For any fellow Astronomy and Astrophotography nerds.

I think this deal offers great value for the price. With 80mm ED Glass and an F7 Ratio gives you a good balance between planetary and deep sky viewing/imaging. Yes you do need to BYO a mount. Pairing with the optional SV193 0.8x reducer brings the F ration down to 5.6 for faster imaging and wider views. The 102mm and 70mm versions and other SVBONY products are also on sale.

  • Does this come with eye piece?

    • No, looks like you'll also need a mirror diagonal to hold the eyepiece.

  • This vs JWST?

    • -2

Can beat any chinese space telescope though..

    • Can I see the JWST with this telescope?

  • always wanted to get into astrophotography but price for decent equipment puts me off. yesterday I checked review of a Svbony refractor vs some reflector. seems like reflector had better image quality.. but alot of tradeoffs.

Check out Iceinspace.com.au and astrobuyandsell.com.au for second hand equipment. That's where I've purchased most of my gear from.

      • +2

yeah I do for Iceinspace. normally Im too slow for great deals & just miss out, or need to wait for something decent in same state to pop up. challenge for astrophotography is theres no single best solution.. depending on what your imaging you will be bound to have a mini collection of different scopes.. ha and it goes downhill from there for the wallet.

Thanks for that! I hadn't come across those websites before.

For others, the correct link for the second site is: https://www.astrobuysell.com/au/

  • How does this compare to reflector telescope lens sizing? Would this be equivalent to 150mm?

    • Do you mean the view you would get if you had the same eyepiece in each telescope? Reflectors tend to be less zoomed in, around F5, compared to this F7 refractor. Using this calculator gives you an accurate indication of what you would actually see.

  • Temping iv been wanting to go from astrophotography with regular lenses to a telescope but seems like such an expensive rabbit hole

  • Can't speak for the telescopes but the optics on the Binoculars are incredibly good if that helps.

  • Looks like 10% Coupon has been removed, now showing as $524.99

    • Bugger, that made my choice of not buying easy.. was right on the edge. Hopefully I dont do something silly in the future and impulse buy a 8" RASA

Out of interest did you buy on eof these and are you on astrobin ?

  • Will this fit on my AR?

    • Can you expand AR sorry.

  • hmm this are Astro-Tech triplet 80mm. (even though its probably twice the price unless can wait and score a 2nd hand deal)
