  • Is this actually a decent RGB Mechanical keyboard? I want a quiet one that doesn't sound like a typewriter.

Quite sure blue is the loudest. You're probably after something silent and tactile. Outamu brown, razer orange etc

    • Try Brown or Red switches

    • It comes with blues which most definitely will sound like a typewriter. If you want resistance as you push down on the key you should go for brown or a straight linear one for red. Both are supposed to be quiet.

It's worth noting that these are logitech's own switches and not Cherry MX switches too.

I use browns because I bought at a time when reds were sold out everywhere. I wouldn't call them quiet by any stretch. If anyone wants an actual quiet mechanical keyboard, I'd look for one specifically marketed as such. Fine for my home office though.

        • Yeah this was me when I looked last time for the office. Ended up with not just a Cherry Red, but a Silent Cherry Red. Dont want to wake my work colleagues.

        • Mechanical keyboards are always going to be louder than membrane keyboards.

        • +1

Agree, I've used brown on my last two keyboards. Not as loud as blue, but loud enough that people who aren't familiar with mech keyboards think it's incredibly noisy. Thankfully I'm the only one that's in my study while I use it.

    • start with red switches and if you want, open it up to add foam, lube switches/stabiliisers for more quiet

    • Avoid Logitech G keyboard. avoid ghosting keys on the anti-ghosting keyboard. G910 owner advice. Also, Logitech support are hopeless. try other brand.

I need a new keyboard, but after the last few Logitech mechanicals (and mice) I've owned, I just don't think I could justify $125 on their stuff these days. This is after ~30 years using their peripherals.

  • Will give Logitech a miss. Got a G512 and the keys are already peeling after 6 months.

  • Logitech G stuff are overpriced for what they are. Have owned 2 previous G boards and both have bad key chattering. Stabs feel bad as expected and their 'tactile' switches feel more linear than my gat blacks.

I just replaced this keyboard after a very short tenure (2 years about).

If you just want a keyboard that works with logitech stuff, supports swappable cherry mx switches, RGB, ten keyless, it does all of that but things I don't like.

Keycaps are painted plastic, my space bar started to lose paint and the RGB was peaking through, look into PBT to understand the difference.

The lower 2 rows contain non-standard sized keys, particularly the space bar, tab, shift keys, and a few others, I bought a set of after market keycaps and it never looked right.

It's micro-usb and not usb-c, but it comes with it's own cable so that's not a big deal

I replaced it with this keyboard and it's exactly what I wished I had bought instead, it has a variety of switch types, silent red is just what I was after.

Thanks, now you have me looking into the Ducky One 3…
How do you find the pudding? Is it overwhelmingly bright?

      • For the Ducky keyboard (One 2) and probably others, no, it does give a good effect in my opinion, much better than just lettering. More important is that it is PBT, so the letters won't chip or wear out, and the fact that it isn't a key cap set that I bought means they're all perfectly aligned, all the switches work because I don't need to swap anything, etc, etc.

  • Go check out kmarts mechanical keyboards, they have 25$ no numberpad blue switches and 35$ for with numberpad. Its killer. also there mice are cheap aswell. and its got dpi settings/software.

  • Had two of these and they barely even last 12 months before either a Key or the LED lighting screws up.

  • it's a good keyboard worth getting if you have other logitech stuff ie mouse , speakers , headset etc
I switched the blues out for Reds

Is it the best KB in this price range? no.
