    No Thors.

      • What a load of bollocks.

Must be so many potentially great movies that didn’t get made over the years because of the endless stream of cliched mass produced dribble that got made instead.

I thought I was imagining things by the sheer volume of cliched Superhero films being made, so I counted them up to see if I was right. For just DC and Marvel, so not including Transformers or any of that other like-minded junk, I got up to 108 films. 108! Just DC and Marvel! That really is beyond a joke…

        • +4

Yeah. It’s terrible. Production line of shit being pumped out. I can’t believe there’s actually a market for it anymore.

I will say at least DC make an attempt to be different. It doesn’t always work, but at least they try to deviate from only making movies targeting 10 year olds.

          • +2

@PainToad: Lol DC can't touch Marvel. I agree Marvel are milking it but it's much better than the DC stuff (besides the Vale Batman trilogy which was good).

            Aquaman was also ok.

            • @Circly: Hmmmm, Aquaman.

            • +1

              @Circly:

              Lol DC can't touch Marvel.

From the few films I forced myself to sit through, from 108 films the Dark Knight and the The Joker were the only two I could recommend to other grown-ups. Marvel may have the teenage boy market sewn up, but that ain't me (or anyone I know).

              • @1st-Amendment: Hey, I'm a 60 year old woman and I like Marvel. The DC stuff is just so stodgy. Wonder Woman is, probably, the best of the lot.

I was a D&D, nerd through high school, and Runequest nerd through uni, and was around when the Dark Knight was released. It was a, much, darker take on the original comics. I don't really recommend this stuff if you want to be "grown ups". Have a shot at Tolstoy, Solzhenitsyn, George Orwell, etc instead.

Frankly I like the funny Marvel films. They are bubble gum for the eyes but they don't pretend they are anything else. I can't see anyone shooting up a theatre whilst they are watching Guardians of the Galaxy.

                • @try2bhelpful:

I can't see anyone shooting up a theatre whilst they are watching Guardians of the Galaxy.

Wow. So you are using the deaths of innocent people to somehow justify how good the film is that they were watching when they were murdered? Do you also think that 9/11 is a direct connection to the service offered by United and American Airlines? And the Manchester bombings are directly connected to the quality of Ariana Grande's music?

Stick to the Superhero movies, they seem to be at your level…

              • @1st-Amendment: You should checkout the Iron Man & Guardians of The Galaxy movies. Dr Strange ones are good too.

                • @Agret:

You should checkout the Iron Man & Guardians of The Galaxy movies

I actually thought the first Iron Man was refreshing. Back in 2008 it was a new take on the Superhero format with a bit of humour and the music video vibe. The problem is that the next 50 movies copied that exact same format. 'Hey one minute I'm serious action guy, next minute I'm cracking slapstick jokes etc…' That craze even got into Star Wars. The scene where Poe first meets Kylo and he cracked stupid Iron Man style joke that ruined the entire scene was terrible. That idea can work once or twice, but 50 more movies all copying the same format is so tired and boring.
Guardians of the Galaxy was a bit of fun, but almost all the same entirely cliched action/joke format.

The Joker is the best Marvel/DC film for at least the last 10 years. It was original, didn't need to resort to any cheap shots or spaghetti CGI, and still maintained consistency with DC canon.

Sad I cannot login to to mytoyotamovies :( somethings wrong on my account.

  • While you're at it can we interest you for a what a feeling service at Toyota work guaranteed for 2 lifetimes but not the parts. Good luck after 90 days for that one

  • Do I need to buy Toyota to get tickets ;) ?

  • +1

Love the trailer. Will, probably, look at the Hoyts seniors session next Tuesday.

  • Thanks mate, cheaper then Telstra Plus

  • It’s not super clear as on one page it says login with your my toyota account, but you have to signup first.

Also seems like you can get the discount multiple tickets in same order, but not again for the account.

Comes through as an evoucher which you can redeem at event online, tried voucher as it looked like a pretty standard evoucher and looked to work for any movie.

    • So once you get the evoucher you don't necessarily need to go to that specific session? That'd be great because I cant pick a time

      • +1

Confirmed! Thanks for the heads up.

PLEASE NOTE: Not all purchases made via myToyota Movies represent a secured seat.

If you have purchased tickets to HOYTS, Event, Village or Palace cinemas please visit the cinema's website and use the code in your downloaded voucher to secure your seat.

Pro tip: Since the session doesn't matter at all (at least for Hoyts tickets) pick a time on Monday and it's cheaper.

It just sends you a standard Hoyts voucher with no mention of time, day or movie (except can't be used after 2pm on the weekends)

        • Does anyone know if you pick a session after 2pm at the weekend that costs a bit more, do you get a voucher that can’t be used for the session you chose?

          • @NotBritishorUK: For hoyts the voucher can't be used after 2pm on weekends or on public holidays

            • @Circly: I think I've figured out how Hoyts don't conflict, the website doesn't have any Hoyts sessions after 2pm on a Saturday

For some reason they do on a Sunday but when you choose any after 2pm it says not enough tickets available

I tried Village after 5pm on a Saturday and it seemed to work but didn't pull the trigger as don't want to pay 16.50 and get the same voucher you get for 12

    • Where do you signup? I've logged into my toyota website/app and can't find the signup for mytoyotamovies link.

      Edit: Found it, http://www.mytoyotamovies.com.au/subscriber-group/0de9e331cb…

  • Does this stack with RACV tickets?

  • I got this 'sorry, there are not enough tickets available' or ‘this promotion has ended'.

    • Thorry there ith not enouth thickets athailable.Thith promothon hath endedth.

  • I am getting the same message…" This promotion has ended"

  • +1

Cheers gonna head to the dealership in the morning

  • Also getting 'sorry, there are not enough tickets available. If anyone gets a time and venue that works, please let us know?

And now getting "Promo code could not be found" for a different venue.

    I think it's finished.

  • I reported expired an hour ago after getting “Promotion has ended”

  • So lame. I tried before this deal was posted and it wouldn't let me log in. I guess I had to create a new account as one of the posts above says. It wasnt very clear at all!

  • +2

Confirmed I was able to create an account and purchased tickets tonight.

Already had a MyToyota account but had to register movies account using the link provided above:
    http://www.mytoyotamovies.com.au/subscriber-group/0de9e331cb…

    Saved $22 (vmax) with code.

  • The code still works, not sure why this is marked as expired?

    • Thanks mate. The deal did expire last night but it seems it's back.

      Just picked up my tickets.

    • Can confirm, still working, Hoyts voucher just came through as 2x gift vouchers, 3yr expiry, not valid on public hols or after 2pm on weekends

      $15 for 2 tickets :)

  • -1

I'd rather pay 5x RRP for movie tickets than own a Toyota

  • FYI Village vouchers expire in Feb 2023 but the Hoyts ones are October 2025

  • Another difference is the Village ones are not valid after 5pm Thurs, Friday and Saturday but Hoyts are not valid after 2pm on a Saturday and Sunday

Does anyone know if you pick a session at say 6pm on a Saturday that costs a bit more, do you get a voucher that can’t be used for the session you chose?
