To me, the Q7 series is a step up from the S5 / S6, but step down from S7. They don't have any special mopping features (no sonic mop/autolift).

However the Q7 has a massive 750ml dustbin

Regretting buying a Ecovacs N8 now for $400 odd

    The ecovacs is better than the Xioami Mi that I had previously. However the battery life is subpar on carpet (ie at higher suction levels). And having a 750ml dustbin is a huge plus.

    Yes the N8 is cheaper, but for $160 I might have gone the Q7. But hard to know which is better without using them back to back

        for $160 extra, the Q7 gets:
        Much larger bin
        Much longer battery life
        More suction

        The N8 can't finish one level of my carpeted house, on a charge, and it's not massive. The old Xiaomi could do it without issue.

        But horses for courses, and most might find the n8 is sufficient.

          You seem like you know a fair bit. What ate your thoughts about the obstacle avoidance between N8 snd Q7?

            @jecec: The N8 has dTOF, but doesn't have any cameras. I think the Q7 is similar. If you real avoidance of small things, eg cables / poo you might need the T8. All of them will be fine avoiding stairs / cupboards / big things

      Ok, now my decision gets harder.
      I was originally looking just at N8.

      Now I'm considering N8, Q7 and Q7 max.

      I'm in an 100sqm apartment, 1/2 hard floor and 1/2 carpet.

      Got kids, no pets. Would really love to not have to pick random toys and stuff on the floor just for robot vacuum to work.

      Any recommendations?

      Hmmm I think the N8 has a HEPA filter, but the Q7 only has a E11 filter (looks like only filters out 95% of stuff). But there are also genuine Q7 washable Hepa filters available - so maybe you can just upgrade it?

  Q7 max looks impressive comaring to S7, suction for Q7 is almost double, however, S7 got sonic mopping.

  Can someone please enlighten me, what's the difference between Q7 max, Q7 and S7 max?
  If I don't need the mopping function which one should I go for, for the best bang for buck?
