[VIC] Dewalt 5.0Ah 18V XR Li-Ion Battery (DCB184-XE) $99 @ Bunnings

270

I was just in the tool shop of Bunnings and noticed 5.0ah 18V DeWalt battery for $99. Seemed cheaper than usual and googled to see other stores have this for $135

Sydney tools - $139 - https://sydneytools.com.au/product/dewalt-dcb184-18v-5-0ah-x…
Just Tools - $135 - https://www.justtools.com.au/dewalt-18v-50ah-lithium-ion-xr-…
Amazon - $135 - https://www.amazon.com.au/Dewalt-DCB184-XE-Li-Ion-Premium-Ba…

Not familiar with the eBay stores but seems to be around $119

I know it isn't great value buying batteries on their own, but thought it could be handy for someone who got this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/709385

The twin back of these batteries is listed as $299 at Bunnings https://www.bunnings.com.au/dewalt-18v-xr-li-ion-5-0ah-batte…

Price seems to only be in Victoria. Other states listing it for $139.

  • Instore only?

    • I just tried and I could add to cart for $99. But it is Vic only it seems.

    • Is it compatible with this Dewalt heated jacket?

      • It is but 5ah is quite large and heavy for the jacket pocket. 2ah would be more comfortable.

      • Yes and would last a whole week lol

Yep, last long if low mode on heat jacket BUT bulky in front of your tummy. Suggest you can buy universal adapter with belt clip from ebay.

        • Great idea. I'll hang it from my tool belt. The extra weight won't be that noticeable plus, if the battery on my drill runs out, I'll have a spare battery handy.

  • Thanks mate

Tip . Don’t leave these on the charger once fully charged. Did that to one and it barely holds A charge now

  • Shows as $139.00 Here In Perth

  • Nice find. regarding longevity, do you know the printed or stamped date, top of the battery? If year is 2016 to 2019, it may be getting old.

  • Does anybody know how to adapt these 18v batteries to the 14.4v XR Dewalt drill/drivers etc? People have argued quite convincingly that it has worked wonders for them for years (and is fine, considering most Dewalt motors' "voltage range"), but I can't find the specifics/vids/tech specs of this hack online, or any adapters that don't look like the old ni-cad types.

edit: in short, how do I make this battery fit where this battery currently goes (my charger already does both)?

    • i personally wouldnt bother as i dont like the idea of damaging my skins

i have a heap of B&D gear and although DeWalt Stanley B&D are all the same company none of their stuff is LIKE compatible… the slots and active contacts are different.

You can get adapters off ebay for like $50 but then you may as well put that into genuine batteries.
