OM-D E-M10 Mark 1. Seems like a good deal that includes a great lens. Next cheapest I found is Ted's Cameras for $1699.

Rumours of them announcing an upgraded OM-5 in the next few months but that will likely be far more expensive.

Black also available for $1499.99 - https://www.amazon.com.au/Olympus-Mirrorless-Camera-OM-D-Mar…

In line with the current trend of portable cameras capable of high-end results, Olympus bring you the Mirrorless OM-D E-M5 Mark III. The E-M5 Mark III is lightweight and compact, while it features a range of high-end functions which would usually be expected of cameras of larger stature and premium range. A 20.4MP Live MOS sensor works in tandem with a TruePic VIII image processor to deliver high-quality images and videos and fast-paced performance. This fast-pace extends to the 121-point on-sensor Phase Detection AF system and 10 frames per second continuous shooting, both of which are of benefit to shooters of sports and similarly speedy applications.
As well as the AF system, this New Olympus E-M5 Mark III camera borrows the Delta-shaped EVF from the high-end E-M1 camera, resulting in an enjoyable and comfortable viewing and composing experience. Users can choose between this EVF and the large LCD screen which is tiltable to allow framing of images at tricky angles. This LCD screen, as well as the built-in 5-Axis image stabilisation which is built into the camera's body, are of benefit for still shooting but also video recording, which the E-M5 Mark III produces in 4K 30p resolution. With all of this functionality featured in-camera, it must be recognised how remarkable its compact, lightweight stature is, and this becomes even more notable when considering the weather-sealed qualities.

  • Upgrading from my OM-D E-M10 Mark 1

    Good choice.

Fun fact, Olympus has the 2-year Pro Service warranty for E-M5 III and above:
    https://shop.olympus.com.au/pro-service-programme
E.g. Priority Service and Fast Lane repair (5 days).

  • How does this lens compare to the 12-40 2.8?

    • +1

      Slower. F4.

    • As mentioned it's a bit slower, but it's still meant to be a fantastic lens, and I've seen it mentioned in a few places that the advantages over the 2.8 aren't worth the cost.

      • I like the 12-40 and have had my fingers crossed to get a bundle with it.
I would prefer the 2.8 speed, and the focus clutch, that allows you to easily switch to manual focus.

As mentioned it's slower, less depth of field. But it is much lighter and more compact and has better weather sealing compared to the old 12-40mm. But then Olympus spun the company off and there's a new 12-40mm from OM Digital that is apparently extremely good.

I have the 12-40 2.8 because it's a lens that can basically always left on the camera, all the time. It's good at everything. But at the same time, if I got the 12-45 as part of a kit I'd be happy with it and buy some sharp primes for those times I want that. Definitely no reason to own both though.

If I had my time again, I'd buy the 12-100mm f4. But then that costs more than this bundle. I've finally learned that depth of field/speed isn't everything if you plan your shot properly.

  • Got myself the older e-m5 mark ii that is close to new condition on Facebook marketplace with two lenses (45 f1.8 and 14-150) for less than $600. Unless 4K video or amazingly fast autofocus is needed, the mark 2 is still a very good camera with more than enough capabilities for an photography enthusiast.

  • and if you want more range the 40-150 f4 PRO is also on sale at the moment, only a couple left

This morning, one can get 40-150 f2.8 for less than $1,500
      missed that deal :-(

      • amazon?

        • +1

Yes, on 12 July morning around 08:30am, prime day deal, by lunch time, the price back to 2K.
should have click the "buy" button at that time, but was rushing out to work.

  • Does Amazon qualify for the lens promo?
    either 40-150 or 25 1.8 if you purchase an OM-D EM-5:

    • +1

In my past Amazon purchase, Olympus approved my Amazon AU receipt for their promotion.

Beware V207092BE000 and V207092SE000 are not on Olympus's list. Probably a deal breaker unless you want to take the risk.

Also you probably need at least the serial number on the box (if not the item) to claim the item, which means Olympus needs to confirm/deny the claim within the 30 day return window or you're screwed.

      • Yeah, the mpn no is confusing. Googling between V207092BE000 and V207092BA000 returned same kit black 12-45mm.
